Despite the plating in modern kits being pretty good these days, there are still reasons why you might want to strip it. But don’t spend hours or days doing this. With the right product, the chrome effect can usually be stripped in a matter of minutes.
NOTE: For the chrome in Salvinos JR Model kits, you'll need to use Hydrochloric Acid in place of the compounds mentioned in this video and it will take a few days (depending on the concentration of the solution). Of course, there are significant safety hazards to navigate with all these chemicals.
