In this video we strip down our Range Rover Sport headlamps and paint the inside black to update the look of our Range Rover Sport. We remove the headlight lens in the oven. www.PowerfulUK.com For all your Range Rover Accessories
Really i cant thankyou enough for helping me by saving alot of money with the lights , i sent yr video to my group , we are 150 the owner’s of rang rover in saudi arabia , and we do not want to go or deal with some thieves in the maintenance centers ..
Mate , I would like to say thank you from Australia I have followed the video and the results comes 100% positive without any issues and the total job was done in 20 min Thank you 👍
“Doesn’t look...too chav’d up” (0:36) Love it! And a genuine concern - it’s a fine line between upgrading a car and chaving up a car. Great job here Dan - I’ve been thinking about how to do this for a while, and now I know how! :)
For those of us that have the newer variant, I just did headlight lenses on my 2011 RR Sport. Sorry, no video.... They are a royal pain in the arse to remove from the assembly. Basically you must Dremel them off and use vice grips to tear the remaining pieces out of the groves. They were siliconed in place which is why it is so difficult to remove. Heating them like they do in this video does help a lot. I ended up heating each lamp about 5 times while pulling chunks of lens out of the housing. After removal, clean it as best you can and use butyl tape like they did in this video. Heat it up awhile, let it cool and install! I was shocked how well the butyl worked too, 6 months and countless car washes and storms later and still no lens fogging. It is doable on the newer ones, just gotta have patience!
Hello, good morning from Spain, I would like to know if there is a possibility of updating these headlights with "LEDS". Thank you very much for your response.
Interesting that you heated the headlights with the ballast packs still in place bearing in mind just how much those items cost to replace, was that a time constraint or did you not wish to remove them?
Quick question… could you not use a heat gun on the adhesive?… I’m trying to restore an 07 sport and I’m a little scared of putting the headlight in the oven considering it’s near 1k if I mess anything up
Good morning from EU! Because our RRS1 are getting older and older there is a need for headlight glasses or a treat for them (polishing). Maybe there are no faded out glasses in the UK (due to lack of UV) but in EU esp. the south part this problem is really cooking up! You have made an excellent video about opening die headlight and painting die 'guts'... ...why not putting a new glas on...? BTW: I love your comments with British humour!
Hi - is this on both lights ? or just one ? if its just one light its a good trick to swap the bulbs from one side of the car to the other and see is you can work out which element is giving the issue.
We did attempt this with the later Range Rover L322 headlights and these would not come apart so i think you may be correct in your findings... not all headlights come apart.
2020 RRS HSE: tried three times before reading this comment... adhesive does not soften in the oven... even holding to a flame. Still appreciated the video posting, tx.
You don't mix silicone and the oem glue. When warm smooth out glue in channel. Off the sides and pushed to the bottom. If you need to fill in a bit use a donor lights glue or use some windshield butyl. You can use silicone if channel is completely clean. I'll use that for lenses that i did a lens swap by cutting lens off a urethane or silicone based glue that are not affected by heat. I split and repair a lot of lights. Just a fyi from my experience.
Any plans to source and stock repllacement lens for the 05 to 09 sport please. Have no problem splitting the lamp but cant find replacement lenses anywhere. Am sure there would be a market for them as all the ones I see are faded and misted now
Hi, I'm wondering do take jobs on for customers.? Or is your youtube vids just on How to do things? If you do take jobs on? How much would it cost for pair of headlights to be restored? Thanks.
