Look at the algorithm actually helping. 💛 Consistency is everything but just couldn’t shake the feeling that even after hitting all my daily goals I just hadn’t studied enough today.

Interesting topic! Was exactly thinking about this recently. I moved to Switzerland almost 2 years ago and got married and pregnant fairly quickly (within 3 months of moving lol)…I’m not working, however it’s been hard juggling new roles of motherhood + being a new wife and (now pregnant again) doing it all with only the support of my husband. I’ve been trying to fit time into learning German and still am at A2 level…Ofcourse on top of German is Swiss German to learn…my husband and I have decided to stop speaking English so much and he often corrects me and teaches me too which is super helpful! So what I do, is while I have the baby attached to me, I often listen to German audio or if I have an hour or two, read my Bible in German. Just to make time where I can. It’s annoying though, when other people compare your progress and “how long it’s taking you” vs this person…just a matter of going at your own pace.

Never compare yourself to others, we tend to be overly harsh to ourselves. Be happy with the smallest step forward. Every person is different, has a different situation and obligations. Don’t get disheartened, learning a language is a long trip, the pace is not important. Good luck with all the new roles in your life!

I can imagine it’s really hard to find time studying when juggling all of that! But you should be proud that you’re putting in the effort. Deciding to speak Swiss German with your husband is fantastic and will be super helpful! My boyfriend and I mainly speak Italian together and it helps tremendously. Good job for finding ways to immerse yourself in German while you can! And seriously, don’t worry about others and how fast they’re progressing. I often got frustrated in school when I saw some classmates who seemed to understand certain concepts faster or progress faster and it made me feel like “what am I doing wrong?” But really everyone has their own timeline and it’s really not a race. There’s no finish line! Language learning continues on and on, you’re always learning new things so go at your own pace. Best of luck! 😊🙌🏼

@@SheaJordanThankyou! 100% agree…also, you never really stop learning in your own native tongue either. Like you said, it’s not a race.

Immersive Translate isn’t just a translation tool. I use it to generate subtitles in my target language for my shows and movies on Netflix, and this has been a great way for me to learn a new language. I love how I can easily make this a part of my daily routine. I’ve already learned a lot, which is great.
