I love the bamboo linens. One thing I cannot get on board with is the white-white-white. Not for me. Don't get me wrong, I like it in a hotel. In my room, imma need color. I love my colored linens. I do use the same components you use, and I have pillows. I love pillows, my bed is king, and I'm all of 5'4 almost so the pillows help me when I want to prop myself up. Also, it fills up space. I do at times go for the less is more look. Depends on my mood. This was a nice video.

I live in south Texas. One thing that has helped me is a dehumidifier. I can't live without it now. You may want to try that.

Agreed. I am in Virginia and the humidity here is unbearable. Dehumidifier has also helped with power bill, the ac isn't running non stop.

Years ago I bought a duvet set from Pottery Barn that has velcro closures. I agree that duvet covers are the way to go. That screen actually compliments your bed. I'm in Texas and sleep with a little fan directed at my face because the AC doesn't always cool me down at night. I'm a native Californian and after 20+ years still am not used to the humidity. I’m glad you got those lovely sheets. It may cool off, but it is ALWAYS very humid during the summer here. Most houses do have ceiling fans, as well as air conditioning. I know you don’t like the ceiling fans, but you’ll appreciate them late June through mid-October. Btw, WELCOME to the region!

Lovely and serene. I use the “burrito” method for getting the comforter back into the duvet cover. A work out for sure. Your skin will love the humidity!

Hope the sheets help! I had my first night sweat at 42, didn't know what it was because it wasn't even Summer! (Apparently peri menopause) Luckily it only happened about once a year and they actually stopped once I hit menopause. But then I started having hot flashes about 15-20 times a day. Never took the hormones, just dealt with it. I am 63 now and still get them occasionally.

I love the tip of using a larger comforter for the duvet cover. I had always heard that about pillows, and it totally makes sense to apply the same principle. If you’re a hot sleeper avoid any synthetic material on your bedding. It can’t breathe. I’m not a fan of bamboo. I prefer high thread count cotton. It’s harder and harder to find cotton. Polyester is everywhere and allows companies to give us a cheaper product. But it’s terrible for sleeping in. I hate it in clothes as well. Fabrics are important.

You could easily take that duvet cover to a tailor and have them put in a zipper! Wouldn't be too expensive and makes your life feel a little easier

I've been a fan of bamboo fibres but haven't run across bedding here in Serbia, it's still only socks and lingerie. I've actually been searching for an update on our old cotton sets with low fibre count, you inspired me to search harder for bamboo. We like memory foam pillow inserts, even my cats and my dog, all three ranging from 10-15 pounds, lovingly embraced the one my daughter grew out of.

Thanks for sharing this. I live in DC and although it’s not as hot as Texas, the city is literally built on a swamp, so it is hot and sticky and humid and gross this time of year. Plus, my partner is a big sweaty dude and we’ve been trying to figure out what kind of bedding we can use to keep cooler at night. I also like that these bamboo sheets are silky because I’ve heard that keeps your skin/hair better moisturized? Definitely going to try these out!

Vermont Country Store has some specifically made to be crunchy- 100% cotton, lower thread count. (A textile designer explained to me that the whole "high thread count " thing is just a marketing ploy...)

I did go through menapause and serious night sweats...organic cotton percale sheets have been the answer. They seem to dry out the quickest and feel dry and soft. I found anything silky always felt a little damp...especially in humid climates...

I live in Houston. It's way more humid down here. It only gets worse as it gets hotter 🤷🏽‍♀️ To tame the mugginess, you should invest in a dehumidifier or 2. Someone else said your skin will love the humidity, but not when you're trying to sleep 😂 Bamboo sheets are everything. I have 2 sets.

Well, this video was timely! I washed my sheets yesterday only to find out that my back has sweat the dye out of the fitted sheet and they aren't six months old yet! So frustrating! Right now where I live, the nighttime temperature has been around 9C/55F. I use a cotton flat sheet and a cotton blanket with a big box fan and leave the window open. I'M STILL TOO HOT. Even the silk pillow cover makes me sweat. I have never been someone who sweats profusely or much at all unless I'm engaged in vigorous activity. I've tried so many sheets to no avail, so maybe bamboo sheets will do the trick. Here's hoping and thanks for the video!

Nice to know about the bamboo fabric! I don't like duvet covers but I wash my alternative comforters. Just bought new pillows (not memory foam or cooling type, that's just not for me) and pillow protectors and satin cases.

I agree w the hunidity. Ceiling fan in the South is a must. I also have an extra blanket that goes on n off throughout the night. I love my cotton sateen sheets; I look for vintage for the better quality n super soft. I will look at the bamboo though!

The absolute best thing for living in Dallas is: Get a De-Humidifier!!! I can’t live here without a ceiling fan and a dehumidifier. The bigger the better. It rolls around the house and sucks the moisture out of the air. You empty the bucket once a day. I’ve had mine for 30 years and it’s still working. Mom has the same one and hers is still working too. Hunter brand is great. Home Depot or Lowes. Your Welcome!

I bought a Birch Living pillow (for side sleeping) and a Saavta pillow for back & tummy sleeping. It takes about 50 nights to break them in, but they give a trial period. I love both of these pillows! I do less tossing/turning. Now I'm curious about linens. Thanks for covering bamboo sheets. I'd like more info on linen sheets and eucalyptus sheets mentioned below.

Definitely try to find a bed skirt that doesn't have a net material for the part that the mattress lays on. That fabric rips easily.

Does anyone have any suggestions for affordable, durable, not overly hard mattresses? Seems like there are all these new brands with special bells and whistles and they cost way over $1000. I do not think that is reasonable, at least not for me. My mattresses are just old and saggy (somewhat like me, lol) and I need to upgrade. Thanks for any suggesttions.
