Did you know that you could personalize paper bags and other packaging by using sublimation printing? In this video we tested this newfound knowledge by using our heat press to sublimate on paper bags, kraft bags and envelopes, gift bags, and cake boxes. This is great to know if you have a heat press and you're looking to make printed paper bags for a business or for gifts.

We are a married couple and artists who recently moved to Buenos Aires. We decided to purchase a heat press and open a print business at the beginning of 2022. These sublimation for beginners videos are a way for us to test materials and products as we gain experience in our new venture.

You guys are awesome! This is the first of our videos I have watched. It was also the first one I clicked to try to find out how to sublimate on craft bags. I love that you guys are very naturally doing your video. You are not pretending to be pros but you are informative in the steps you are taking to learn as you go. I also love that you have taught me something else, (To Line my press with paper.) I keep screwing up my stuff because of bleed throughs. Thank you guys! You definitely have a new follower :)

If your substrate are not white the colors will change, Google s sublimation chart . Love it 😍

OOOhhhhh, we just googled the sublimation chart 😲, we knew that the substrates that aren't white would change but it's a great reference for having an idea of what it will look like before even doing the sublimation!!! Thank you for the love and for the great advice!!!!!

When doing items like this do you have to spray something like poly spray on them like some shirts or does the sublimate ink bond anyways? newbie question I guess

Hi James, thanks for your comment! No spray was required for these items. We saw that the sublimation adheres better on items that have a gloss finish. We also noticed that the colors that we used and the actual design - ie full color vs one color or a photo vs a logo - made a huge difference in how clear the image came out

Thank you and thank you 😃😃!!!! So yes, the box seemed to lose a bit of saturation after a few days, but very little. They still haven't faded. The bags look the same, we didn't notice any difference since posting the video 😃

what type of transfer paper do you guys used

Thank you for your comment!! i wish i could answer that but we don't own a printer at the moment so we work with a local printing company and we don't know what paper they use.

we just started so we send it to a printer store and we don't know what they use. What we know is that epson printers are good.

the little pink bag maybe the temp was too hot on the brown bag maybe the color should be darker

Yes for the pink bag it was way too hot!!! It melted into a hard piece of plastic 🤭🤣 The brown paper bag, you're right, I think we should have left it longer

Maybe put a piece of cardboard on the inside so it wouldn’t bleed to the other side but truly beautiful

Use freezer paper instead of wax paper because it will melt the wax.

Not sure if anyone caught your reference to using wax paper to cover your project and machine it’s not wax paper you want to use (that would melt) but parchment paper

Oh I'm sorry about that! It was one of our first videos so we weren't that good with music yet! We'll be doing another paper bag video at some point, hopefully that will be more helpful!

It was a nice video. It was just hard to hear because I typically watch RU-vid with earbuds and all the videos with music playing when someone is talking seems to be amplified. So I took the earbuds out and still had a hard time hearing your voices. Just letting you know from the receiver end of your video. But really did enjoy watching.
