VIDEO IDEA: this conversation reminded me of a game you can buy at target called “we are not really strangers”. it’s a three level game where the questions get super deep as you go up levels and it gets you super introspective (questions like “how can i earn your vulnerability” or “what is a dream you’ve given up on”)!! would love to hear the three of you play this game :))))))

I never leave comments, but (this is for Manny) I want to say that I don’t think that what you did (leaving the flowers and soup) was cringe. It was brave, sweet, and loving. If anything, it’s sad that you didn’t get the love you deserved in return! Thanks for always working so hard and creating great content for us

Don't Have kids in your teens. Makes you're 20's way easier. Don't settle for any partner, no matter what (pressures from family, friends, the partner, yourself. Love, circumstance) You have your whole life ahead of you and don't need to be miserable even if a situation feels permanent and too hard to escape. Every day you spend not working on yourself, your life, your dreams, your health is a day wasted that you'll look back on and wish you had started sooner. Have fun. Keep a journal and take pictures/videos. Things you think you could never possibly forget, you will.

In your 20s, when something bad happens it feels like the end of the world. The one thing I wish I knew is that the hardships will pass. In my mid 20s, I had 2 miscarriages and then at the time found out my now ex husband was cheating. I honestly thought I had nothing to live for. Thank God for a friend who was overly concerned for my well being. I now have an amazing husband and 3 beautiful children. This too shall pass is a real thing. I know no 20 year old is going to listen to this because back then I wouldn't have either and just thought my life was over. You never know what the future holds and at your lowest point, it can only get better.

Had to say for Manny: after only 2 weeks of meeting my now husband of 7 years, he knew I caught the flu and he brought me soup to the door as a surprise. I was shocked that someone would just drop something off for me w no expectations just to be nice. I had never been treated that a man. 100% a defining moment for our relationship. What you did wasn't cringy and I hope some day you're with someone you can express yourself fully with.

i’m 25 now, so i’m still in my twenties, but man, oh, man….. i put so much pressure on myself in my early twenties. i remember trying to find “my purpose in life,” and it crushed me because i could never figure out the answer. now that i’m older, i’m convinced that it’s old-fashion thinking. my purpose in life is to just vibe. life is always changing, so having just “one purpose” is insanity! but no matter what you do, always make sure to have fun and relax. that’s my purpose.

I’ve definitely learned that sometimes people need to to be selfish with their time and energy. On that same note, how to not be offended when someone is not willing to give up their time and energy for you because maybe that’s something they need to protect for themselves.
@samb7373
@samb7373 2 года назад
Something i’ve learned, pay attention to how you feel when you interact with someone. A friend, family member, romantic partner. Is it good or bad? When you leave their presence - are you drained or happy? And no matter what you’ll always be okay!❤️

Love hearing you guys get deep! As a soon to be 31 year old, I couldn't agree more with everything said. My biggest regrets for my 20s are not saving money and not loving and respecting myself more. One of the things I relate to the most is that blood-relations doesn't need to be family. Toxic people are not required to stay in your life forever just because you're related to them. If you have positive people around you, you will be so much more happy, which will allow more room for growth and success
@sammharry
@sammharry 2 года назад
I’m currently 28. A few things I’ve learned especially lately, is how important it is to connect with each other on a human level. And to be nice, respectful and PATIENT with each other. Say hi to people you see around you, and ask how they are. You never know how much that can really mean to someone or even to you. A family thing i learned is to not be too hard on your parents for not teaching you properly or being there for you. They were going through their own things too and didn’t have the capacity to also take care of your needs. Thank you for reading. Love each one of you fools ♥️

I was crying so hard watching the video and then I paused the video and called my Mom! "Moving comes from motivation." This one REALLLLYY resonates with me. I've ALWAYS, for as long as I can remember, had such a terrible time with motivation. I'm always saying, "I need something to motivate me..." but what you said makes a hell of a lot more sense. Even now, I've been so unmotivated after having my third baby...... 8 months ago 🤣 I take care of most of the house but never my own room and it drives me insane because I want it done I just don't have the motivation....ever. All of what you guys said were absolutely great but that one is the one that stuck with me. It'll be the words I'll be repeating to and reminding myself whenever I need to get something done but have a million excuses to avoid it.

FULLY agree that 30s are the greatest years. When I was a teen/in my 20s I really thought 30 was old but I swear once you turn 30 it’s like a switch goes off. I’m so much more confident in who I am, I don’t care if people find my interests “weird,” and I’m financially able to actually go and do the things I enjoy. I’m ready for this to be my best decade yet 😊

I am 25! & so far what I have learned is SAVE! If you can’t wear the clothing item more then 3 ways don’t buy it. If you can’t buy something twice you can’t afford it! Trying not to buy meaningless stuff, it’s hard but worth it! I live in NJ and it’s extremely expensive especially North Jersey where I live, trying to move out! So save save save!

My stress levels have been so high since I’m managing my lash and suites business. After working 10 hours a day 5 days a week, countless hour hold phone calls, long drives to the city, emails, and responding to my clients etc. I’ve been so negative but now I see that it’s just a part of the process and it’s time for me to f up. I’m in my late 20’s and honestly it’s been the most stressful and confusing time. For a good chunk of my 20’s I spent most of my time working 2 jobs to be financially independent but the past 4 years got me nowhere besides creating horrible eating habits/ sleep habits. Now I’m going back to school for better opportunities and quitting one job has made such a difference. Like Laura said you will go nowhere if you stay in your comfort zone.

Love Life Story: my fiancé and I met when we both were in community college. He told me right away after the semester was done he was joining the military. I didn’t expect for our relationship to continue but we enjoyed spending time with one another before he left. 6 months into our relationship he left for basic training. I stayed in college over 1000 miles away. He signed a 6 year contract so we had a long stretch ahead of us. Everyone told us we were crazy for staying together while he went in and I stayed in our home state finishing college. They said our relationship would turn unfaithful and we would never work. During his 6 year contract he was stationed always over 800 miles away and deployed for 8 months twice. We never lived together but we would always make it a point to visit one another every other month when he was stateside. 3 years into his contract i graduated with a teaching degree and decided to take a job in our hometown. This meant we would continue staying apart but long term it made the most sense. We also made it a point to wait to get married until he was out of military and we were together. 6 long years later he is now out of the military this month and he is packing up his home in SC to move back with me in my home I bought for us last year in our hometown. Our love story is so so unique and beautiful. It took a lot of work but we always prioritized our needs and future over what everyone else said wouldn’t or would work for us. The point is, if people are telling you what you want to do is impossible, you probably are doing the right thing for you!

First I just need to say wonderful podcast and Manny I LOVE your shirt!! I'm still chugging along through my 20s and 5000000% agree with the advice! So far my 20s have been the most difficult and challenging years of my life. I've learned so far that a good support system can carry you through the hard times including losing part of that support system - it has been the key to helping me achieve the heights I want to achieve! One of my brothers passed away in 2020 and it is devastating, it always will be, and losing him helped me refocus on the relationships in my life because the people I love are more important to me than *anything*. Call people up, send them a quick text to tell them you're thinking about them. Ask for advice, ask for help - people who love you are happy to hear from you, even if you think you might be annoying!! I'm still working on prioritizing my health, but imma get there yall ❤️

I’m 25 and I have 2 kids. Having children has completely changed my life, my mindset, how I view myself, etc. In lieu of healing and finding your identity in your 20’s, just know that this NEVER ends! You will be learning yourself and healing at 30, 40, 50.. 80, 90!You don’t have to shy away from love, from having children, from chasing your goals, from taking care of yourself until you’re “better”, or understand yourself “more”. I used to not take care of myself or get dressed until I lost weight. I used to think I couldn’t be loved until I learned to just hurry up and heal and love myself! This behaviour was self-loathing and I was stuck in a loop of not feeling worthy because I didn’t know enough yet, didn’t heal from trauma, didn’t feel worthy of caring for myself. But working on yourself is a life long journey. And it takes courage to show up how you are TODAY. This mindset allowed me to be proactive in caring for myself, and actually doing the learning and loving I deserved. It’s okay to not “know” yourself yet and to still embrace all you are, and take chances, and love others… and it’s okay to recognize that learning and growing is what life is about!

i'm 25 and something i am currently having to learn is stop holding onto people who would never hold onto you... i feel like we spend a lot of time holding onto friendships just because of the time we spent with those people... i'm having to learn that just because someone was right for your life then doesn't still mean they are now and by continuing to hold onto these dying relationships it's building way more resentment and ruining the view i had on these people... but if i just let them go when the universe was telling me to i would still hold the memories of them dear to my heart and would have appreciated that time a lot more and the role they played in my life.

I am 20 and I have already learnt that CHANGE IS A CONSTANT! It is scary especially cause I'm spending so much time on working with myself after moving to another country for uni and a break-up, and listening to this episode I realise that I will always grow and change and I will have new things every day to work on and to deal with. I am excited to look back at myself in 10 years! Love you guys xx

I love my family but my dad specifically was very toxic. At 17 I graduated and moved out and never came back. And I dont regret it. And I feel like our relationship was better because of it. He grew, and I grew. And we were able to step back and gain perspective

Not joking: I wrote a page worth of notes. I have been really struggling in the first 3 years of my 20’s - I currently have no friends, still in a comfortable job (not my career) since I was 18, still live at home, single, and unsure of where to go from here. For a while I thought it was just me as I saw so many people I knew post on instagram all of their huge friendship groups going out but I know it’s not just me. Feeling stuck, anxiety and fear is such a real part of your 20’s that you’re never warned about. Plus, the pandemic didn’t really help. Thanks for giving me some reassurance that I am actually doing okay and things will work itself out xx

This alone is motivating. I just turned 27 and lost my job last year. I never saw myself leaving, only moving up and up the ladder there. I haven't found a job I can mentally be okay at. If I do, they pay garbage even with all my experience. Jumping jobs after losing my long time job, I ate up all my savings and barely make it. Luckily leaning on my mom for rent because I'm 4 months behind. I do not know what to do y'all.

I love these type of podcast topics, specially since some of us are still struggling with toxic relationships. I’ve recently got ghosted by a decent size group of friends because one of them didn’t want to have a grownup conversation with me about her time management when it came to us two hangout.( ditching me for her boyfriend most of the time, never telling me when she will be late, or attend at all) I’m currently a single mother that works and is perusing architecture school. I literally just wanted for her to acknowledge that I can’t be waisting my precious time waiting for her response. It hurts because she’s been my bff since 6th grade but she didn’t want to confront our situation and decided not talk to me after I told her I needed to time apart to work on my life. She took it in a wrong way when I said that she want reliable when it comes to time management with our relationship. I helped her with adult task like applying for health insurance, taught her how to do her own taxes, and I offered to help fill out her FAFSA and college application. At the end of the day I’m the villain and she made sure that group friends knew that. Just because I wanted her to get out of her comfort zone and level up, and for me give there to help her. Now I know my worth and I will never let anyone bring down to that level again. I’m striving in life just by myself, I acknowledge my worth and will never let this happen to me again. Time is too short to let people bring you down like that.

It’s so funny that y’all are talking about this. Must be a sign for me to get out of my comfort zone. I have been struggling trying to figure out what to do with my life for a long time. I’ve been at the same job for 4 years since i graduated and I have been miserable for a long time. I’ve always been so scared to try something new. This past week I finally decided to put in somewhere else. So wish me luck! I love you guys!

I fall victim to always feeling I’m not where I’m supposed at this stage in life, but hearing your own testimonies helped me understand that the way I feel is totally normal and in fact part of the journey to finding my way through life. This episode was so relatable and I appreciate the advice you guys have to give. Fool overage is my favorite podcast ever!

I love this episode, I’m in my mid twenties and still unsure about a lot of stuff but something valuable I have figured out is absolutely boundaries, like Manny said, about leaving friendships. I’ve done it, it sucks, but it has benefited me MORE being out of friendships than in them.

Iam a young at heart, mind, body (ok, not as much body) and soul about to be 65yr old BEAUTIFUL, THRIVING WOMAN. The best advice I can give is practice and put in the time and effort to continue to discover something new about yourself and others. Trust yourself, challenge yourself, have the courage to remove toxic people from your inner circle, be kind, loving, encouraging and accepting of yourself and others. In life, I have found there are only 2 states of being....growth or decay. Continue to be in the question about your purpose and make sure your actions are in alignment. Practice balance, practice self love, and be mindful that words matter, and actions speak louder than words. One last piece of advice, celebrate your wins daily, and if you dont feel like you had a win, dig deeper as they are ALWAYS there.

I have a similar story to Laura: I got with my husband when I was 15 and he was 17. I was a freshman in highschool. My senior year of highschool he was in the military so we did long distance, and he also proposed so I was engaged as a 17 year old. We got married right after highschool and I moved in with him. I always tell my single friends that my story is not an example to follow. Getting married so young typically does not work out and now that I’m older I definitely see why. We have many different beliefs, and really had to work through some hardships trying to reconcile that. We are also more codependent on each other as well. Like it is definitely hard for us to find ourselves and our own friends since we do everything together. We had our first baby a year ago and am celebrating our 5 year wedding anniversary this year and are doing better than ever, but there were definitely a hard couple of years when we first got married ❤️

The part about setting boundaries with family, hit me hardddd. My parents live 90 mins away, and never come to see me and my family. But I truly believe if I put my foot entirely down and didn’t allow them to step in and out my daughters life they would try to come down more often. Just weird. My first Mother’s Day my mom came into my house smelling like cigarettes with my newborn hoping to hold her… I told her she could shower and change clothes and she refused and made a big deal about it. I feel sick I ever let her near my child again.

You are so right about letting go of people. My childhood best friend is extremely toxic to the life I want to live and the parent I want to be and I didn't realize how much she was influencing me as a person until I cut her off. I thought I could be who I wanted to be and still allow her to be who she wanted but that is so far from the truth.

Your mental health is just as important as your physical health. There's nothing wrong or shameful with needing therapy or medication. Don't let anyone make you feel bad for making your mental health a priority. As Laura said just bc someone is your blood family doesn't mean you have to keep them in your life. The only blood family in my life is my dad, older brother, and uncle. Family friends are more family to me than my actual family. If someone is draining you and not enriching your life you're not obligated to keep them around. This is more geared towards women but don't shrink yourself down to make others feel more comfortable. As women we've been conditioned to not make a fuss, to smile and be agreeable, to not rock the boat. Fuck that. Don't sacrifice your own happiness and sanity for the sake of anyone else and making sure they are comfortable. You and your thoughts and feelings are just as important as anyone else's. Sometimes you are going to be the bad guy in a situation. Learn how to own up to your mistakes and take responsibility for when you hurt people. And if someone tells you that you hurt them, you don't get to tell them you didn't bc your intentions were good or bc you would feel differently in the same situation. Be kind and have patience and compassion. You never know what someone is going through in life that they aren't talking about. Smile at a stranger, hold the door open for someone, buy the coffee for the person behind you in the Starbucks drive thru. You have no idea what one random act of kindness can do for someone. You might be the person that made someone feel seen and gave them the strength to keep going. You never stop learning. Be open to new thoughts and ideas. 2+2=4 but so does 1+3. Your ideas, thoughts, and ways are not the only ones out there. Don't be so resistant to change. It's not always a bad thing.

I was raised in a wealthy family. Unfortunately, my dad did a lot of bad financial decisions, so my parents twice almost touched rock bottom (3rd time is happening right now). I’ve never been spoiled, they wanted me to work for everything, but with that said I am ve try away my living conditions were very good. I grew up with a lot of uncertainty, I got used to a lot of money talks and knowing that we have money made me feel safe. Now I’m 26, I’ve started working as a lecturer at 22. I was living with my parents back and forth during university, they encouraged me, paid for my school and masters abroad. Working since I was 22 made me realize how important it is to have your own money, be independent, make your own decisions because you CAN. I completely agree with you guys, but one more thing. While choosing college path, besides of what you like think what’s gonna bring you money. It’s great if you can work in the industry you love, but it’s not that popular. Ultimately, it’s all about money. Thank you for your honesty🖤 P.s. good path for me was emigration. I live in Spain (high unemployment rate), but I managed to find my place in a very specific industry. There is no bad way of fighting out what is good for you as long as you don’t steal and hurt others

Well fool fam I’m 40!!!!(just turned 40 in April;)) and I love this podcast I’ve been thru my 20s I’ve past my 30s and guess what I’m still figuring everything out and I’ve came to the conclusion that we never fully figure everything out, it’s a myth that creates anxiety, we are here to live life and enjoy each and every decade as we want to live it, as long as your trying your best you are living your truth. Don’t be afraid to live out loud speak your mind be who you really are because life goes by to fast to live someone else’s life! ❤️ I’m so happy with all the stages of my life and people that are happy are better humans to other people💋just a thought 💭

I love this video, the only thing I want to add is I am 29 and it makes me sad when ppl talk about how hard things get in your 30s… your life isn’t over in your 30s, if you messed up your 20s then get yourself together no matter how old you are, it’s not too late when you hit 31. You can lose weight in your 30s, you can find a career in your 30s.
