Do you have your first colonoscopy coming up? Feeling scared? After hearing from countless people about how horrible colonoscopy prep would be, I decided to share my experience and give some "right from the fart" advise for making this into a positive experience.
Many thanks for posting this: it’s really useful. I had a routine test a couple of months ago, because my stool test (routine & free in the UK - everyone is invited automatically over a certain age) turned out positive. I had no symptoms of any kind. So I went for the colonoscopy - my choice, I could have refused if I felt like it. It wasn’t bad. I decided against any anaesthetic of any kind. It was a bit uncomfortable, but not painful. I watched the whole procedure on the TV screen (at my request), and the consultant explained everything as he was doing it. I had 4 polyps, one of which was pre-cancerous. He removed them all (in front of my eyes 😂). Nurses were very good and reassuring. Afterwards, I rested for about 20 minutes, then drove myself home, about 30 minutes away. The worst part was the laxative - frequent visits to the bathroom! I didn’t have any problems about fasting: it’s something I’ve always done as far back as I remember. Thanks again for the video. It’s really helpful for anyone who needs to get this done, advisable for folks with a family history. Colon cancer can often be symptomless: I’m a medical scientist / pathologist by profession, which is how I know. And no, I don’t make any money from anyone by saying that!
Thanks for the useful info! I will share this with anyone who decides they need to go through this experience. Gives a whole new meaning to "prepping"!😂 I'm glad you are taking care of your body so you can keep sharing your brain!
Oh my gosh, I didn't think of that "prepping" connection! Could have gotten some mileage out of that one!! =) Thanks for all the humor and laughs, my friend!
Hey Kenton, it’s been a while. I am so glad everything turned out fine. I am also glad you made this video I have gotten two colonoscopies and I am the biggest chicken in the world. my first at 55, my second last year at 60. I am so glad I went because I had three polyps, one which was pre-cancerous, and the second one I had one small polyp. I often wonder, if I hadn’t gone what could have happened. I am so glad and my advice is for people to do it. It’s really not bad at all coming from a chicken like myself who swore he’d never go for one. I don’t have to go for another seven years. Like you said, they grow extremely slow and it takes years to develop into cancer if they are pre-cancerous But I will say this once you go and find out everything is OK it is a big weight lifted off your shoulders. All the best and much love to you and your family.!!
Good morning my friend from Los Angeles! Looking good! Long time no talk. Wonderful video as always. A few months ago I had mine done at age 55. Found one small benign polyp. Was not as bad as I thought! Next one in 10 years Lord willing.
Nice -- so glad it wasn't that bad! I sure heard some horror stories, but I think it might just be that people aren't used to fasting for a bit. So good to hear from you! Sending love from Wisconsin =)
I had symptoms, so had one about 30 years ago. I'm just glad they give some anesthesia these days! The procedure was NOT pleasant 😂 As for the prep - I'd think anyone whos done a colon cleanse will be pretty set. That's kinda all it is, a total clean out so the docs can take a look around 👀😊
I was really tempted to do it without anesthesia -- apparently you can watch the scope footage the whole time. But your words are making me think it was good to be mostly asleep, lol!
@@ReWildUniversity Ooooohhhhhh yeah! 😂 In all honesty, it was just really really unpleasant. I think part of the reason for anesthesia is to help the technician, honestly. The position I had to hold, along with being totally STILL while THAT was being done... I would imagine more than one procedure was wasted by a patient that just couldn't do it, before they changed standard procedure. Glad you've got that done now. Good of you to reach out and help others!
Hi Kenton. Interesting juxta positioning for your picture. The vast array of sugary sweets behind you, then the talk about cancer screening via colon check. Yup! All that sugar is what feeds cancer cells. Besides being dangerous, it just plain feels better to avoid that stuff. Since I only eat once per day at night, my every day seems like fasting to the average person. Then, when I actually 'fast', it comes out to more about 46 hours without eating. Anyways, good luck to you and may your food paradigms be ever more closely questioned...
Ah yes . . . sugar! What a powerful substance, and put into almost every processed food. Tough to get away from, but when we distance ourselves even a little, such benefits! =)
We went on a roadtrip when my daughter was aboout 5. We had to stop at a roadside rest stop so she could poop. She was SO MAD she had to use TP and that there were no wipes! We travel with wipes now.
Yeah, it's an odd thing, isn't it, that in our very "civilized" world we've chosen a cleaning method for our poop that really doesn't work? Left that old, backward tradition of using water which obviously made no sense at all. Wipes are great -- just imagining your daughter's face in that moment! =)
Wipes are amazing. Hard to believe that I didn't used to use those. I used them for my baby and then when that baby was a teenager, she taught me to use them and wow what a difference. Clean bum, happy bum.
i know everyone say stop eating gmo food it's bad for us to just eat organic food instead i also know some think organic food is good for us and some think organic food is bad for us i have to be honest i love both gmo and organic food equally i'm also a picky eater there are some food i love to eat and some eats i don't like to eat i just don't like being pressure force to stop eating this or that i don't label certain foods good or bad like alot of people in the majority do but i know your not forcing me your just giving advice i can take it or leave it and i love it when it's little bit cold but not too cold and i don't like it when it's too hot either i do love it when it's little bit cold and warm too and thanks for letting us know to don't wipe just dab our poop number 2 thanks for that advice but at the sametime it doesn't matter to me if i wipe or dab i love to do both but i do agree that it's hard to clean ourselves using a tissue and yes water does help make it easy for us to clear our poop number 2 my mom did move to us to that place that it does have that water squirter for the toilet but before we never had water squirter at all because not alot of places have that at all i just sometimes i used tissue or paper towel add water to me sometimes for my poop if i'm having trouble getting rid of the poop stains by using the bathroom sink water but i still do love to wipe as well sure i love to dab too and i used to pee on the bed alot i got in trouble for it my mom and family would beat my behind when i was a kid back in the day because they were not ok with me accidentally pee on the bed i do wish they didn't beat me up for peeing on the bed because i didn't mean to pee on the bed we just don't have no control if that happens to some of us i think it's ok for us to make mistakes and have flaws i love embrace my flaws i also think there is no such thing as perfect i think it's ok to not be perfect i never want it to be perfect anyway i don't like that the majority of society always want us to be perfect even tho there is no such thing as perfect and i want to share that i don't drink no alcohol, i don't do no drugs and i don't smoke at all but i respect everyone's free will if some choose to do drugs, drink alcohol and smoke and some that don't do no drugs, don't drink alcohol and don't smoke and i also wanna say that i always fear needles i just always hate it needles so much but i think it's ok if some don't fear needles that love needles and some that hate and fear needles i do agree resonate most say the doctors that give us needles shots are just stealing our blood some of us just don't trust docters at all i do agree resonate we never need doctors we can heal ourselves the martix world don't want us to know how powerful we truly are and there are some that do think we do need doctors and i do resonate agree most say that death is an illusion that we are not actual those avatar bodies we are beyond that yes the body dies but our real true form never dies it lives on forever we can always be reborn reincarnated into other dimensions sure some of us don't remember our past life and there are some that do remember there past life
@@ReWildUniversity thank you so much for always respecting my wishes being uunderstanding free will by also seeing keep doing what i'm doing because the majrotiy is not understanding close minded disrespectful but i know not all are like that i know there are some in the miniroty that are respectful open minded i just wish we had more like that who our differences and thanks for sharing you love that i both give people free choice and yet also make such healthy choices for myself i really appreciate you saying that i hope you have a great day!
"Other such delightful topics" I hope the YT algorithm doesn't start sending me more content that's gone down the commode after watching this. 🤣🤣🤣 I used to be a worrier; it kinda runs in my dad's side, but for the last at least decade, I gave that up. Same time, though, I kinda stay away from doctors; especially those ones that like playing with tails. *shudder* If you have smeary butt, you're wiping wrong. I do some and then hop in the shower and get all nice and shiny again in there. Way I understand, fasting is actually good for you now and then, as a way to give your system a chance to try to work out some toxins out of the system. Times I've done it, it's doable, but kind of annoying. Some say they feel extra good during/after it, I haven't personally noticed a real difference, but I don't eat a whole whole lot to begin with. I guess my final takeaway is don't plan to take a long casual drive while going through this process >>:=p If you're worried about leakage, sleep outside LOL
No family history? A vegan? Do the stool blood test. If negative and no diarrhoea or constipation especially if both then a colonoscopy is not needed. They schedule these based on the average American white male. Do the stool blood test once a year. Kitty has a mild family history. She goes for these and hates them. I do not. Bit pointless. Glad you got a video out of it Kenton but next time live stream it 😂
No thanks. I'm not getting one....ever. No mammogram either. I don't trust Doctors at all, but if i get in an accident and my arm can be reattached, id be so grateful for a Doctor to attach it because id prefer to live with my arm. Did you decide to get this done because of your age? If I dont feel healthy is any way, i dont go to the Doctor. I start fasting. I love fasting. Its even easier than controlling everything I eat. I love OMAD.
Awesome, Sherri! Here in the US they recommend one at age 45 then every 10 years. Still, I wasn't sure about doing it. However, I have some family history, so my doctor advised I at least get one. I can definitely understand your feelings about doctors. I've got a great one though -- when I visit her we usually have very long conversations about how she's trying to get people to eat better and move their bodies -- she's all about lifestyle instead of prescriptions. Loved your example with the arm -- yes, modern medicine can be useful in some cases, indeed, lol!!!
I got my first mammogram about a decade ago. It came back clear, but before the nurse lady gave me my good news, she put on a little act. I kid you not! She came in with a long face, made a big dramatic pause, took a long, deep breath to build up the suspense, then told me I was perfectly healthy. I was PISSED. Still am actually. WTAF? Anyway, I too avoid doctors & I'm just starting to learn about the literal magic of fasting! I just completed a 48 hour fast & I'm going to turn fasting into my #1 health preservation tool!
What the heck? That's horrible. So sad you had to go through that. YES to the fasting -- Sherri is awesome with it, and I've found great power in it as well. =)
@ReWildUniversity I completely understand and respect your choice...your body. It's great that you are informing those who are also having one. I've always had a rule about that hole....exit only, haha. Sometimes I think I'm too comfortable with dying, lol. It's my strong belief in the afterlife. I love God. I truly can't wait to go home. With that being said, I have a 22 year old daughter whom I adore and cherish and it would be very sad for her. I'm sure I will live to be 100...ugh, haha.
Brah... if you are not having any symptoms... these tests do more harm than good. Dont search for problems that dont exist. These people are dying to find something wrong with you. They may find something that they classify as an issue, but in reality you could have lived to 90 with it without any issues.
That may be true in some cases -- medicine is very money-driven. But you can also form relationships with your doctors, and they aren't all of the same mindset. Yes, modern medicine has a bad rep these days, but I'd hesitate to lump all doctors into one group. In this case, the report came back with nothing found at all, which does give evidence that they weren't skewing results.
@@ReWildUniversity Nah... this is just a test that the try and get everyone to take at a certain age because insurance pays for it. I need a real good reason to let someone cram something up there... and paid for by insurance is not a good enough reason.
@bkkorner Kenton, please don't let people discourage you. While I am sure both of us see where they're coming from, no one can speak to each person's unique situation. I have my first screening this week, because I am at higher risk due to previous radiation. I so appreciate you covering this topic!
Kenton, I won't follow you anymore if you keep using AI art. You don't need it, and these algorithms are created with heavy use of stolen art and near slave labor in data parcing centers.
I'd like to get your opinion on Firefly. My understanding is that Adobe is taking a different approach than other generation software. Have you researched them? That's what I used here, with the understanding that they are taking a more ethical approach. Perhaps I am incorrect?
