floating is as easy as just holding your breath at first and then when your legs are near the surface breathing slowly but not letting too much air out at once.

Main thing is don't panic.....The first thing we will do is PANIC!
@RocketSwimming
@RocketSwimming Год назад
Haha, that's so true! It's natural to feel panicked when faced with a new and challenging situation like swimming. But remember, staying calm and focused is key to overcoming that panic and improving your skills. So take a deep breath, trust in yourself and your abilities, and don't let the fear of the unknown hold you back. You got this!

Amazing video thank you I was looking for such video even I have swimming instructor who didn't tell me how to jump to deep water! You mentioned about treading water do you have to keep your mouth open to get more air in your lungs and exhale through nose?
@RocketSwimming
@RocketSwimming 11 месяцев назад
I'm glad you found the video helpful! When treading water, keeping your mouth open while breathing can help you take in more air. Exhaling through your nose is a good practice to maintain a consistent rhythm. Remember, everyone's preference can vary, so find what works best for you and helps you stay relaxed in the water! 🌊🏊‍♀️

I taught myself free style using swimmers snorkel so i could do laps never having learned to swim or even dunk my head so it took me a while to get over fear of water and then watching youtube vids to learn how to freestyle and am still mastering side breathing but still not able to go more than 5 breaths but wont quit. i am 69 years old. problem is i feel i have to be in water not over my head. Not sure what to do in deep water or deep end of pool and wish i could feel no fear. i go to lake right now but soon will be cold again.
@RocketSwimming
@RocketSwimming Год назад
You should definitely swim in a pool instead of lake. I highly suggest you to learn floating on your back. We have how to float on your back video in our channel. Once you learn floating you'll gain confidence to step into the deeper end of the pool. Another tip is to stand directly under shower. Let the water hit your face directly. It'll be hard to breath but after a while you'll get comfortable with water over your face. Can you please send me your swim videos so I can personally give you tips or suggestions. You can send your videos to me on jonny@rocketswimming.com 😁 - Niraj (CDO)

@@RocketSwimming Unfortunately I have no videos and do this alone. It is difficult to have to figure it out on my own. I do not have a problem with my head under water since i do freestyle swim but swim in 4 feet only at lake. i have also done laps at gym a year ago. I am afraid to go on my back. I could try it again. I have done it two years ago but perhaps if i start at gym again this fall i could hold back of pool edge. So if I could float and get myself in that position quickly without fear I probably could do deep end? This is what I am thinking. That would be great. My daughter has a deep end pool but i wont go because i hate seeing the bottom. I appreciate your willingness to help me. That is so nice of you.

@@RocketSwimming private Lesson? arent you far away? How is that possible? Just curious and appreciate your input. I think of if i do go on my back and was able to move arms and legs so i could float over to deep end then my you have to then stand or turn over and I am just not there yet....oh my. how to flip over at that point YIKES

Tried more breaststrokes after jumping, also tried doing backstroke after jumping as well as treading water. Also first time I swam at deep water with no floties and no Swimclass (still safty guard present). Getting close to being able to passing the definition of swimming in my country which is "Jump on deep water, swim 200 meters where 50 meters need to be on your back, no rest and not touching the pool bottom". Didn't expect this at the start of the New Year (then I hadn't swim in 10 years).
