I keep most of this stuff in my purse & i could live out of my car or rv if i had too. I usually don’t wear cargo pants (since I like to dress like the female I am) so have other clothing, bobs, etc. if I have to hoof it. I’m constantly running scenarios & honing preps. It’s only a pain when my car needs any work done, as I remove all my preps since I don’t trust anyone not to steal stuff. Then it’s just an opportunity to update stuff. NONE of my friends/family/kids do this even though I made “car kits” for my kids, which they seemed to promptly lose or whatever. My car came in very handy when my daughter was hit head-on & was in a coma 18 yrs. ago & lived 11 hrs. away. I didn’t have to think about packing for the family- we just left immediately. You can’t think well under that kind of stress when an ER dr. asks you how fast can you get there as she might not survive. Luckily, she made a great recovery. Another time my car preps literally saved my life while on vacation and I was stung by an Asian hornet. I had transferred my first aid kit into my hub’s car for the trip since he has a whimpy kit in his. He was able to treat me as everything was organized & labeled well & save my life since I wouldn’t have made it to the closest ER 45 min. away. Appreciate all your great tips over the years:)

I have most of what you mentioned in my van. I am always thinking about how a certain tool etc. could be utilized in a emergency. Or what kind of clothes and gear to have extra. Being homeless for a short time about 15 years ago in the winter was no joke. You quickly realize that you have to do things a certain way to survive. It might sound crazy but I am thankful to Jesus for being homeless because it taught me a lot. I am also a RN so I carry different bandages and medical gear. I love your channels Ritchie! Tea lights are an awesome resource that people don't realise. If you have the luxury of being in a tent or a car a few tea lights especially the good ones that last 24 hours will keep that sucker nice and toasty. I've actually used them when the power has gone out in the winter time and had no heat. I taped off a room with garbage bags or hung blankets and the room was warm as hell. Wouldn't even know the power was out.

Good stuff, RFB. Great tips here; and most importantly you focus on awareness of the risks and difficulties of surviving in "cool" (cold-af to most) conditions. [A simple trail ride can turn into an outdoor, overnight stay. You never know. Are you prepared?] in this age, Shelter, Heat, Water, and Power are the primary goals. 1) Right on with the live-tree shelter. Always avoid areas with dead trees, especially in the winter. A tarp, or pile of snow and/or branches can help with wind deflection. 2) The ability to generate heat - at least from the woods around you, but including heating items you bring with - is paramount. Keep in mind the renewability of that bring-along source. The birch bark tip is a great source of starter for areas where they grow. 3) Keep PDA batts (phone, 18650's) warm is key if you only have your vehicle to keep it charged (recharged) AND you are counting on said PDA AS THE ONLY source of communication (voice, text, CB) and information (GPS, weather). Ditto gas-based lighting devices like a BIC or a Zippo 4) Eye fatigue is a real thing. Ski goggles for the worst of times, sunglasses for most of the rest. 4) Water filtration and purification - they are NOT the same thing and BOTH are a must for a reliable, long-term resource. 5) The EEB (BOB, GOBAG) is a must. And the other information resources are fantastic. Just to add: A tarp (8x10) or two and a container of short-ish bungees with hook-ends can go a long way in a pinch. Having sharp edges in any of their manifest shapes is always a value-add - from a pocket knife to a chain saw. Personal moisture barrier. The bag you show in this video...does it 'breathe' beyond the closure device (zipper, Velcro)? Keep up the great work!

I purchased Kevins' book before the livestream video ended. Also, there's a line of Bushcraft books on Amazon that are awesome resources. We all know it's coming; best to make hay while the sun is shining, "but I digress". I'm on a few acres and have been fortunate enough to have PLENTY of trees, etc to fine tune my skills b4 I am in a situation, "so there's that". ALWAYS a pleasure Richie!
