If that motor came from an EM1 than it's a b16a2, which is the 97 VTEC del sol engine in the US. 96 got that motor in other countries. 94-96(US) came with b16a3 factory. 92-93 we only had the SI(z6) till 94 when the Vtec was introduced. Not a huge upgrade but def an upgrade for a sol to have the 97 motor. Plus the em1 trans has shorter gears yeah? Def now 100% zippier

The old motor was definitely abused and/or neglected. These motors never fail catastrophically or even explode in normal use. These are so well built they only die almost always under abuse and/or neglect.

If you got to keep the head off the other engine, be cool to see an LSV/B20V build for your wife's race car!
