Looks amazing. We're getting ready to have our patio done with swirl pattern. One question... no expansion joints for that length of sidewalk? How do you know whether you need them or not?

Absolutely needed. And I really hope he comes back in the morning to sawcut into all equal squares. But he should've tool cut them so they match the edge. Picture frame finish

My record was 800 square feet by myself with a swirl finish. 10 out of 10 do not recommend that, I thought I was gonna die. Get a helper haha

How long after the concrete is set do you usual start to work on the surface !?

It’s not when or where… it’s the type of concrete you order vs the temperature, time of day of pour, and knowing the concrete as it cures… it’s an art form… if you’re a homeowner, I suggest doing small pads first so you get an understanding of how many times you work it with a float, level off those rocks, build the cream to the top, and babysit it… it’s an art that takes years to learn… after you screet with 2x4 you have a rough idea of level, through extra concrete where you have holes or low points, then work it with a float by hand and work the concrete with a float, wooden or plastic, metal float is for final finish…

Also once it starts setting up you need to hit it with a edger, I recommend getting a edger with a handle, because you’re new and it’s about how you finesse the edger, or do it by hand. I think it’s easier getting a stick for the edger so it’s uniform for new beginners.. I wouldn’t recommend doing concrete yourself unless you’re a mason…

@Mason the Mason What it SHOULD look like is tool cut joints after the swirls so they match the edge... Rookie mistake im sure the homeowner wont notice👍

I use the mag to swirl finish. Philly area. The broom always removes some amount of cream off of the top. That cream gives the top longevity.

Great work friend.. never done stamp finish or the swirl finish, I’m a civil foreman, it’s nice to see these videos… I do all the concrete myself, as well as block walls… I’ve noticed 3000psi 5 sack pea gravel is important to do these types of finishes… maybe mention in your future videos, the type of concrete you have is crucial…

Takes a little practice
