MultiTerpen thats why races are often in classes. So that its about the driver and not about car performance

+Christian Kunert ......Yeah,,,.. Gotta luv it.... Driving a Clio. ....Professional driver Hurley Haywood as our lead instructor when at Road Atlanta was introducing the class of 10 students to the details of the tract,.. all the while driving a 12 passenger Dodge van.... With the van fully loaded he drove the van around Road Atlanta like only a pro could.....Unbelievable...
@captainslav6528
@captainslav6528 8 лет назад
+MultiTerpen At higher professional levels the car can make a big difference because everyone is at a similar level , there isn't a massive difference between the drivers at that level. But at normal track days the drivers skill levels vary quite a bit so it's not uncommon to see someone driving a really fast car getting passed by a better driver in a slower car. The faster car will of course help the slower drivers a bit especially if there car has better tyres but they won't be able to use it's full potential.

Started playing AC on a sim, I dove into the nordschleife head on in a gt86, it took quite some time to get a run in without majorly screwing up. I got a lap time of 9:32.382, I'm glad I have this video to help me lower my times down.

I drove the Nordschleife last summer. Even though I drive a Ferrari at home, and race often, I made LOTS of mistakes here! I was passed by Clios and Meganes. I truly realized that track knowledge is crucial. Much more important than horsepower. There were 9 accidents on the day I went. So If you are planning to drive the Nordschleife, plan the drive and learn the corners. Armco is expensive and paying for a new racecar is even more so! That being said, my laps on the Nordshcleife were some of the best memories I have.

Simply the best. I always come back to this video. This should be the textbook for how this is done. Forget the nonsense spouted by Misha, who just shouts an endless series of meaningless instructions at you. This here, is the right level of information, delivered calmly, concisely and with clearly a deep level of understanding. Just gold standard!

That's a great instructional video. Thanks for posting. I've been 3 times now, about 40 laps and can appreciate your advice. My fastest lap is 9:45, however I can see where I can carry more speed in some of the corners. Still better to enjoy a little slower lap and be able to drive home afterwards than try to be a hero!

Not everyone in a Ferrari has enough money, to smash them every once in a while, some people made lifetime investmensts in those cars. But I know, I´m on youtube and you guys are all pro racers, doing Norschleife under 7 minutes in MK II Golf diesel.

@SI0AX 8 лет назад
+BollocksUtwat Yeah, what good is a powerful car when you don't have the skills to control it? Best to start off with a lightweight FWD with low power. Just like the one the instructor is driving. Then when you get more skill, change to a powerful AWD and then a RWD. At least that's what I'm going to do, when I start track days.
@TheSkyline35

TheSkyline35 The 1st gen Subaru Imprezza RS is like $2000 + $4000 for the JDM turbo engine swap or you could just leave the car with the stock engine or you could get the 2002 Subaru WRX for like $4,000 and rebuild the transmission for like $2,000... kinda the same...
@TheSkyline35

A subaru at 2000$ might not be very reliable, also in France, they cost way more :'(

I'm doing the nordschleife in the summer hopefully. It all depends on the gearing that you have. Some people swap gearboxes, ratios, wheels and tires. It is stupid to say don't use the second gear, since this is not a Renault Clio guide.
@konstantinospergantis5640
@konstantinospergantis5640 9 лет назад
i think that this guide is more about a "safe" lap on a normal day...and in most sims and most cars while it's certainly faster using 2nd gear in some cars u can absolotely do a very fast lap without putting 2nd at all
@after_midnight9592

darek4488 2nd might get your wheels spinning when powering out of the corner. So it's much safer to leave in 3rd and you save two shifts.
