This technique would come in handy for family holiday gatherings if you want to do something more creative than the typical living room group shot. Great tutorial.
I have always stayed away from hot lights because I'm afraid to have to use a long shutter or high ISO. what camera settings are you using with hot lights?
Both the full body shots were at around ISO 200, f/5.6, 1/125s I believe - these were taken with relatively pricey LED panels, as you tend to pay a bit more for a higher output on a panel - but swap the panels out for single chip LEDs and you'd have just as bright an output for much cheaper. Sometimes it's just a little easier to use hot lights when you're constricted by things like space, as it can be a little easier to find the tools to shape light (as is the case with the projection mount in the video), change colour temperature with bi-color units, and fit things like panels in tight spaces. Plenty of ways to achieve similar results though, always ideal to choose what works best for the situation or how you prefer to shoot! 😁
