I love watching the care you put into your beautiful pups. I'm a fan of the large breed dogs. I wish that many people would train the dogs in such a loving manner. Thank you for this video.
I've been training my puppies with treats and I find that when I taught them things like sit and down, I would transition from treats to toys and then to just verbal praise!
peachy pie I primarily use toys or just play in general and it seems to work fine for me, but when I did use treats for my first dog I just slowly using less treats until he got to the point to where he didn't expect treats and it was just muscle memory at that point. At least for me though I find using play is just more fun and effective.
Richard Santana Yeah, I use play as well but I find it's easier to get their attention with food. They're only about 11 weeks old so they don't have very good attention span
Hi Rachel I love your videos, tips, and training techniques. I completely agree with you on peraza training. When I had my little one (Bug who is now 110 lbs) in a puppy class the trainer would get mad because I would not use very many treats. She tried telling me Bug is to young to understand and wouldn't pick up the training. Boy did my girl prove her wrong. Lol!!
This is great! Only thing I noticed is (I take my cane corso to training and they said this) not to "hold on to the breaks" the whole time. Meaning when the dog is not pulling you want to practice a loose leash so they can determine the difference between walking versus tugging the leash to correct. Noticed the guy has a tight leash even when Velocity isn't pulling. Otherwise, it's great you guys are taking them out for socialization and training :)
I'm so addicted to watching your videos 🤗Found you by accident about a month ago and so wish I knew about you sooner. However better late than never. I've always rescued abused dogs and been successful training them, but feel that after watching you train without treats would have been so much better for my dogs. You are a very well informed and educated dog breeder/owner and love all your dogs, and have mad respect for you. Keep them coming.
Its pretty cool to see two almost same dogs with different behavior/nature and they way how they respond to the owner commands. I experience the same with my 7 mnths old stafford puppy, usually very distracted on the very beginning when outside but within a time and similar approach the dog learns. I can say that its all a 100% true, great material for beginners, watch and learn :)
I am preparing to bring my Cane Corso puppy home. Your videos are extremely helpful. Thank you for sharing your beautiful dogs and important information and training on this breed. You are the best.
Really informative videos you make, that an owner can benefit the most by watching them! Such videos helped me train my lovely dog when I took the liberty of doing it by myself having, back then a lot of free time to read and being well prepared before I was sure I could start training. Unfortunately where I reside there are not many trainers that use methods like yours and most of them either use unnecessary force and violence or they are not qualified enough to read a dogs response to various situations that might occur along the process. Keep up the wonderful work and you have such a beautiful and well mannered pack!
As always I'm loving the videos! I thankfully know the majority of this but love love love watching this as I have two puppies I'm working with lol and enjoy the reminder/motivation! Great ideas!! Love that this is out there for people! Alex? You are doing a great job too man! Love to see you helping out with all these babies! I hope you are watching y'alls puppy videos over there 😂 😂 Btw! I was watching a video you posted yesterday while I was in Bellavista(Ar) and then drove 25ish minutes back home to Rogers(Ar) and you jumped from 14k to 17k subscribers!!! In 25 mins!!!!! You are doing such an amazing job girl!!!! You are helping so many people!! 😘😘🤗🤗🙌🏼🙌🏼
Deana Jones right!! Just 5 people that need to be slapped 👋🏻lol 😂 Eehh everyone has their own interpretations/thoughts and unfortunately there is always going to be those who "hate" for no real reason. And in all honesty Rachael explains herself well and the videos(I personally feel like) are very neutral if I can put it that way, no reason to even "dislike". But their "view" of the video actually helps Rachael out on RU-vid so who cares lol.
Hi find some of your methods useful and was wondering for some advise. My American bulldog does this thing where if she sees another dog or even person in the distance she'll sit and refuse to budge until they get close enough for her to evaluate them, then she'll say hi and continue fine. Just wondered if theirs a way I can break this habit because she's 11 months now and I can't see her growing out of it. Thanks
i have a pair of bullmastiff's 4 months old and generally all the mastiff breeds have a similar traits/behaviour ....ur videos have been really helpful for me as im a first time giant breed owner... i have had other dog breeds before but its my first large breed....i bet when u started making these video's u had no idea ull be helping people all over the world...i live in Pakistan....i do use dog treats but today ive realised ur point avout excitement.... and ur correct ...but my dogs dont do the sit command without it...sometimes i notice they even sit even before i give the command ..just to get the treat i guess...any other helpful training videos shall be appreciated...specially off leash training
What age are you taking your puppies out for walks and dog parks? My puppy is currently 10 weeks and my vet suggested to wait until 16 weeks, however I'm a bit concern with socialization since the only other animals.
Love your videos. Im struggling with my pit/lab. She's very sweet with my 4 kids and listens at home but outside the home all listening goes out the window and she's having a hard time with meeting new people and other dogs😞.
We have a 3 year old rescued pit bull. He can sit, lay down, wait to eat on command, but he won’t stay if we’re outside and will only calm his pulling down when on a pull collar which I hate, but it’s all that works. Any suggestions? I try to use tactics to get his attention but it doesn’t seem to work outside.
I love your videos! Absolutely amazing and consistent. I do have a question though. I feel like I have read somewhere that pushing their (bigger dog breeds/muscular dog breeds)hips down can cause hip issues later on in life? I am not sure I believe that to be true unless your forcefully slamming them down, but i noted you do gently push and tempt for them to sit. I am curious if that is accurate information or not. I used treats and praise to teach my dog to sit and stay and she does it without the treats easily at 2 years of age now.
Vampiress02 that's just internet rumor there's always people trying to blame other things for hip dysplasia than what it really is which is overweight dogs and actual skeletal issues that are genetic. I've always done the same thing with preacher and he has hips that are rated in the top 5% of the breed.
Senza Tempo Cane Corso Thank you for answering me ^^ I truly appreciate it. I was just curious since some people around me with dogs make it sound like fact, so I figured I would ask someone who would know better. Thanks again! Have a great day!
Stankin' Thankin' she just has a really high temperament and her excitement level gets too high which causes her to whine a lot it will go away as she matures.
Any other advice my puppy is 4 months and still having trouble sitting down or doing any other commands any other advice will help please and thank you 🙏
how do you get your puppies to walk on the leash? i also have a cane corso and she's 4 months but she won't walk with the leash, she's very stubborn and will just sit and not walk, and I've tried everything I've tried calling her to walk or I've tried to get her to walk with her toys in front of her so she'll walk but she doesn't.
I notice Alex tends to walk the dogs on his right. Does it matter which side the dog is on and would that effect what way you would put the check collar on? Genuine question as I was under the impression the check would slide over top of neck rather than pulling up under neck? Could you please comment?
What do you do if they dont listen or lift their lip when you correct them. I have a 2yo uncut lab/eng bull male and he sometimes gets aggressive in that sense.
Sarah Nelson have you ever asserted your dominance? Are you pack leader? Probably not. You might need to show whos boss. I would look into methods of re asserting dominance. A common method is the pin method but i would recommend getting more advice on the subject. Its usually something you wanna start young. I wont recommend forcing a pin on a full grown aggressive dog because i dont know all the issues with your dog. Could be fearful etc.
I’m sorry for my ignorance but I am very interested in why a kid can be scary to a dog? I just adopted a dog that seems to be a pit mix but I am nervous about introducing him to my 1 year old nephews. What would you suggest? I would like to avoid any dangerous situations. What would you suggest? Thank you!!! Lovely pack ♥️
Cintya López a lot of it depends on the dog. Dogs with high drive, can be tempted to chase a child (not necessarily to hurt them) because they’re small and moving fast, like their balls and toys. Also, a child is close to their eye level, so they can’t help put to pretty much see eye to eye, and a dog that is very dominant aggressive can feel challenged and turn aggressive.
when i put the pup in a sit when im out and about she lays down is that her being lazy or the opposite kinda like fu dad she also sits like a puppy off to the side and the vet says her hips are ok so i think she is just being lazt and stuburn
Where do I start with a pitbull? Any recommendations? Any channels that cover them like you do with your breed? I’m thinking of getting a shelter(pitbull) dog because I really want one and I think they look so beautiful.
What do I do if my pit puppy who's about 3 months keeps snapping at me and trying to bite me ? I know she's teething but when she tries to bite me I say no and try to get her to stop but she thinks it's a game and tried to bite my finger off :/
Make her submit by pinning her could help calm her. Also dont always go into play mode with tickles etc everytime you interact with her. You are responsible for directing her behavior where needed. Stay patient and keep correcting her, pups will be pups. Just my 2cents I would not recommend yelping then ignoring her, that will show her shes higher rank because you're submitting by backing off. Correct the behavior using the least amount of force necessary as the wonderful lady in this channel always says. Start with verbal correction, make her sit and if that doesnt work pin her till she submits. Calm, patient and assertive like.
Jay Tre dominance theory has been disproven a long time ago. Even the guy who originally wrote about it has said it’s BS and doesn’t want his old books published anymore.
I'm a certified dog trainer, & your constant suggestions that using treats in training is wrong is ridiculous. Positive reinforcement training used in conjunction with dog psychology is the Ideal way to train a dog. The fact that you think giving treats isn't a good way to train shows how much you truly don't know. & before you start in with some nonsense regarding cane corsos, I've owned Tosa Inu's my entire life, a dog easily as hard as any corso. I enjoy most of your videos, & you Truly are very knowledgeable, but your anti positive reinforcement rhetoric is beyond ridiculous.
Ok first of all😒 she never ever said treat training is wrong..... Stfu!! She actually said she didn't think it was the best because after they learn the trick they have to relearn it without treats.
Ashley Adcock in fact, watch more than 1 you uneducated fanboy, because I've watched a lot of her videos. & she Constantly bashes most any positive reinforcement.
Aaron Keener If anybody really watches her videos you see that she uses training by the psychology of pack mentality. She reads the body language very very well, she then responses accordingly. Rachel is a very loving pack alpha mother. She might discipline her dogs, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t love them. When they do good she reinforces the good. In this video she even demonstrates how she reinforces a action with a verbal positive response. I don’t think she saying that treat training is bad. With treat training you have to be prepared for the possibility of rebuttal on the dogs part when the treat is taken away. That being said there are many many ways to train an animal.
