My boss acts like she wants people to listen to her go on about everything she has wrong with her and being the empathetic person I am would be in her office listening way too long until I noticed the pattern of going to tell her I have a migraine or whatever and her saying "I'm sorry". She makes me think of my covert narcissist mother and honestly I've thought of slapping her but I haven't found another job so I avoid her as much as possible,

Same here for me. My previous supervisor from my first job reminded me of my narcissistic mother because of her lack of empathy.

@@snowqueen24 Doesn't it just make you sick?! My boss will show empathy to the ones she prefers. You know the ones who don't do their jobs, while I'm killing myself, which makes it even more like my mother who always treated my brother like a King and me like the scapegoat which was what I was.

I literally can’t comprehend the thought of Feeling someone else’s emotions I can understand them and I can feel guilt but if someone’s in pain, I can’t empathize with that

Honestly same. I can understand logically what someone's feeling, why they are feeling it and how to help, but someone else's suffering has no effect on my own emotional state.

Congratulations. You both have low or no empathy. Don't let this bitch convince you that it's wrong. It's just a form of neurodivergence and it can be difficult to handle if you struggle to notice or understand how others feel but it's not a moral issue. It doesn't make you a bad person. You don't have to feel a certain way, ever, as long as you act kindly. - With love, a fellow low empathy person

I’m really glad I’m not alone in this I was seriously worried for a long time that there were something wrong with me cause I would sit in a conversation hearing about someone’s feelings and just feel awkward and want to get away so it’s a relief to hear that I’m not completely on my own with this

@@flip7335 You are definitely not alone, its probably more common than people admit tbh. I often feel like I'm less human because of my inability to absorb others feelings. I'm super uncomfortable around people's strong emotions because I really don't know how to handle them.

It not away that simple with some people they might feel what you feel but they were ever shown how to help I have a lot of empathy but I don't alway understand what I'm feeling nor how to help someone feel better my cat died today I couldn't understand why the vet nor my grandmother would help save him nor why my grandmother didn't understand that I was upset that i didn't get the choice to hold him in his final moments I didn't relies I maybe feel emotion differently for her

See this is the issue . Atm I am dealing with a narc ex and it’s real and for years now and At times When I’m Hearing this about empaths is almost because we’re so empathetic, we wonder if because I wasn’t empathetic enough to the one who hurt us and all those characteristics and facts . It makes me wonder if I am The bad one at times n It’s like , what did I do wrong , what did I not do or say or feel or am I missing something . That’s a feeling Iv had out there for a long time and wondered . Why is this happening why and what did I do , I’m The one who is watching all these things happening and going through it and being lied to and “all those Things are real “ it can br because we are empaths that we feel guilt and shame and yes that is a part of the cycle . They do a great job at the gaslighting and this is real . I just sent this to mine after again making it my fault and yeah .. details , just ask if you wish , I sent ⛽️ 💡 🔥 ! And goodbye ! It just never ends . If you don’t give them what they want and need then your a hostage with your life 💝

This video reminds me that in Philip K. Dick's sci-fi novel "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep", which became the foundation of the movie "Bladerunner", empathy is the characteristic that is used to distinguish humans from robots.

Red flag? I think you need more explanation otherwise it sounds like empathetic person should avoid one with lack of empathy. We can that way ditch everyone around us for lacking some kind of emotion/behave

@@goxyeagle8446 yeah that's exactly the point. Ableists like her think it's bad to lack empathy. They don't understand it's a brain function not everyone can perform especially if you struggle with things like social cues or alexithymia (seriously how are you supposed to recognize how others feel if you can't identify your own feelings?). Pop psychology is literally just ableism, support narcissists and support people with low or no empathy, support everyone with stigmatized disorders and symptoms, and actually raise awareness for these conditions (that are often disabling, a disability themselves, or at least are caused by a disability) and strategies to cope healthily and demonstrate kindness even without feeling the "right" feelings.

How to know someinevis empath ? First of all empathy could be cognitive empathy and acting ...too . But a non empath can never listen to sad songs , poems,poetry ... Why ? They just cant feel this emotions poetry poems ,sad song song with great lyrics involves lot of feeling and they dont feel . If someone does this ,its highly likely that oe5son 8s empath

Also a red flag if she requires a Huge amount of empathy and care in the beginnings of a relationship. As a father of small children - they require so much empathy in raising them i dont have extra to pour out on a grown woman who has bad day after bad day
