Uneven flow of gas to the burner or grill a tell tale sign that you have a bad regulator. Propane gas may still flow if the regulator is bad, but the flow will not be consistent.
Have a brand new 3 burner gas grill and the regulator seems screwed up, yes it's on the correct way, arrow towards the grill. But when I open the ball valve ahead of the regulator and go to light the grill, I hear a quick poof of gas then the gas flow shuts off . You think the regulator is defective? No idea why the gas flow stops , running thru a 1/2" pipe in and out of the regulator, an the faired fitting is 3/8" to the grill. It's running from a 300 gallon pig tank, if I take the line to the grill from the regulator the flow keep flowing, but hooked up to the grill , one poof and gas flow stops, any ideas.? Great video and info now help me out please Like all your info. 👍👍
I don't think it is the regulator usually the propane will still flow, but it is eratic and you don't have control of turning the flame up or down. It sounds like the safety valve inside the service/fill port might be kicking in. Try disconnecting your hose from the tank and reconnect it. that usually resets the safety valve. That should get you flowing again. Here is link to a video on reseting the safety valve: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-fIyuuUPr_ww.html Hope this helps!
@@cookingwithcoastalcaterers Thanks my friend but think you misunderstood, or I didn't explain , the tank is 400 feet away, it's a 300 gallon pig. The supply goes to the house, reg. just before the regulator for the house it T's off to the grill 25 feet away in a 1" supply line, just before the grill the 1'' is necked down to a 1/2" steel pipe with a valve just before the regulator, that's about 15 inches from the grill, Now when you turn the valve on the regulator lets gas flow without being connected, when you connect the line to the grill, and turn the valve on, you can hear a poof of gas at the burner , then nothing, take the supply line off at the regulator and nothing comes out, shutt of the valve just before the regulator and open it back up and gas flows thru the reg. That's the problem. without being connected it flows propane, connected to the grill it poofs one poof of gas then nothing. Thanks for the reply. Hope you get what I taking about. DB
I just purchased Royal Gourmet grill - my issue is with regulator and maybe the valve. What happens is that if I open the tank valve, as I have all my other grill, burner valve have no control over flame it just goes to full even on low. They sent me a new regulator thinking that the wasn't working, it does the same thing. The best I can do is just crack open the tank valve to get what seems to a flame that is controllable. My feeling is that the regulators supplied are set to high, but I can't find out as I can't find out what all the numbers on the regulator mean, and I can't find any meaning full in on the regulator packaging as to its setting the best I see once in awhile low pressure but nothing tells what that might be. One would think that with such hazardous item there would be more details available. What your thoughts. Thanks for the time.
That defiitely sounds like a regulator issue. It could be that the regulators they are using are not quality, that seems to be the case these days with a lot of parts. The only other time a the flame should act like that if the regular is not bad, or is not the correct one, is when the tank is getting ready to go empty.
If there are multiple burners working of the same regulator and only one burner is not working right, you may have an obstruction in that burner. Maybe some rust flakes are causing a slight blockage. Gas by not be flowing properly for that reason.
One other thing it could be is it is leaking where the hoses attach to the regulator are a not tightened all the way. Some setups won’t let you tighten the hoses, but if you can maybe try tightening the hoses before replacing the regulator.
