The stator (on this bike) is for charging only. Many other models have the pickup or charge coil wound in the stator and would require it to be connected. Thank you. just heat isnt enought to say your coil or something else is bad. you should check the voltages and resistance. Between the stator coils and to the battery negative as you see in the video.

With all the makes and models out there (along with special tools required) and the risk of actually causing damage when testing. I stay clear of testing the CDI and verify all else is correct. I could walk you through it all if needed and the good thing is the tool is only $38 (link below) The closest thing I have as of now is this tester on Seconday ignition. ru-vid.comsearch?query=ignition This would at least show is anything measurable is coming out of the coil. I wouldn't want to assume but as far as any model I've worked on the three wires do not matter on order. The wires are sized to length and install in the connector in a relaxed position and not "twisted". To be absolutely certain we could look into. I have the same issue. I replaced the stator and rotor. Still the same issue. No voltage from the stator. The brushes are good. I'm going to return the new stator and rotor for new units.
