Yes you can check any time, in rainy season if the earth pit is wet then it will show good value. In summer it will show little less if earthing made properly.

Pit value and grid value always less than 1 ohm is the best. But you can use upto 3 ohm

No shock you will get. The test conducted by this device with very low voltage. But if you are checking a neutral earthing point of a live / Charged Transformer. You will be definitely electrocuted by heavy shock. Only in this case you have to Off Power Transformer when checking it's neutral ground earthing or ngr earthing. Very good question you asked and it is very important.

Dono probe me ek hi voltage pass karega isliye dono ko short karke dono me ek voltage pass hota hai aur usme kitna current draw hua usi hisab se resistance calculation hota hai. Dono ka same voltage hoga to average sahi niklega.

Ek earth pit ko do alag alag jagah pe laga ke test karna hai, Jo bhi reading ayega agar 0.5 ohm ke niche hai to wo bilkul perfect hai. Agar use jyada hai tab apko earthing ke quality improve karna padega, nahi to Naya earthing karna padega.
