as someone who continuously tests optics these tracking targets are an absolute must and have saved me a world of issues before I even went out shooting long range, it helped me in instances when communicating with manufacturer when their riflescopes don't work properly.
in this video we were using the
-Tikka UPR chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor (of course the greatest cartridge ever made)

Warne Precision scope mounts are top tier scope rings, using quality equipment is essential, knowing that your rings are firmly holding your optic will give you the confidence to shoot further.
-Tract Toric UHD 4.5-30-56 ELR now when I decided to do this test I wanted an optic that performs something of unquestionable quality and reputation. that is the Toric. UHD

Great video. Can't tell you how many times I've incorrectly adjusted my turrets, so it was cool that you could laugh at yourself shooting the tripod. Keep up the great work!

Good advice. I though you just needed to do a box test with the turrets without the need to shoot the rifle?

Can you do some reviews of Scopes made in Canada. Like Scorpion scopes. Like literally scopes from Canadian companies.

Rule of thumb: if your gun groups like buckshot turret tracking is irrelevant

Bhahahaha. I shot the shade on my chronometer and then set it back up and I shot it again 🤣. I should have bought a lottery ticket that day, afterwards. Thank you very much on the cool tracking info

What are your thought on scopes with a built-in range finder? And have you tested Burris scopes?
@EpikArms
@EpikArms Год назад
Hi Coby, in my opinion, while it's a neat skill to learn. Ultimately with the prices of electronic rangefinders it's made the reticle rangefinder obsolete for 99% of shooters. No I have not tried any Burris scopes yet.

@@EpikArms Thank you for getting back to me. I'll be doing some elk hunting next year with a 300 Win Mag and was wondering what your thoughts were about learning long-range shooting on a 6.5 Creedmoor instead of the 300. In the beginning, I think it would be easier on your shoulder. But I am concerned with the accuracy of a Gun I'm not as familiar with. What are your thoughts? Thank you for your help.
@EpikArms

well for one thing you will learn a lot more with the 6.5 because from 0-900y it is affected far more by the wind for ewxample when i was shooting my 6.5 CM at 900 i was holding 1 mill right (thats 3.5MOA) when i was shooting my 300WM i only needed to hold 6 inches the 300wm makes it much less challenging) , and yes it will be easier on your shoulder, then again if you put a quality muzzle break on a heavy target 300WM it wont be that bad at all.

Let me ask a dumb question, can you just do a mechanical test of your scope tracking instead of doing the test shooting? I mean, if your scope reticle Lines up when you adjust the turrets, why shoot at the target?
@EpikArms
@EpikArms Год назад
Good question. Now if you just point the scope at the target paper yes you will be able to see if your reticle is correct. Or at least if most of the lines are to scale. But that has nothing to do with the turrets are they work independently to the reticle. The tracking from the turrets could be way off while the reticle is sound. Hence why on some of the super cheap rifle scopes it's recommended to zero, and just use the reticle hold overs and not to dial
@Teleman01
@Teleman01 Год назад
@@EpikArms What I mean is, have a tall target at 100y with 20x1MOA blocks going down. Point your scope at the top-center. Now adjust the turrets till you hit 20 MOA. While doing that, see if the cross hair line up as you are adjusting.

You can see that after it went left it wont truly return to zero ....... this is not real tracking test sorry dude. When the human element is involved best remove it because then your never truly sure when you push long shots if its tracking perfect. A 1/16" or 1/32" at 100 yards starts to get Texas mile size when you push it out there.

Is that 100 yards to the muzzle, to the front of the scope, or to my face?
