When I throw a 2-seam, I never was really able to get any good movement on it. However until recently, when I try to make the ball " rise" by getting a good snap down, I can make the ball cut away from a righty. Its my best setup pitch for my sinking changeup
(Sorry for bad english) today, during training, I got a type of launch that was just the two seam fastball. I'm not a pitcher but my coach said that I probably will be. now I think I will try to learn it, also because I think it will be easy for me to learn it.
Thanks for the question Kevin, and the vid, Coach. This vid will help my 2 seamer as I have a high arm slot when I pitch. Thanks for fielding our questions, and helping out my game.
I throw a two-seam, and it’s all about my finger placement. I try to get my middle finger way more up on the seams then my pointer, to get that last flick on the ball coming from the middle finger and giving it more rotation on the right side
I'm over the top guy and I found if u use the wrist angle of a curve ball but fastball arm speed it still is a sinker but it's a bit slower than normal kinda like Marcus stromans sinker where it's 5-7 mph slower not 2-4 like normal sinkers but personally I can throw both 2 seam and a sinker but I find the split finger is the most effective for me right now
Hi coach! I have been looking everywhere and I could only find one video of your career. If you could, could you please upload a video of your career highlights? Thanks!
Hey coach I also play baseball I’m in middle school 13 years old I always wanted to commented this but some reason I did it but I have a pretty good arm slot on a scal it’s like _/ that it’s not straight over the top but I throw a lot of strikes and have control over my fastball all over the plate BUT when you said throwing a sinker is hard from high arm slot from my arm slot is perfect I can get over the ball and have at least 2-4 feet dip going down from the plate I throw 4 Seam Change up Sinker Slider that I’m working on 12-6 curveball By the way thank you so much the 12-6 curveball on how to throw it I noticed it’s much safer because basically my dad is friends with a man that played MLiB he also showed me to throw a 12-6 and I combined both to my knowledge and now I have 5 square tiles drop when I throw it good so thank you so much
I throw both a Sinker and a a 2 Seam but was having trouble getting consistent movement on the 2 seam. After watching guys like Syndergaard and deGrom being I’m a Mets fan an deGrom is my favorite Pitcher...I had a hard time realizing what exactly to do. I’ve been having trouble snapping a Curveball and getting it to drop off the table
I’m a rightie & been working on throwing a two seamer sometimes I get it to move but gonna focus on pronating & wrist towards the end and see if that helps thx!
When I throw a 2 seam I don’t have a whole lot of movement, thats why I watched this. The way I throw it is with the same grip as you, and I put more pressure on my index finger. Will the pressure help with the movement?
Hey Coach Madden, can you help us add deception to our delivery so we can increase visual velocity. It doesn't matter if you throw 90mph or higher if you show the ball really early in your motion
Hey John thanks for the video. I saw Masahiro Tanaka throw the 2 seam the same way but I heard it is because his elbow was above his shoulders and it is what made him injured his shoulder. Is it dangerous to thrown it that way?
Probably not best because it could tip your pitch to a trained hitter. There’s a chance that your hitter could immediately recognize the change in arm slot and know that your sinker is coming apposed to thinking maybe an up and in 4 seam. That’s why the really good pitchers can find a way to throw all their stuff from the same arm slot. If you want to commit to being a sinker baller I’d learn to locate a 4 seam at that same arm slot. Maybe trading in a 12-6 for a slider or slurve or something like that.
Brother I have a question. Does the cronation move, affects the muscles or ligaments on a kid ? How dangerous is the twist on muscles, tendons, ligaments for young pitchers ? Thank you in advance.
Hey Madden thanks foe explaining the sinker in this video I didnt quite understand how my 2 seam was more floating and cutting towards the right handed batter. I was wondering is it ok to try to switch back and forth between throwing 3/4 and over hand when throwing a 2 seam/sinker?
Hey I'm having trouble with my cutter. I keep throwing it too high and I don't know what I'm doing wrong. If you could do a video on that pitch again that would be helpful.
I'm an infielder and my shoulder is always hurting after a practice or game and needs a day of rest to get better. Then after that day, we have a game or practice again and the cycle starts all over. What should I do so that it doesn't hurt after and I can play the whole week without any pain at all. By the way love watching your videos!
Hey coach, I'm moving up to big diamond and I just got back, and I was fielding balls from short and throwing them to first. I was reaching the base fine but I wasn't throwing as hard, but when I was throwing it hard i was still reaching the bag but my throws were sometimes offline. Do you have any ideas to fix this?
Hey coach madden. I'm a 14 year old about to go into freshman high school baseball. My dream is to become an Mlb player what is the path I have to take to make my dream reality? Thank you
my son is a 12 yr old lefty pitcher who's pitches have a ton of movement, and he's a nightmare for right handed hitters. when it comes to lefty hitters he can't seem to find a pitch that works for him to hit the inside corner, he either hits the middle of the strike zone or goes too far in. is there a pitch you recommend for him to get better at working the inside corner?
what can you tell me about a 3 finger fastball? I personally have never heard of it until recently when someone was telling me about it. Is it a fastball or something else?
My son's two seam typically runs down and away from a right handed, but 1 out of 10 times it will break into a right handed batter. The odd thing is he doesn't know how he does it. Can you help me help him?
2k 17 you can go look up his bullpen on youtube and see how nasty the movement on his pitches were but he's not throwing 96 like he says only because he's getting older and naturally will lose velocity
I wish I stayed in. I was a lefty who threw submarine. The 2 seam “sinker” from submarine was brutal. I had a good era but when I broke a guys ribs showing off I quit playing
I throw a slider and everyone on my team knows about it because they can’t hit it. I only started throwing maybe a year ago and no one has jacked one off of me yet. I’m the only lefty that I’ve met that can throw a slider like I do
Coach, this is a kid you're teaching here. Not a college or minor league player. Pronating is an unnatural way to throw. This kid will have arm surgery before he's 18.
