Hope you show this fired. What a great teacher of the pottery making process. It is a joy to watch you, because you seem to really want to help we struggling potters learn. Thanks
I love watching you work. I like the silence better than the loud music. It detracts from your work and makes it harder to concentrate on what you are doing. Thank you for sharing your talent.
I watch Rachel's channel. I asked her if you have a channel. l also am a potter but haven't thrown lately. Have my own wheel so need to get it out and throw. I think someone had told me porcelain clay kaolin is like throwing cream cheese. I have thrown porcelain once about a 10 inch vase before firing, but it was heavy after firing. I had carved in it. It was pretty though. Good idea to have the torch. I have used large torches but for jewelry making. So glad to find you. Oh I have seen people join sculpture pieces by making them fit together like that after firing but forgot about people making vases taller like this. Awesome demonstration. Thank you.
You have a lovely very large studio :) It's VERY helpful that you have strong arms and wrists. Mine used to be the same but at 78 arthritis creeps in! I a potter but now too ill. I always found section pots quite difficult! but "like you" - ended up succeeding. I always had the advantage of using a blow-torch. Your video will inspire many, experienced and/or beginner potters. Thank you for sharing, I will follow you and good luck.
What’s your opinion on the nidec shimpo whisper? I just purchased one and I can stop the wheel head with my hands. That’s not the case with the original Shimpo whisper. Is this an issue? I just don’t see throwing 100lbs on a wheel I can stop with my hands
I have one in the studio. It is great for a small space, and small amounts of clay. It is our backup wheel. I don't think that you could center more than 25lbs with it, if you do it is going to shorten the life of the motor. Overall good wheel, quiet, good for mugs!
it can. I try to cover the top when coning up to keep it smooth and straight. Then when I come down, I am compressing the clay and forcing the twist down and out leaving it smooth. (Sorry for the late reply)
