Let's tie a 3-way rig for catfish! The 3-way catfish rig (aka 3-way swivel rig) is a classic rig used by countless anglers over the years. In this video, Chris breaks this rig down showing you how to build it and telling you the best places to use it. Whether you're targeting channel, flathead or blue catfish or bullheads, there will be times the 3-way catfish rig is a must know for fishermen.
The 3-way catfish rig is best used around dam, levies and spillways. These locations often have riprap and large rocks that claim countless rigs. This rig will enable you to elevate your rig in the water column so you can present the bait above structure where a fish can get to it. The sinker line (aka sacrifice sinker line) is the key. The sinker will fall into the riprap and will very likely get snagged and lost. Thus, being called "sacrifice sinker." However, losing that sinker means the rest of the rig remains in tact for future use or enables you to real in a fish on the line. The 3-way rig is one I recommend all catfishermen keep tucked away in their back pocket if they start losing their Carolina rigs.
