Donnie from El Gallo Fly Fishing Lodge shows how he ties Charlie's Pole Dancer. This is a great top-water pattern for any fish that eats other fish. Particularly great in the Baja area for roosterfish, dorado, skipjack. In freshwater applications, largemouth, and smallmouth bass, stripers, hybrid, and sand bass. This pattern is a blast for fly fishing! Warning: This video has a sick joke in it, beware!

Sorry that I missed your question, I like the size 2/0 range for roosters, dorado, and big largemouth bass. Smallmouth bass, and small sized largemouth more along size 1, and I like more of a “J” style hook in instead of the typical short shank (Gamakatsu SL12s). It helps with the keel aspect of getting that “walk the dog” type of motion that we are looking for.
