Revised Video. I made a mistake last time and said torque your mains to 45ft lbs and 55ft lbs respectively.. wrong. I didn't sit well with me. Anyways... I'm correcting myself. 55lb ft on the outer main bolts and 65 lb ft on the inners. The rods are still 50lb ft.
Start with the center bolts first.. torque them in 3 stages.. ending up with 65lbft. Then the inners... In sequence to 55lb ft
Sorry about the confusion. We're all human here.

Great info & video - thank you. I’ve been doubting ‘published’ figures …. searched & found your video ….. I completely agree and far more comfortable using these figures. You were NOT incorrect, you thought about it, researched it then shared it - this is what great mechanical forums are all about, populated by great people! Thanks again!! Steve …Downunder🇦🇺

I just did my inner's to 60 ft/lbs and outers at 55 ft/lbs per many other videos. I first checked the degree than it was consistently those numbers. I feel good about the torque and like you said used bolts can make a difference. Mine was done using a calibrated torque snap on wrench. Good info on the rod bolts. thanks for the video

I have a 2004 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD with a 6.0, I'm going to swap out the rod bearings and the main bearings and I was wondering if I could reuse the bolts. Some people said you can and some people said you can't. Thanks for clearing this up.

I prefer these torques over the values from other sources. Thanks!

Thanks for the video. I'm a rookie rebuilding my LS re-using my main and rod bolts. I've been looking at a few videos trying to get a consensus on torque specs in lieu of using the TTA. All the videos seem to be in line with each other.

22 foot pounds on all bolts. Then 80 degrees on inner main cap bolts and 53 degrees on outer main cap bolts. And don't use crappy press rods.

What are the odds that I was looking up those specs and you posted s video on it. Guess I will be testing your specs on used main bolts on a 5.3 that should be pumping out close to 480hp na and over 6 on the bottle.

Worked out perfectly fine in this situation. Now, the current 6.0 I put together the rods would not torque down they just kept stretching. Right into the trash they went
