Honestly, if you've never seen the Kung-Fu Panda movies, that's another stellar trilogy by Dreamworks. It does have the appearance of a silly cartoon led by a Jack Black comedic character, but it has a ton of heart, really inspiring themes/messages, memorable villains and a beautiful soundtrack. Highly recommend.

To be fair to Stoic, in the last movie he ignored Hiccup because he was secretly ashamed of him, now he's just very enthusiastic for Hiccup to take over so he's ignoring him because he's in fantasy land. He's no longer ashamed just overly proud. Like a father who won't let his son tell him he doesn't want to play football anymore, because he's reliving his own glory days.

My favorite moment in this film is the moment Hiccup is announced as Chief in the end. As a story beat it's the obvious way to progress the narrative but the animation and attention to detail is phenomenal. As we slowly slow push in on a CU of his face, you can tell he takes a deep breath, preparing himself for that responsibility. As a viewer you can totally feel the weight of his new title. The score during this moment perfectly mirrors it too, it all sounds and feels very heavy.

Yeah, I agree; thumbnails can really spoil things at times. The best time for movie watching and purchasing though was in the mid 80's. Movies had hand painted artwork for their promotional campaigns. They were truly works of art. For example the cover art for the movie "Big Trouble in Little China" was excellent. As the 80's were nearing their end though Live photos were starting to be copy/pasted onto VHS covers and movie posters. Then came the beginnings of photoshop and now here we are with digitally crafted collages.

My dad almost put one of our dogs down when we were kids. One of the dogs bit my brother (barely broke the skin, was fixed with 2 band-aides) and my dad came into the room because my brother was crying and the dog yelped. As son as my brother told him the dog bit him, my dad instantly thought he would have to put the dog down. Upon further inspection, he realized that the dog's ear was bleeding. See, she was a nice dark brown color. And upon further questioning, my brother admitted he bit her ear first because he thought it was chocolate. That dog never bit anyone again (because no one bit her again), and my brother also never bit a dog again. So seeing the instant reaction of pushing away the dragon after his father was hurt...even under different circumstances, always reminds me of that story and the 13 amazing years I got to spend with her. This is my favorite trilogy, and I'm glad you reacted to it.

They used Indegogo as a platform (similar to kickstarter) for fans to fund the movie. it was a huge success and the movie quality is hollywood studio quality. Netflix announced on monday they would pick up and fund the sequel. so now's the time to see what it's all about. ARQ is a standalone movie and stars Robbie Amell. super good.

"How did he get this creature to be scared of him?" Surprisingly, it's his weapon. The weapon he's holding is a real life weapon called a bullhook, and it was traditionally used in India (I think?) to "tame" elephants. Basically they'd beat it in the uncomfortable spots (knees, groin, etc.) as children if they didn't behave, and the elephant would carry the trauma into its adult life. If it heard a human yelling and swinging the bullhook, it would behave, because it remembered what happened to it as a child. It's really sad. Interestingly, if a trainer ever dropped their bullhook their elephant(s) would often attack them, feeling as if they'd just lost their power.

There's a series on Netflix (Dragons race to the edge) that takes place between the first and second movies. It's really good and the final season tells you how Drago got the bewilderbeast (the big alpha dragon). It also develops Hiccup and Astrid's relationship more and it just has a lot of cool and intricate plots. And so so so many new types of dragons that are so cool! Plus, the relationship with toothless and hiccup throughout the show is amazing and adorable! I highly recommend it!

Chobits is 1 26 episode anime made in 2002 by Madhouse studio. It is not as high quality animation as later one went too, but it is a sweet and philosophical story line.

If you haven't reacted to Coraline, I highly recommend it. It brings a good mix of emotions and it has an awesome storyline.

I heartily recommend Road to El Dorado. It’s a great Dreamworks movie, and not nearly enough people are talking about it

If this movie brought tears to your eyes, you'll need two boxes of tissues for just the first 10 minutes of "Up!"

after watching 'Riders/Defenders of berk' and 'Race to the Edge,' I 100% understand why Hiccup thought he would be able to change Drago's mind

There is an old but a really good one called "Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas". It's a 2D animated movie, also by DreamWorks Animation!

My cat, Puppet, is built just like Toothless, just without wings. She's just as terrifying when she's in attack mode as well lol
