The How To Train Your Dragon Trilogy is legitimately one of the best trilogies (not just animated) ever. And a reaction after the start of The Dark Knight Trilogy? Oh boy I can't wait for the next few videos!

There's a shot near the end of the movie where Toothless is helping Hiccup walk on his new leg, and then his tail swishes by, and that's where it clicks in your head. They're the same. For all their differences these friends ARE the same. One injury began the end of the war. The other marked the true end of it.

The absolute despair on Stoic’s face and the weakness in his legs after he says “You’re not my son” gives him so much more depth than the usual trope of the “not understanding parent”.

With all the great parts of this movie, the loss of the leg might have been my favorite because we felt little sadness. We'd seen Hiccup help Toothless adjust to the loss of his tail and now Toothless caught Hiccup when he fell after getting his new leg. We knew they'd take care of each other. Such a perfect way to end the story.

One of the most beautiful parallels in this film is how Toothless flies Astrid around wildly and terrifies her until she apologizes to Hiccup, and at the end, he doesn't reveal that Hiccup is alive until Stoic apologizes.

That look toothless has on his face is too perfect. Stoic: You brought him back alive! Toothless: You damn right I did, what, who you think you talking to maaaan you trippin, don't act all surprised 😂
@turricanedtc3764
@turricanedtc3764 3 года назад
I love how that works on multiple levels, though I kind-of see it as both Astrid and (especially) Stoick apologising to both Hiccup *and* Toothless. When Toothless is performing the crazy aggressive aerobatics with Astrid he's essentially responding to her own aggression and showing her what he *could* do if he didn't trust Hiccup; the fact that Hiccup is strongly protesting this approach when Toothless's instincts have actually found the most direct way to get through to the axe-wielding warrior maiden he's just met just makes it funnier. Obviously the scene with Stoick is much heavier emotionally; Toothless's experiences with Stoick have only involved witnessing hurt towards Hiccup and himself - having protected his best friend from the explosion and fire, Toothless is fully prepared to protect Hiccup from his own father until given a reason to believe it's unnecessary. Another aspect to add to the (already humungous) pile of "beautiful" in this movie is the way that Toothless - a non-human character initially portrayed as a threat - is the first to realise just how special a human being Hiccup is. On the basis of a sort-of wary initial trust, Hiccup gave Toothless back his ability to fly. In the subsequent scenes with Astrid and Stoick, Toothless is essentially demanding that both of them acknowledge just how much they have in his friend... And he does it without saying a single word.

Personally I'd love to see a bunch of different cartoons or animes reviewed episode by episode, like Dragon ball, or Bleach for ones that got big in the States, or old school cartoons like G I Joe or Transformers. Heck even one like Thunder cats or for a laugh even the episodes of Super Mario's super show. There are so many but you see same ones all the time, that's my only complaint against the idea. Designing Toothless has been long and hard ( for what I remember ), but the team working on it made an incredible job, taking inspiration on few animals ( cat stays the most recognizable ) and succeeding on making him look incredibly cute while sometimes scary/badass. His movements and expressions are pure gold

Something very important that she skipped past:: when Stoic tells Hickup "You're not my son", he walks out of the door, and we actually see him outside, instantly regretting what he just said. It's a moment that shows that Stoic isn't just a loudmouth, but a father. He feels like he shouldn't have said that, but his pride won't let him take it back. It humanizes him in a way that makes his later turnaround more believable.

One of my all time favorite animated movie series. Loved every single movie. Btw, Hiccup lost his foot because when Toothless tried to save him from the fall, he bit Hiccups foot because it was the closest thing he could reach. Kinda funny cuz when Hiccup captured Toothless, Toothless lost his tail wing so now they're kinda equal.

25:53 "I'm sorry for the screaming and awwwww-ing constantly." It's why I subscribed. It's fun. Edit: I wanted to add that I only watch your videos for movies I've seen, because spoilers. But, of the ones I have seen, I know with a high degree of precision what parts you'll scream and awww. That's the fun of it for me. I will admit to being a bit disappointed that you don't react to (or you edit out) specific parts that I think you'll really like. For example, the 'women's gathering' in Endgame. I was sure after the Return of the King video that it would warrant a nice reaction. You said a few seconds after it, "Wow. There's a lot of women helping women here." Didn't exactly match my expectation. All in all, you provide very entertaining content. Thank you.

Hiccup and Toothless' first flight is legitimately one of the best animated scenes ever. The only thing that matches it for me is Hiro and Baymax flying for the first time. It's this perfect marriage of pure terror and pure joy. And the music for both is just incredible. This film and the next 2 are truly some of the best. Toothless isn't an emotional support or service dragon... Toothless is his friend. Even better.
