This guide shows you how to backup and restore your Firefox Bookmarks and Passwords it also shows you a work around if you are having trouble importing your passwords.
The commands I refer to in the video are:
about:config
signon.management.page.fileImport.enabled
security.allow_eval_in_parent_process

Nice video But to delete a file or folder with out it going to the bin - Hold down Shift - Right click the file or folder you want to delete permanently. In the popup menu click delete - the prompt will say - this will permanently delete the file or folder - click OK to delete or NO to stop from deleting the file or folder permanently.

Great video. Very helpful. I think creating an account and syncing is much easier. Can you please create a video about how to import bookmarks/passwords from a dead Dell PC that has a working hard drive? I have been able to connect the HD via a powered SATA connector to my new PC via USB. THANK YOU.

This doesn't import your bookmark toolbar ones... This sucks I can't figure out how.

If you can try using Sync on Firefox its the best way to backup everything. Or you can always backup C:\Users\[your username]\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\xxxxx.default then copy the contents of the folder that ends .default into the folder that ends .default on your new machine.

My pc crashed. I believe I can locate the bookmarks once I mount that drive as an external drive to the new computer, but I’m hoping the passwords are also saved on that drive rather than in the actual program (which I obviously have no access to).

I think your best bet is to backup the whole profile folder and then overwrite the new one that is created when you reinstall Firefox, if you sign in with a Firefox account this backs up your bookmarks and passwords to the cloud and should restore them when you sign in again.

Please try backing up to a different hard drive or memory stick.
