How to treat BROWN PATCH FUNGUS is a question that everyone ask. Alot of people have the slightest idea what BROWN PATCH FUNGUS is. In this video I will go over what BROWN PATCH FUNGUS is and how you can be able to identify it. In the Summertime alot of people get BROWN PATCH confused with heat stress. From a distance, they look the same but if you look closer you can tell the difference between the two. I will also go over how you need to deal with the fungus and what products that you'll need to use. This video will give you ALL the information that you will need for this fungus. I hope that you enjoy this video and I hope that it helps you in your lawn journey.
Thank you for your support,

Probably the most helpful, educational info on lawn care out there right now thats helpful for homeowners. Just bought a home and want to restore the lawn. Theres multiple grasses in the lawn, dark black clay soil because I'm in texas and multiple brown areas. I'm taking it step by step but can feel overwhelmed with what needs to be done. Ideally I'd like to have one grass if possible in my lawn. Thanks again for the education!!

Here in Ct lawn fungus season hits around mid May when night time temps are staying above 60. I find it's best to lay down Disease X before that point in early May as a preventative then nail any fungus that occurs with both products and remember they only work for about 4 weeks then need to be reapplied... It gets expensive but it's that or let all your work go to shit. Also, you haven't lived until " melt out" infects your lawn, had that 2 years ago and no stopping it with store bought products which are ok but are lower concentration than commercial grade products, the up front cost is more but they are more effective and I'm now applying less often. -Go easy on the big name high nitrogen fertilizers like Scotts as fungus loves it. -Scarify / de thatch in the fall or early spring to build a strong root system and your grass will be able to stand up much against fungus and heat stress.

Great job explaining the fungus and what to look for. Would you be able to advise on how much of the Azprop to mix into one of those garden hose spray bottles? I have a couple bottles that I kept of the Bioadvance Propiconizole 14.3 Fungicide bought from home depot and the bottle says for up to 5000 sq feet, but they are so expensive. This year i bought a 2 gallon jug of Propiconizole 14.3 Fungicide online and I stick about 10 ounces of the fungicide in the bottle, fill it with water and spray about 3000 square feet per bottle. Did it a few times this year, but it just didn't work. I read the directions on the bottle and estimated about 2 ounces per 1000 square fee ( so 10 ounces in the hose spray bottle )t, but it just didn't keep the brown patch from happening. I started in mid june and have applied a few times a few weeks apart. I'd like to try the azprop, but I have no idea how many ounces to put into the hose connected spray bottle. Any idea??

@evangoshert5817

On the contrary, i mow professionally but dont spray. I always tell my customers at the firdt sight of heat stress to water longer. At first sign of any disease i also advise and give them links for products they can apply or have a licensed professional sprsy it for them. I am too busy with mowing to also be spraying everybodys yard. I did get my license to spray herbicides at the dept of ag on turf grass, but i choose not to because i dont have time first off and second i do not want to have to put a whole new trailer together for spraying along with always being around those chemicals. It would cost them double or tripple the price of a mowing only service.
@PoloFieldsLawnService
@PoloFieldsLawnService 2 месяца назад
@evangoshert5817 I totally understand. Spraying is a beast of its own and when you have a lot of lawns, it can make you extremely busy. It's best to just go with one or the other. The dollar spot will be small brown spots. Now those small spots can be very close to each other where it looks like brown patch, but it isn't. Up until one of my neighbors whos father is was a Greenskeeper for a Golf Course I thought I had a lot of thatch until the neighbors father happened by my house and was almost in tears as he looked at my lawn. he knocked on my door and explained to me what the issue was with my lawn. besides low spots grubs and moss I also have fungus and as you said, STRESS. so he recommend I tackle one thing at a time and then in the fall do my overseeding. but one of the solutions he mentioned was the Azprop Select or Propiconazole 14.3 Select. I hope this works out for me.

Hello Kevin, quick question. I'm assuming you have a cool season lawn? Do you have brown patch fungus and heat stress? If so, Azprop would be one of your best fungicides to go down with now because of it having 2 modes of action. Your stressed-out areas just need water. I would only overseed your lawn if you have some areas that are thin or have been severely damaged by heat stress or fungus.

Hello Christian, Im assuming that you have St Augustine grass. Thiophanate-methyl will start working as soon as you put it down. You'll have to have it on 14-day intervals, though. I would use 2 active ingredients though so something like a Thiophanate-methyl and Propiconizole or Thiophanate-methyl and Azoxystrobin. At this time of the year, it's always good to go down with 2 active ingredients. Give it a couple of weeks to clear up

@christianherrera5248 That sounds like brown patch. There is no need to rake. On your next application, apply 2 active ingredients in the same tank mix and let it do its thing. @PoloFieldsLawnService Год назад
If you get the 32oz bottle, going out at the low rate (preventative rate), you would get 3 applications for 7000 sqft. A gallon would get you 12 applications at a low rate. Now, if you go down with the high rate, you won't get that many applications, but if you're being proactive, you shouldn't need to since it's a combo product. Now it's all gonna depend on what fungus you're going after. This fungicide will get you 28 days coverage, but keep in mind that if the disease pressure is high, i would back that down a few days. Does it typically look worse in a couple days after spraying and then start to look better in a couple weeks? Do you typically spray again in 2 weeks?
@PoloFieldsLawnService
@PoloFieldsLawnService Год назад
Hello Rick, once you spray it, it should stop spreading. Typically, you will see some visual change in a couple of weeks. The main thing is to spray the right fungicide that will attack the fungus that you have in your lawn.

@@PoloFieldsLawnServicedoes brown patch kill the grass, or just effect the grass blade?
@PoloFieldsLawnService
@PoloFieldsLawnService Год назад
@rickjames1246 In most cases, mature grass will grow back, but if newly seeded grass gets damaged, it might not grow back. Cool season grass grows slow in the summer, so it might take a couple of weeks for it to go away. No worries though, because we don't have that long before we start to cool back down again

Great video I’m dealing with disease in my lawn this summer. I’m debating on either getting the stuff u mix in the backpack sprayer or the granular disease control they sell at the big box store. Which one you think is best for the long haul?

Thanks for this video! New to DIY lawn care. Did my first overseed last fall. Yard was looking amazing until 3 days ago. We have had rain in MO for basically 2 weeks. Almost every day. Notice a few small brown patches today. Mainly in the areas i seeded bare last fall. I hit it with the disease EX at 4lbs per 1000. Then followed up with fertilome fungicide luquid spray. At 3oz per 250. Hopefully it will prevent any further damage. And those patches will green up over time.

That disease x should help. If you're using store bought products, make sure that you put the bioadvanced spray on your list. It has Propiconizole in it
@nickrupp4394
@nickrupp4394 4 месяца назад
@@PoloFieldsLawnService the ferilome fungicide also contains Propiconizole. I went that the option as it hooks up to my hose. I do not have a sprayer at the moment. I think I hit the brown patch with a good 1 2 punch today. Going to water in the disease X better tomorrow morning.
@PoloFieldsLawnService
@PoloFieldsLawnService 4 месяца назад
@nickrupp4394 OK, that should do the job then. I didn't know right off the bat what was in that fertilome. You can hook the bioadvanced up to your hose, too, plus the Propiconizole in the bioadvanced has a little more active ingredient in it than the fertilome. Fertilome has 1.55%, and bioadvanced has 2.42%, but what you did should work as you're adding 2 active ingredients to your lawn

I got this fungus. I treated it with both the liquid and granular fungicides. My grass was tall when I applied. 2 weeks later it was worse. The fungus spread beneath the canopy of the tall grass. I just cut it really short and applied another treatment. About 70% of my lawn was infected. I am hoping my lawn will recover.
@PoloFieldsLawnService
@PoloFieldsLawnService Год назад
Hello, what are you treating it with? When you cut it, are you bagging your clippings? If it's a brown patch, your lawn should recover, but I need to know what you're using? Please let me know when you can

@@PoloFieldsLawnService I put down Scott’s Disease Ex Granular at the curative rate and sprayed it with Bio Advanced Fungus Control Liquid. Normally this time of year I mulch my grass clippings but when I just cut it short I bagged the diseased clippings.

My lawn is cool season grass type. Specifically, it is Scott’s Sun And Shade Blend. I figured you might need this information too.
@PoloFieldsLawnService
@PoloFieldsLawnService Год назад
@unpavedexplorer338 OK, so let's talk this thing out. Cool Season Lawn, Tall Fescue, Fine Fescue. You said that it got worse and affected 70% of your lawn. Do you know what fungus it is? Are there any lesions on the grass blades, or is the grass just straw brown? Is there any life in the crown of the plant, meaning is the bottom of the grass blade green (the part that comes out of the ground), and how quick did it turn brown on you? I'm trying to figure out what disease you may have. If you have brown patch and you're sure of it, it can bounce back. Just put it on 14-day intervals, meaning apply both of them every 14 days at the curative rate. Otherwise, if it's a fungus like pythium. Stop applying those items because they're not going to do anything for them. You're gonna need another fungicide for that called mefenoxam.
@unpavedexplorer338
@unpavedexplorer338 Год назад
@@PoloFieldsLawnService I believe it is brown patch. The grass blade is green on the bottom and top with brown/red in the middle. I overseeded early spring (beginning of April). It grew in nice. Then we had a 22 day drought. I watered several times a day to keep the new grass from dying. Mowed at the tallest setting on my mower. The lawn looked beautiful. Then after the drought we had 8 days of on/off showers. I noticed a lot of large patches of yellowing developing. I used both granular and liquid fungicide. I then threw down Scott’s Step 3 to push growth to grow out the fungus. I kept the grass cut night. The infected areas got worse. I then decided to cut it really short to cut out the infected blades of grass. This revealed that the fungus was spreading under the canopy and covered about 70% of my lawn. I then applied a 2nd treat of both the granular and liquid fungicides. I have 3 shorts videos of my lawn in the shorts library of my channel. I can put a short video of the current status of my lawn for you to see.
