How to trick bees into building Drawing Honey supers Beekeeping UK 2024

Adding your first undrawn super to a hive is exciting, but if the bees don’t draw or work the frames, you have yourself a problem. This is a method that works for us with both wax and plastic coated frames. If you have spare already drawn frames, that can also bring the bees up to work them in most cases. Sorry about the shadow of the camera it was so sunny I couldn't see the screen on my camera so I didn't realise till it came to editing 😅

Good technique to brush the undrawm frames with honey, ill have to try that. Feeding with super? Wont you get sugar syrup in your honey if your feeding with supers on?

No I'm only going to keep the feed on until they start to draw those frames, they have stopped taking the syrup anyway next inspection I will take it away, the gorse is just coming out of flower and the blackberries are just coming in to flower so there is plenty of forage about for them.
