How to trigger the MS-101 / MS-1 sequencer from the RD-8 trigger output

Found this video while trying to understand why my Bro-800 wouldn't take trigger from my RD-8 MK2. I noticed that my NTS-1 and KeyStep got triggered by the RD-8's signal, then I realized that I could forward the signal via the synk out from the receiving device and send that to my Bro-800 - works like a charm 🖖🏼😎

It Works like a charm on my MiniBrute 2s, both sync and trigger. I trigger the AD envelope on the MB and give it a little decay. But thanks to your video I figured out what channels were generating the triggers in the first place

Thank you for your hard work. Behringer should give you a thank you check. I assumed that the update didn't fix this as I still had the problem. It was only on Trigger 1. Triggers 2 and 3 now work.

This technique is also used by Drexciya a fair bit, and Ed DMX.

Not sure if this is new or old but the triggers work properly now without adjustments! I did the latest Firmware Update (Version 1.1.6) of the MS-1 with Behringer's Synthtool. In there, I adjusted Clock Source (not sure if that was available in an earlier version) from 'Internal' to 'Trigger', patched the RD-8 via trigger 3 (Accent) towards the MS-1's EXT CLK In and... it is working and indeed truly amazing!! Hope this can be confirmed by others!

This interesting, another thing that works aswell on the old sh101 is that if you sample the square wave from the machine into a sampler then send this out and into the trigger in it will clock off it. You need to recording the sample quite loud for it to work but it's cool way of getting some old gear synced up.

Hi Robin! Merry Christmas and happy New Year! I have a philosophy that extends far beyond synths! I’ll try anything once, twice if it didn’t work the first time! I once wanted to get a certain oscillator sound on my Deepmind 12. I won’t bore you with the details but plugged everything where it was supposed to be, and nothing! I had the deepmind sitting on a board on a keyboard 2 tier rack thingy, and I had a Bluetooth Widi, just sitting there from something I tried the day before. So I Just plugged it in, and did the same with the oscillator (I should say I have almost everything Bluetoothed in my studio room), and it worked perfectly! I to this day zero idea why. All I can think of is the Bluetooth connection is 16 channel and one of those does it? Don’t know, but from then on, I always try that if the traditional way didn’t work! More than once it solved the issue. lol! Love your channel! Thanks for the video!

A complementary experience based on trying to trigger a real SH-101 with thr Behringer RD-8 : i have connected a rd-8 connected to a (real)sh-101 thru trigger 1 and 3 : Failed! the SH is not beeing triggered; Semi success: from trigger 2 it is triggered not perfectly and about 4 times slower than the defined tempo.

Super work, it would be very useful to see if the envelope patching on the Neutron would do the job. I suspect it would but would be great if you could investigate as you've re-ignited my interest in the RD-8 you crafty devil!! :)
