Great video and very good advices! Very impressed that you mention troubleshooting in other systems, not only ICT. And you are definitely right, most access control systems are similar in troubleshooting. Thank you for your time. Alex

I have a customer that has a Keri access system with three doors on it. When a credential is presented the reader has a delay before it unlocks the door. The other readers on the system work quickly. Any thoughts? I haven’t been able to figure this one out.

This can come from multiple factors. If the reader is wired in Wiegand mode, then I am suspecting that there may be some latency between the reader module and the main controller of this system. (Assuming the 3 readers are not on the same access control module.) If by delay before unlocking the door you mean having to badge a card multiple times, then there most probably interference preventing the Wiegand data to get to the reader port without being corrupted. In this case I am suspecting either a power drop on that reader or a cabling issue. Wiegand works best with non-twisted shielded cables. Now if the reader is wired in OSDP (RS485) then it is suggested to use a twisted pair for the data wires and sometimes the manufacturer will require end of line resistors to be installed at both ends of the reader cable. Please let us know if this helps.

@@inaxsys Yea it was low voltage due to a faulty transformer. I just replaced the transformer and it works again with fast response time. Funny because Keri tech support said that 11vdc was ok, but quickly found out it wasn’t. Hey thank you for your reply buddy. I appreciate the help.

how do you get the buzzer noise reduced?

Unfortunately, we can’t change the volume of the piezo on the TSEC readers. The first beep is the card present and can’t be disabled but if wired to an ICT reader expander or controller, you can disable the beeper processing so the reader will only beep on a card but no more beeping on access granted or denied.

I have an older Identicard system running Centurion 3.4. I am able to read the cards but they will not activate the locks.

Hi! If your system reads the cards but does not unlock the doors, that would typically be because the card user does not have the rights to unlock the door (typically managed by a User access level). You definitely should contact your integrator and have them show you how to program the system

@@AreYouReadySuperStar, thank you for the reply! These panels are all about 20 years old. They are standalone panels and very basic. There is not much to program as far as card access, they either have it or they don't. I'm using HID Proximity readers and as I said I can see the cards in the history, they just will not activate the locks. The error is failed at preactivation. I think it may just be time for a new system.
