I am running the JB4 on a 2.3l EB Ranger Tremor stacked with the Ford Performance tune. I wanted to see what it would do. Kinda as a warranty option. what can I make it do home brew style You get the transmission and more boost without warranty voiding theoretically. Well, it is a little insane for the money but so much fun working on the performance. There is so much to due. I ended up building my own map after learning how it all works. The truck is lights out till about 85-90MPH. I have pull Chargers, coyote f-150's, Brimmers. I was able power out a 14.32 quart and 11.99 at 1000 feet. That was my first time ever going to drag race (ever). It gets passed late do to the tune. It smashes around town no doubt!!. JB4's work. They take tune a transmission though or remove factory safety, But that will get you boost and more. My model has a throttle boost setting to take up the pedal delay. Maps for different drive modes. Valet, Water/Method Controls, Ethanol Mixes option. The data logging and gauges is the best feature. Switching maps on the fly is amazing. It is great way to learn how engines performance under boost conditions. There is bunch of manual setting you can try and play with but at your own risk. 2.3l Ranger EB E30 mix Ford Procal 4 Powepack Tune Custom Map 6 JB4 or Map 2. My map 6 is partially a modified Map 2 clone. Mbrp 3" exhaust. afe intake cvf hotside charge pipe Go-fast recurring value. Fuel-it e30 sensor monitor. (not required) Dyno. 323WHP - 384TQ. (5th gear 2wd) Note that both torque and HP peak before or around 4500 RPM. With a sustained Torque curve between 350-384 from 3200rpm out to 4400. HP peaks at 4400RM. It so strange in that way. The power just drops off at 4500rpm. But it is a whole ton of fun getting there. Still has all the Ford safety protocols. 1 can pull the Jb4 tomorrow and cheap my warranty if done right. Base Ford Performance Tune on E30 was 297HP and 348 TQ. I am maxed at 24-25Lbs of boost with this. So no more to do on that end outside a custom tune.
@337 SPEED hello fellow oxford white 2dr base bronco owner. I'm manual transmission though. Been wanting to upgrade the bronco for a while but i was think of mayybe going with what panda works has as far as tuning. Stuff I've added so far: Husky front and back floor mats, front grille lettering sticker (white), Multicolor LED floor lights, Boomba Blowoff value adapter, K&N air filter.
Interesting...just test drove a 2022 base Bronco. I mean it had no options at all. Had 169 miles on it. Sitting at Greg Hubler Ford in Muncie, IN. It had the 2.3/7-speed manual. Came from Riverside, CA Ford. Listed as used?? Fun little Bronco. 7-speed was decent shifting manual. But have been thinking about this base Bronco and then found your RU-vid by accident. Going to follow this site to see how it goes with this base Bronco.
Why not just get the BaseSquatch with 2.7L, I don’t understand all you people. beast of a bronco with factory warranty. You spent 4000 on the wheels and tires, and 500 for a tuner, for 2500 more you get the locking diffs and taller gears.
I'll pick up a 2.7 when it gets a GOOD manual trans. Till then I'm not even looking at a bronco. I HATE 4 CYLINDER engines. I don't want to drive a lifeless automatic.
@@osu3221 Oh, the little boys that need a V8 and manual transmission, before you hate, drive it, I will never have a manual again, never enjoyed sitting on the steering wheel, when your short, manuals are a pain in the ass. We have a 2.7L Big Bend, 4dr, soft top with mid pkg. more than fast enough, sport mode keeps the rpm’s up when u need it.
Ok, a few comments. First, it's clear that you do not understand a few things. One, larger tires will not affect engine horsepower. True, it does take additional horsepower to turn them, but they will not change engine power. Ever. A smaller tire will NEVER increase engine power. You can multiply torque by using gears or changing tire sizes, you can decrease friction loses by changing tires, you can even decrease/increase acceleration by increasing/decreasing rotational mass. However, none of the above will change the amount of horsepower that the engine is making. If you are doing your dyno testing correctly, you will have already determined your frictional drive train losses so that you can include them in your dyno testing. Two, additional boost does not equal power. Boost can be an indicator of additional airflow, BUT in reality boost only measures the restriction against the flow of air. If I have 2 turbocharged 1.8 liter motors running 10 PSI of boost, and one is running a GT25 turbo and the other is running a T3/T4 hybrid turbo, identical other than the turbos and engine mapping, which is making more HP? or do you think that they will both make the same HP at 10 PSI of boost? Third, sustained boost does not harm the engine, whether it's 5 psi, 15 psi, or 25 psi. Boost falls off because the turbo cannot provide sufficient airflow to sustain the boost level. In short, it's outside what the compressor (as detailed in the compressor map) can supply. Fourth, boost does not destroy turbos, excessive turbo RPM can destroy your turbo, but boost doesn't destroy a turbo. You can run full boost all day long as long as you keep EGT's in check and don't exceed the RPM limits of the turbo center section. None of the above criticism is meant to be pejorative, but rather encouragement to learn more about what you are doing. I think that you have a cool project here and I wish you great success with it.
So far I dig it, but for me I do actually see dirt/rocks so at the very minimum I need a limited slip or locked rear axle. Figure that out and you've got a good low budget solution.
Awesome to see someone doing this near the Lake Charles/Lafayette area!! Did you alter the blow off valve at all to get that boost noise?? There’s also a way for the 2.3 to get even more bov noise! Simple $5 hose removal mod I want to get this for my 2.7l. I got a 22 black diamond. Freakin love it. Just wish it was faster
Subbed and started watching yhis series. Question kind sir. I dont have the skills to do any of this. If you were me, how would you go about finding a mrchanic willing to do it? Thanks!
Can you do a video with the JB4 in the same goat mode to see the actual difference between the settings. You had it in regular mode then sport mode in the second part. This is not a true comparison for me to spend the 550.00.
I know this is a "cheap build" but can we get a 37 inch (5th wheel)? I just looks odd with that tiny tire on the rear. You got me thinking about 37s on my Bronco.
Odd, usually if you want an engine saving tune (have engine last longer) you have boost ramp. It is lower torque on lower RPM and increase as the RPM goes up. That way to have consistent torque. My other car starts at 8psi@3000rpm and ramps to 10psi@7200rpm to maintain 360-370trq.
