This is a video on how to turn daytime running lights (DRL) on or off on a Volkswagen vehicle. The vehicle in the video is a 2012 Jetta GLI but the process should be similar for most newer Volkswagen models.
Holy cow I feel like an idiot. I got some top of the line gen 3 night vision that I want to go driving in the dark with ( obviously on a private road ) and I could not get those lights to turn off. Today I’ve been pulling fuses on my CC and such to try to get them to shut off when all I needed to do was go into the menu. Thanks for the help and for making me feel like an idiot
This won’t work on 2013 VW Tiguan. I just checked, there’s only option to turn on/off convenience turn signal (the 3 blink quick lane change option). No DRL option. On my 02 GTI I bought a Euro switch and just electrical-taped one of the “prongs” to disable.
Dayum of course mine couldn't be this simple, I have 2010 GTI and the only option I have under Lights/Vision is "Corner Lights", "Factory Settings", and "Back".
@@austinny8879 there is one video out there that says turn the car off hold the blinker lever downward and turn your brights on hold it for a minute and then turn on the car but not the motor I tried that it did not work which fuse would I pull to get these son of a bitches to go off I work security and those lights are a dead giveaway let somebody maybe in that car I'm trying to catch somebody stealing some shit so I have some action as a security guard🤣🤣🤣
I am not too sure if there would be a different menu that is hidden, but another thing you could do is search the fuse location for the DRLs and just remove the fuse for the lights. However, before you do that, do check to make sure it is not illegal in your area to drive with them off!
In the EU, all new cars from February 2011 must be equipped with daytime running lights which can't be turned off. You also likely wouldn't pass your MOT inspection if you remove the fuses, not to mention driving without DRL or headlights is illegal in many European countries.
I wonder why this option is not in my 2012 passat se when this is a 2012 jetta gli? Once you get to lights and vision the DRL option is not in there....
As far as I know, as long as you don't turn on your headlights, only the needles illuminate. This is a safety feature as it makes you turn on your headlights when you can't see the gauges which prevents you forgetting to turn on your headlights when it's dark.
On the S/SE/SEL/TDI you can’t turn them off, they work separately from your CECM. The GLI has different CECM, they’re controlled by the module, on the Jettas they’re not controlled by the module.
@@greaser3069 when in gear yes. When parked and lights are still on (even if dim) that is a no no at drive ins. They now state you have to have them off or park in the last row or leave.
