How to Unbrick the Tanix TX3 Mini (S905W) Ultimate Guide

Hello guys, today I will be showing you how to unbrick any TX3 Mini model out there, and also how to get it out of a boot-loop. The video will be divided up into a couple parts, starting off with how to disassemble the unit, then to determine which revision of board you have, what you need to do to unbrick each version, and finally how to fix a boot-loop. I will also link some of my favorite ROMs for the TX3 mini, although not all ROMs work on each revision. Make sure to subscribe and hit that notification bell for any videos I make. mine shows CS_906W_TX_3D_V1.3, I tried upgrading using your video link with SD CARD but unfortunately it doesn't boot up anymore, because when i was pressing reset with a pin, i flipped and i wanted to repeat the process from a fresh. but now i messed up kindly assist

For V1.6 board i am not clear about shorting points , as you show in figure there are 4 points included two resistors. So i am confused and not sure to shorting resistors.Please help .

You should try each set, individually, of metal contact points in the red circle, except for the transistors.

Hi : I did download by mastic a wrong software in my ( TX3 mini -A ) after that the device died. Nothing work even there is no screen light and not work anymore.i trying to downloading the real topicals software throw the computer using the( USB burning tool ) not connect and nothing change . Only red light in the back . Now what can I do with it . Can you help me for this problem . Thank you so much.

To get this straight, you installed the wrong ROM on it and it bricked out on you. Lets try this out. Watch through 0:43 to disassemble the box. After you do that, determine your revision 1:57 (if its 1.0 to 1.2 then 3:41 for short pins) (if its 1.3 then its 3:35 for short pins).So take your USB A to A cable, the power supply of the unit, a screwdriver or tweezers, and the proper version of USB Burning Tool (look at this: forum.atvxperience.com/viewtopic.php?p=9944#p9944). Once you have that sorted, get the rom (ATVX or the OG) downloaded and loaded onto the UBT( 3:14 ). Go ahead and follow from 3:53. Thanks for commenting!

Depends, but usually it means that you are trying to install incompatible software to the target device.

Since it is a red board and ROM compatibility is very hit or miss, I would say looking on the manufacturer's website for the original ROM or atvX, but since it's nowhere to your knowledge, and I don't have enough knowledge in this field, I could direct you to the atvXperience forums (www.forum.atvxperience.com)who might be able to help. If you could link some high res images of both sides of the board here, then it would help (like imgbb.com/). I hope I helped!

@@cavernoodle No, I did nothing. After purchasing the TX3 mini, I just plugged it and stated to play. I don't know how to actually get started with the android box perfectly. So if you give me some directions how to get started after buying this product, it'll be so great full :)

@@musflix If you have a compatible TX3 Mini, a usb male to male cable, and some time, then you could install atvX v4, which might solve your problems. Watch the video to see if you have a 1.2 or older board, as those 1.3 ones don't work with v4 (atvX has an older version though for that). Thanks for asking!

Hi. I was following your tutorial but only when i disassembled the box and check the board (blue), i realised that i've got a diferent box. My is a tx3 mini-L... My version is a ""CS_905W_MiniWQ_2C_V1.2". Do you know what are the pins that i need to short?

@@OruamAF From what you are saying, it seems as though you need to short pins at 3:35. (You likely have a 1.3 since the NAND chip is not next to the model info, 2:23). If you have any more questions, I'm happy to help!

What ROM are you looking for, like atvX(www.forum.atvxperience.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2451) or the stock ROM (mega.nz/file/LQVy3LpR#g0WHrl4SRbMbTC2jpOKtF0PGRBTxreeOg64vtQubhuU)? Because it is v1.1 you have a wide range of options to choose from.

The box might have been bricked and not flashed correctly, or one of the pins may have broken, or possibly, it just became defective. You should try the composite video out with a capable TV and one of these: www.amazon.com/HDE-Triple-Composite-Splitter-Adapter/dp/B00CIC9KW2

You could have installed an incompatible rom, or messed up on some step that resulted in this. It might be bricked to no return, although if you want you can message the people at forumXperience.

i have a tx6 and it boots into recovery mode by default, doing factory reset/cache reset does nothing. It goes back to recovery mode.

It may be because of different firmwares/models all under the same name. Have you tried using a toothpick from the A/V port on the back? Is there a small nondescript hole on the bottom of the box as shown in 5:46?

If you are trying to get a zip file or trying to get into TWRP, then yes. Sadly Amlogic only makes ROM recovery through SD card and UBT. Thanks for asking!

From talking with members on the forum, getting any android version higher than 7 is impossible for the 1.3 edition due to the use of nand chips that can't get newer versions of android on them.

@@eduardoacevedo9993 I think it really depends on the hardware, as the later revisions support bt 5. You cannot enable something in software unless the hardware exists for it (Bluetooth emulation isn't a thing).

@@moregame2467 Oh yeah, that light doesn't mean much except that it has power. Even if it doesnt show the boot text at front, you should be able to reset it either way given you follow the instructions VERY carefully. If it doesn't work via micro SD card, then try it with the USB Burning tool.

When no showing boot on display (nothing on display) , that means its completely knackered. Board is red color, ver CS_905W_TX_V1.2 20170925 Only red light of some kind comes from the back of the device. Thanx

For those, only the original ROM works. I think you still are able to unbrick it via UBT. Watch through 2:46, and end at 4:22. You will need to get a USB a to a cable off of Amazon for like 4 dollars, but you will have a good rate of success. If you need any more help, reply back. Thanks for commenting!

Can you describe to me what you did (like how to installed the rom to the card, what rom you used, etc.)? Also describe what you mean when you say "totaly DEAD" (like does it show a black screen on power-up, any lights that turn on). Because if you put the right ROM on a functioning SD card, and properly followed the steps to initiating recovery, then it should've worked. I had a similar experience myself trying to install with an SD card, as they can be hit or miss. If you can, try using a USB a to a cable (here's one I used: www.amazon.com/UGREEN-Transfer-Enclosures-Printers-Cameras/dp/B00P0E3954/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=usb+a+to+a&qid=1602958564&sr=8-3), as they have a higher success rate.

my solution. 1. hold the RESET button 2. plus the USB cable to the port on TX3mini near TF slot ( DON'T NEED PLUG 5V ADAPTOR) 3. You will see " connected" in the buring tools

This only works if your box isn't bricked, but I couldn't unbrick my box without the power source. TV boxes have their own minds sometimes...

@@abdulhadifaris8624 The board says that its a 1.0, but the layout is nothing like 2:13, a real 1.0 board. This might be a fake, but since I don't know anything about this board, you will have to talk to the people over at forum.atvxperience.com , they have ALOT of experience in TV boxes, so they are your best bet.

hola tengo la tx3 mini cs_905w_tx_v1.2 20170925 placa azul , cual rom recomiendan ya que he probado varias pero todas arrojan algun problema de uso y ya no puedo volver a la rom oficial ya que no esta en ningun lado .... Ayuda por favor

The only good custom rom I can recommend to you is atvXperience: www.forum.atvxperience.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2451.
