To anyone watching this video - do yourself a favor and return your new Delta faucet and pick a different brand. While most normal faucet companies use these standard mounting nuts, the geniuses at Delta came up with a smooth metal mounting nut. That way, when your Delta faucet inevitably fails (because let's face it, Delta made it), the nut's smooth round shape makes it impossible to get any sort of tool around it for leverage.
@@ldlink3935it is ABSOLUTELY worth the cost of paying a plumber. And I'm a DIYer. The space under a sink is just not designed for a replacement. It should be a couple simple nuts to unscrew... It's NOT!!
HAHAHA - Now do it on one with a brass nut that's been corroding up there for a couple decades. No disposal in the way, no plumbing or drain for a dishwasher in the way. Jeeeze you guys, it's SO EASY!
This was great! Quick and to the point. 57 year old women did this all by myself. Mine was in a house built in 1963 so had rust, corrosion ect. I guess it finally paid off being a small person as I was able to crawl in and out upside down no problem. Best tip out thee is Penetration spray on the old parts.
Hello Tania Allee! Thank you for the review and praise! We are glad that this video was of help. With any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out directly. -Carrie
Wow, I wish I had a huge spot under my sink like that completely bare. Mine is tiny, way up in, and full of pipes. Also my plumbers never look this lol.
Kind of glosses over the really hard part - like what do you use to grip that unwieldy locknut? Edit - by writing it out, it made me wonder if there was a specialized tool - there is, and Home Depot carries it. It worked quickly, and solved my problem. And it made me remember, Moen includes a simple one with their faucets.
I just installed a Moen, tearing out the Delta was a nightmare, I even had a basin wrench but the brass nut was corroded and stuck. I had to clamp a vice grips on the threaded part to keep it from spinning and use the basin wrench to crank on the nut, when she came loose I banged my knuckles and said some curse words, but it was easy after that. The tool from Moen is super simple, hope it comes out someday as easy as it went in.
Yes, the tool needed is a basin wrench! It's impossible without, and still virtually impossible with 😭 who is responsible for this infuriatingly sh***y design?!?
Theres a lot more room in her lower cabinet and one drain pipe..mine is 10x harder to get at with almost zero room to swing a wrench ..the left and right mounts I was able to do with a socket extension but the center mount is on a longer thread that makes all sockets too short..This video is as easy at is gets , not at all what I'm dealing with
Every thing is clean and pristine. Plenty of space. Not quite the normal situation for a faucet which has been in service since when ever. Not quite the regular situation most commonly encountered. Jay.
If my old faucet looked that good, and I had unlimited access to the hardware under the sink and there was no rust or corrosion it may be that easy. Reality ?, not so much.

The answer is to not demonstrate this in ideal conditions. You mention you may have challenges and then you just suggest call a phone number instead of showing trouble shooting common issues in a video. You know what the problem is and you intentionally ignore it.
Old is supposed to be the key word here. I can't just reach in and turn a plastic piece with bare hands to disconnect from sink. My faucet has this wierd specilized nut holding them together. Which was the entire reason I'm here
I was able to remove my old faucet quickly by simply cutting it off with a reciprocating saw from up top. Seems a little extreme I know but most of us aren’t going to reuse the old hardware anyway so. 😅
Yes instead of putting the mounting nuts on brass they put them on some kind of simple metal which rusted up horribly hopefully they will start to come off otherwise I'm going to have to cut them with a Dremel tool
Please change title to, "How to Uninstall a Brand New Kitchen Faucet When You've Got 300 Square-Feet Of Room To Work With Under Your Sink". If this is you and you just stumbled across the video, it's your lucky day! For everyone else, keep browsing. Nothing to see here.
The faucet you are removing appears to be a new one. The Delta faucet I have installed has a plastic connector that connects it to the faucet, but I have no instructions on how to disconnect it. I have removed the large black clip to hold those two lines together, but can't get those two lines separated. Does anyone know how?
I have a 18 years-old Delta faucet, the nut is hide in a thick wood plate, no any tool can access that rust nut, I tried basin wrench, channel wrench or adjustable wrench... none of them works. Finally, a technician came to use a reciprocating saw to cut the faucet from the top, it took 5 minutes. But I was charged $529! I would suggest customer to rent a reciprocating saw from home depot, it cost $21 for 4 hours. Yes, this video is only for newly installed faucet.
lmao 😂 yea if your replacing a faucet that was installed last week lol. bout to take a sledgehammer to my entire sink and counter and replace it all at the rate this is going.
Than you for your question Rami Kneifati. I would be happy to help. Our faucet models usually come with a special wrench that helps to install and uninstall in tight spaces. -Bryan
I have less than a quarter of an inch to move the wrench with my sink. Far less. Like, 6 mm of room, maybe. It's so bad, it seems as if I'd have to demolish the entire sink just to get to the top bolts.
We're sorry to hear there are issues removing your current model. If this is a Delta Faucet you are uninstalling, please contact us directly for further assistance as we'd be happy to help. -Edward Phone: 1-800-345-3358 | Email: customerservice@deltafaucet.com| Facebook/Twitter: @deltafaucet
In theory it is a simple job but I'm in my 50s and just replaced a leaking, dirty old faucet for my 83 yr old mum who has never cleaned under the sink and it was hell.
Has anyone tried to use a heavy walled plastic pipe with 4 slot cuts to remove the hand winged nut which is supposed to be “hand tight” only? For cases where hands are not enough to loosen… 🙂 Otherwise have to paid $22 for the “all-in-one” faucet tool.
Hello Customer. Yes we would agree to use a socket wrench with an extender in those hard to reach places. We are sorry that you are having difficulties. With any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out directly. -Carrie
The old delta faucet in this video looks exactly line a brand new one, how convenient, but useless this video is. Mine is mounted into a cast iron sink and is more than 33 years old
