How to Unlock FCC Mode on DJI RC / RC2 / RC Pro Controller & FIX Bad Signal! 

For informational purposes only - please be advised that using this version of the app also removes the 120m height limit within the DJI fly app for mini 4 owners in EU.

I don’t see the difference between CE and FCC modes when you zoom in. What are the indicators of being in CE/FCC mode?

If only this setting would be a permenent thing. Too much hassle to keep changing it every time you fly

The problem is you are using shared spectrum. If you crashed your drone because someone was using an illegally powerful WiFi nearby you would justifiably be very unhappy.... ditto if someone loses their WiFi if you are using illegal drone transmit power then they will be unhappy. I very much doubt if the police will be explicitly hunting "FCC hackers"... HOWEVER!!! if something does go wrong & they catch you for something else (illegal height/range or a crash) then they ARE now checking for FCC mode & will treat it as a "Brucie bonus" as something else to charge you with.. & they will... & they will also use it as a means to undermine the credibility of your defence for the main offence. Think of the car equivalent... do the police explicitly hunt window tints?. No, but have an accident & they will check your window tint, & your number plate & your exhaust pipe & if the car has been "chipped" (& if it has they will tell the insurance company who will say "unauthorised modification... car not insured"... then the police get you for driving without insurance too).... the trick is not to give them the opportunity to have a field day. Ah but.... this will never happen you say.... All I will say is take a look at the very recent convictions for other drone infringements.... they are checking for it. Ofcom & the Euro-agencies have done the calcs & the EU spec should be adequate.... "ghetto blasting" with FCC power levels shouldn't be required.... their case against you would probably start with "you say the EU mode wasn't adequate for you.. that suggests you may have been pushing range or going behind things with BVLoS. Which is it?"..... That isn't an easy one to defend against. The final point is that it isn't just your controller that receives your drone signal. ANYONE can (there are RU-vid videos on how easy it is to do even for amateurs.). The authorities are also starting to "sniff" for drones. You go FCC high power & you can be "sniffed" at much greater ranges.... that gives your drone location, drone height, range AND PILOT LOCATION (thank DJI for all that). A "one off" minor infringement probably won't trigger anything, but get noticed for it regularly and you may start to appear on their "radar" AND FCC HIGH POWER MODE WILL GET YOU NOTICED AT LONGER RANGES. Talk about "big brother watching you".... Take your flight profile (& pilot location).... that if you are using DJI all of which anyone can sniff off-air... & simply patch that into GoogleEarth city areas with 3D clutter & buildings showing & they can quickly get a quantified measure of what percentage of your flight was BVLoS behind buildings etc. What defence would you use against that?.... Go FCC & you are shouting to more people about what you are doing. What I also have to laugh about is the RID debate... there is already WAY more information freely available even now about your flight. The RID is just a little "icing" on an existing cake & doesn't significantly add to your already public info (& if VLoS is say 200m, if you knew the drone location you would probably be able to see the pilot anyway). The authorities will probably be treating it more like "If I see RID (& it ties in with the telemetry) then ignore it... if its RID is missing (or has been spoofed) then investigate it further". ..... in the future when RID comes in if you WANT to get huckled then just turn your RID off & go FCC mode. Here is an interesting scenario.... EU spec drone crashes due to interference & causes damage, but the interference was from a high power FCC drone in the vicinity. Who would be held liable?.... the money grabbing lawyers who loved to debate if Pringles were crisps or potato snacks & if Jaffa cakes were cakes or biscuits would LOVE to be paid for debating that one at length & I wouldn't want to be person nailed with the bill at the end of that one. The CAA/OfCom view is probably going to be along the lines of "if nothing happens don't worry about it, but if something does happen check & stomp on everything (& give them enough rope beforehand to hang themselves & make our prosecution easier )". "FCC is better for me" could be viewed along the lines of "my car goes better if I take the CAT out of the exhaust". It may be true but I wouldn't suggest it for a defence.

Thanks for sharing, I try and it works. But one thing that anybody using this methode should be aware. Once RC lost connection with aircraft, it will reset to CE mode again. So make sure that you set the RTH lost connection before you fly.

just tried this and on my rc pro i dont get the quick transfer mode coming up on the screen so not working, I had to uninstall my original dji fly app before i could install the fcc app and now i have to uninstall the fcc app before the genuine fly app will re install on my phone .WHAT A MESS !!!..My firmware for my controller is (03.02.0500) which is the latest for the controller and the aircraft firmware is 01.00.1200 Mavic 3 .So if you own a Mavic 3 with an RC Pro controller then you might be better going to the pub and spending the money on a few beers.The quick transfer mode works on official Dji fly app but not the fcc hack version .

It’s 38 euro for the app and a disclaimer that if DJI release a patch then you have no comeback, so you would need to be careful on updates from DJI

Just to say folks, the app doesnt work yet on Android 14 - I purchased the app but it only stays open for several seconds before crashing and closes. Contacted the company and they confirmed they are currently working to get a fix for this

Something I find interesting is when I purchased my first DJI drone (Phantom 2 Vision+) back in 2014. In living in the UK using the DJI Assistant Software you had a couple of options. First of all if you did not have your reading glasses on you could "accidentally" put your P2V+ in FCC mode. Simply by accidentally selecting FCC mode. Secondly you could put your P2V+ into NAZA mode (No GPS Assistance). One of the advantages in using NAZA mode was shooting smoother video in not using GPS.

I have mini 4 pro with RC2 controller and the quick share won't connect on the controller to be able to do the hack , when you hit quick share in the controller it just says to connect the phone to the mini 4 pro

No, with the new update done about a week ago this feature no longer works. Do you know we can do it to the new update

Why some people dont understand that when you buy that soft you automaticly can't update firmware ...

I bought this app and it works perfectly on android 10. But doesn't work on s23 ultra with android 14. They are working on it.

Hi Gavin. I have 2 questions. Is it working with any firmeware version ( the latest ? ) and how does it work, when I want to fly the Mini4 with the goggles 2 and motion controller?

😊😊😊😊when the -90dbm is align with 1km mark on the right side you are on CE mode and when the -90 line is lower than the 1km mark you are in FCC mode.

So for me, Quick Transfer has never started automatically on the FlyApp from my cell phone. And if you manually activate Quick Transfer by pressing the drone's power button three times, the RC controller immediately loses the connection. I wonder how this is supposed to work? Has anyone actually managed this with the RC controller?

I found another site to do this. Cost a little more but then you have a permanent FCC patch on ur Rc 2. Did expect alot more range due to the antennas and occusync 4. Just gave me 600 meters extra than my Mini 3 pro FCC Rc controller

I just want to leave a comment on this FANTASTIC combination of the FCC DJI Fly version and the Battery PLUS. I have a Mini 4 PRO with a DJI RC2. I reached a distance of 4 km with NO LOSS OF ONE bar on the signal power. I decided to return on myself just to be on the safe side, but I believe I could have reached 6 or 7 km…!! I also reached mountains side areas I have never been able to reach before. The « shadow » effect of a mountain or a building is not there anymore. It is so safe to fly knowing you always stay in control. I am really happy of my purchase and congratulations again for your work..!!

Does it default back to ce on each boot up or does it stay in fcc after doing the drone hacks setup?

Absolute nightmare, I have lost my maps, no map display at all, the track follow mode has disappeared but yeh I can now fly 500 metres or more.... not happy at all!!!

If I’m honest, I absolutely hate videos that are tutorials where they don’t speak and expect you to read everything on the screen in the amount of time it’s on. My eyesight is not good enough to do that. I do wish that people who produce these videos would actually narrate them, or at least get somebody else to narrate them if they don’t want their voice on it.

Odds on DJI patching this is an update? Have they so in the past? Don’t want to spend €40 and then it not work in like a week Also is there any videos online showing this hack working and comparing to CE mode?

Thanks for sharing this Gavin! I had left the inbuilt screen controller to one side and had only used it once as the lack of FCC mode really allowed for poor transmission. Have tested this out now and it connects just like your link explains 👌 Now just have to wait for a calmer day to test it out flying, but thanks again 👍

It works But careful if it disconnects then it’s back to CE and if you too far then hopefully it will return to home

Does not work... when using QuickTransfer, the RC controller will disconnect from the drone. Only the phone and the drone will have any connection. Another rip off

Using the Pc, not phone, it looks difficult. Poor video, making anonymous clicks on points not showed clearly. I've seen, and tried, a way were a certain file is placed on the SD card. Better? It didn't get worse... As I've experienced signal trouble it is the signal from the drone that goes low. No picture is received by the controller. Then turning the drone gives no feedback and navigation is hopeless. However the controller commands reach the drone. Checking the Mini 3 pro the transmission picture is the same as the one shown here. Maybe FCC is in use? Wow. The Mavic 3 pro show the same picture.

Drone Tweaks app doesn't support support Android 14 which most newer phones from Samsung has and I'm doubtful it support the latest FW updates from DJI. Also seems very tedious to have to connect with the phone every single flight.

How do you know if you done the hack to FCC mode ? On the transmission mode just look the same to me . Is there an indication..as far as am concern I done complete the hack successfully on RC 2 controller. Mavic Mini 4 pro

Safer flights are safer, it doesn't get any more simpler than that imo. This company is spot on and the creator is a great guy too.
