How to unlock the boot loader on the HTC Droid Incredible

Just recently picked up a working one of these for 40 bucks and love playing with this stuff as it is my secondary device so if I happen to brick it , ill have to learn to fix it as well lol, again youre awesome bud.

after i put in "fastboot oem get_identifier_token" it says < waiting for device > and dosnt do anything

my old htc incredible does not say "locked" or "unlocked" in the hboot menu. device continuously reboots in an endless loop. HBOOT - 0.92.0000. i was able to switch from verizon to pageplus yesterday but for some reason its endless rebooting without launching to the phone menu is very annoying and dont know what to do. installing the boot loaded via usb cable from my pc solve this issue?

I don't know if I would have figured this out without your video and links! I was getting lost the endless downloads and related failures required by the "official" instructions. You made it a breeze!

unfortunately, I keep getting the "Waiting for Devices" prompt from cmd.exe

When I type fastboot devices, I get nothing. When I type fastboot oem get_identifier_token it just says I'm sure i did everything right

Hi Rootjunky, Is there any way to perform this procedure without setting up an account at HTCdev? No matter what I enter on their registration form, I get "You are not authorized to perform this action. Go back to the registration page and try again." when I click Register. Thanks.

I could not get to page 2 kept telling me I had to log in again then errors out in confirming disclaimer. Had to select All other supported models to get to the screen where you past the token. At least that worked and I got the unlock token just fine. With the commands from the video was able to unlock my boot loader. Thanks for the information.

I have a question. when i "type fastboot oem get_identifier_token" i get an error. it says ... "INFO ERR Command error !!!". what do i do?

When I turn on the phone it's asking me to activate it through Verizon...Is this the step I use first to unlock so I can use the phone on a Sprint plan.

You haven't shared the ABD files with anyone, and the HTC Sync zip just doesn't exist.

When I try to detect my phone with the command 'fastboot devices' i get nothing. Do I need to go into the phone and change a setting to be able to detect the phone?

also, my device has ANKER Li-ION battery made for HTC EVO 4G/Touch Pro2, is this a problem for this phone?

I am at 4:38 and now stumped. Ive right clicked while holding shift. There is no 'OPEN COMMAND WINDOW HERE' anywhere. ? Im running xp 32bit

Everything goes fine, except the end................ When i am asked that - Do i want to unlock it with option"YES" or "NO". if i am clicking power button for yes, then there is no response, but if i click for "no", then it is again locked. When i type in the "fastboot devices" command i get the correct info, however when I then type in the "get identifier token" command I get ... "INFO[ERR] Command error !!!" Any ideas?

"...AND HIT POWER" mate u forgot to say that this UNLOCK WILL DELETE EVERYTHING on your phone! Nice job! .... The biggest complaint I have about the wipe that the unlocking process does, is that it wipes the sdcard. I mean, c'mon, is that really necessary?? ... never again htc

awesome! worked... thanks for the step by step vid. would not have done it with out that kind of help. it is fun to pull out the old phone and get new life out of it. have been using it as a wifi phone with goove ip for awhile now but have wanted to root, just didnt know how. thanks
