I show how to UPDATE Autel VCI Firmware or VCI update for Autel Scanners (Autel scan tool). This procedure cuts across different makes of Autel scanners and applies to the MaxiVCI mini, MaxiVCI 100, and the wireless diagnostic interface (for the MK908 for example). It is essential in addition to routine Autel scanner updates, to have the vehicle connector interface aka wireless bluetooth VCI, updated to the latest firmware to ensure optimal connectivity to vehicles. The MaxiVCI mini is used by tools like MaxiCHECK MX808TS, MaxiCOM MK808TS and MK808BT. Examples of Autel scanners that use the MaxiVCI 100 include the MaxiSYS MS906BT, MaxiSYS MS906TS etc. The MaxiCOM MK908 uses the wireless diagnostic interface aka bluetooth diagnostic interface.

Hi, I've bought a new autel since the price for update pushes u to do that 🙄.. The tablet is old but i really would like to use the maxi mini vci on other tablet/phone etc. Is it possible? Anyone?

It should work with other compatible Autel scanners ie, those that use the MaxiVCI mini. Don't think it will work with any other devices, but could be wrong. Never tried, and won't advise anyone to do so, just in case you brick something. You could sell on Ebay or keep as a spare?

Can this clear airbag lights the version you have ?

Yes. Depending on what caused the airbag light to come on. If its a general airbag fault not resulting from an accident, it will clear after appropriate repairs. On the other hand, if airbags or seatbelt deploy, this will not clear the light. As a matter of fact, only special dedicated tools will delete the crash data and clear the light. Depends on what the update is, but can include better connection speeds, addressing bugs etc.

My VCI 100 will not connect. When I plug it in the power light stays amber which according to the manual means it's self testing and it never changes. The autel cannot find the VCI when I scan for available devices and it is not showing any firmware updates available in the VCI manager. Not sure how to proceed.

Sorry to hear this. Does the VCI 100 have a port for doing a wired connection from the VCI to the tool? Have you tried that?

@@DIYAutoworksNG Yeah it can be wired to the tool but even if I switch off the BT it will not connect with the car. The VCI still just stays amber colored at the power LED indicator. I'm going to order a new one.

Well, is not all the time such simple. My Autel MP808 is doing an firmware upgrade since yesterday (18 hours) and is keep telling me "please don't disconnect or exit from this page!". I wonder what's happening if it will be disconnected... After all is just another cheap and crap piece of Chinese technology.

Firmware upgrade running into hours is odd. Still you still have a subscription, I recommend reaching out to Autel tech support. Definitely sounds off. Never experienced this on mine. However, I have forcefully shutdown some windows PC/laptop that just hung during an update. Do you have a backup?

@@DIYAutoworksNG Thanks for your reply. Opened a ticket on Autel, no replay so far. Fortunately I did forced the device to close the update and I had success. Most probably it didn't even started the update process. I disconnected the interface cable and the update process was discontinued by the device. Anyway, right now it tell me that I have the current FW version 0.0.1 and the last one 2.0.3. Obviously something is wrong... and for sure I'm not going into an update any soon. Cheers!

Lol. Glad you had it resolved! Had a recent experience with an XTOOL. Programmed a key and it just wouldn't confirm at the last step. I shut the car off and turned it on again and the step completed. I have the same 2.03 version. Guess you may try it again after Autel support gets back.
