How to update BIOS on MSI Motherboards using M-FLASH (2024) 

Had the same problem. 2 things. 1. Make sure the USB ISN'T plugged in when you go into M-Flash. 2. If you're still getting a blank screen, get another monitor. For some reason flash new gaming monitors won't project the video output of the bios/settings menu. Chucked an older monitor on mine, all good.

Download latest version because latest bios has wide range of xmp compatible ram support as well

You can install windows first and then update your motherboard bios

NTFS file system isn't supported, the USB flash drive need to be FAT32 formatted

It's recommended to plug it into a read IO port, not a front port.

Why would you NOT update your BIOS using the very specifically named BIOS port? Not trying to be mean but i have no idea why someone would NOT want to use it.

I wasn’t able to flash my bios from the front usb ports. Needed to use one of the back usb ports

12400 is supported on this motherboard out of the box.

B660M Mortar motherboard supports 12th gen intel cpus out of the box. You have to update the bios using 12th gen part to use latest 13th gen cpus. Or you can buy the motherboard which has bios flashback feature. Bios flashback allows you to update the bios without cpu

I have i5-12400 + B660M D4 as well but spider man runs without any issue. I don't see any stutters while gaming

@@michaelarjuna7837 i just built my pc, used a 13th gen on a 12th gen board, and it did work. As long as you have the bios button on the motherboard you want, you should be good

This motherboard doesn't have bios flashback button so you need to have 12th gen CPU to update the bios

Format your usb flash drive to FAT32 instead of NTFS

MSI recommends BIOS update only if your PC has some problems. So if you don't need an update then don't do it

Don't forget: bios updates are also needed if you're planning on running a newer gen CPU than the original manufacture update on the motherboard provided.
