Good video. I had been wanting to update the firmware on my W650 for a while. Tried to update to 1.021_1101_F037 last night and it started and looked to be doing well then crashed and totally bricked the unit. It's hosed now, and I just purchased a W670. Guess it was time for an upgrade, lol.

Would you recommend an update for the alpine ILX-W650 if I’m getting sound from the FM radio but no sound when I plug Apple CarPlay or Bluetooth?

Had mine about a year and now the sound jumps from left to right randomly, thought wiring might be issue but my stereo guy says it's the head unit itself.. any suggestions?

If Pandora app is not working with Android is it possible that you need to do a firmware update? Pandora did several updates months ago and when they did these updates it screwed up pandora. So I'm wondering if it's a firmware issue that the stereo needs.

Do you have to do the reset part? Won’t let remove all my settings? Why is this necessary and what happens if I don’t reset?

Hey guys so I’m having issues with my ILX-W650, wonder if I can get some input. Bought mine almost a year ago, set it up myself and everything was perfect. I just upgraded to the new iPhone 13 Pro Max and I’m having issue with the Apple Music app, as in it crashes when I go to play music. I’m coming from an 11 Pro Max which was hasn’t been update with the iOS 15 but has worked flawlessly. I haven’t tried updating the firmware just yet but I figure someone might be having the same problems as I am and we could figure it out. Thanks again!

I'm not getting any movement on the erase bar...at the end of the process it's not updated. Still the old firmware version.

My CarPlay hasn’t been wanting to connect and stereo sometimes says device not supported for my iPhone 12. Gonna try and hope this resolved the issues. Thanks for the video.

How do you power it off if you don’t want it on while driving?

Put the file on the usb, unzipped the file. Went through the process on the radio and when I click update firmware it shows the 3 bars but then says no file found on usb.

Hi, Does it have 3 way audio crossover support? I was going to buy it but if it does not have 3 way I will not buy it

I know this thread is a bit old, but I have this stereo myself and I just bought it new a little over a year, but was never aware of updates for it like this, but for the most part my stereo works great, but lately my android auto has started crashing alot, and I have to plug and unplug my phone to get it working again. Would this update help it? Mine says it's on f037 firmware.

i just downloaded it on a flash drive ,, entereded it thru the Usb cable and let it install,simple.,LOL! never so simple ,did it twice before it excepted the file.

I installed today, main screen works like let's me bluetooth, and mess with sounds and radio. When I turn my lights on it switches the screen black with colored cones???. Music still plays and can change on my phone but can't do anything on screen. Do I have a wire mis hap????

According to Alpine... you cannot format / use files from Mac .. what a joke. Alpine will never get another $ from me ...
