How to upgrade THE LECTRIC XP! mod and increase speed! cheap electric bike

After reviewing the Lectric XP I felt it needed some modifications. Today We dive into my upgraded LEctric XP. Learn how to mod you lectric xp and increase the speed to 28 mph.

For the grips you use an air compressor with air gun , you'll never do it any other way after that

i usually jam a flat head or butter knife and send a good shot of spit down the space.... remove tool and start twisting.... works pretty good if u are in a pinch. water works... never thought of a compressor though... i like it... clean.

Use a 18 g needle and syringe full of water to get grips off. They float right off.

did you press the top compression ring into the bearings like you pressed the cups into the frame? there’s a small gap between the headset cover and the bike frame and there’s also some play in the headset with the headset that you recommended.

Great video. I am going to change the suspension fork on my Lectric xp. Any chance you can do a comparison between the same bike battery and the Lectric xp battery? I was told you can actually use a 14ah same bike battery in the Lectric XP.

Almost Awesome With Will what am interested in if the batteries are compatible with each other than you can updated the Lectric Xp from a 10.4ah battery to a 14ah battery that you can get for the same bike. That would give you roughly 35% more battery and distance

Hi, thanks for the vid. It looks very much like the Fiido M1. Is this a noname version of it ? Is it big enough for an 1m83 high person or the bike is too small ?

Kamui〈:-D this is the lectric xp. Its a major brand at least where im from. Its a excellent bike and yes very similar to the fiido m1 but cost a lot less and has a very strong motor. The fiido m1 is only 250 watts, very weak. Also the lectric xp doesn’t have a rear suspension. If i understand correctly you are about 6 foot tall. Id say yes you can ride this bike. Im 5 foot 11 inchs and feels pretty comfortable.

It looks like the Fiido because there are many ebikes out there that use exactly the same frame, Or similar design, From the same factories in china. The XP is no doubt made in china, Using a motor system from china.. Don't be fooled it's American lol. But back to lectric, They only ship US and Canada.

Awesome upgrades. Now put on a Microsoft Advent 9 speed group set with clutch and much bigger range for higher top speed, easier climbing and no more ghost pedaling.

well, you've certainly pushed the bike to its limit, but i'm not so sure i'd do the same. just sayin'... i would do ANY of this on my rad rover, but that's not why i bought an xp. i want to commute on it, and throw it the back of my lexus suv for some light running around on forest roads - so i can get BACK! i've got mr tuffy liners, etc on the rover, it's a bit more built for this, etc. the xp is also easier riding for friends that maybe haven't been on a bike for a while.

To get the handlebar grips off easily and in one piece. Blow compressed air under the grip. They usually come off pretty easily.

Is there a specific reason the bmx bars won’t fit on the factory stem other than size? I’m starting with moderate mods for a better touring experience but won’t be going off road like you, but my better half hates semi straight handlebars and wants a larger rise, but looking to keep the stock fork and stem if possible. I know it’s hard finding many bars with a 25.4mm clamp size, just wondering if this is the only reason. Great video again, those overgrown weeds and palms in April really make me miss Florida.

jtaheri223 technically it will fit the stem but in my opinion it would be to tall but who knows it could work for your needs. I guess it all depends how tall you want the handles. Im pretty sure they make even shorter (height) bmx handle bars. However if you removed the extendable stem you wouldnt be able to because the fork is thread to the threaded bearing head set and is basically cut off at the top of the bike frame head tube leaving no room for a stem to fit on the fork. Hopefully that makes sense. Just make sure you dont use mtb handle bars with that stem as it will be to thick

Strill Life yea the fenders are practical if your in wet or sandy environments i guess. Or if your commuting to work. But if your just use it to go out and have fun then i recommend it. I hate the clanking of metal fenders

I plan on getting a couple of these bikes and have watched pretty much every video relating to it. I was wondering why you don't have a suspension seat post and better seat. And changing out the sprockets in the rear would certainly help you when pedaling at 28 mph - you wouldn't have to pedal so fast. Of course changing bars you lose the foldable aspect of this bike when transporting 2 in a vehicle. Otherwise, good job. I like the forks - first one I've seen with them.

Enki & Enlil the suspension seat and seat its self just didnt seem needed to me. After i did everything to the bike it felt like a finished idea that worked well for my needs. The rear sprocket doesnt really need to be change. Thats a miss conception about reaching 28mph. The motor is actually capable of doing it with out pedaling. It just needs to know your pedaling to allow you to top out at that speed. I didnt really need my bike to be foldable so changing the handle bars wasnt a concern and a better trade off

To get grips off, Used either compressed air and try water as lube.. or wd-40 with a small straw.. don't need to cut off

Enjoyed your review and part bolt on switcheroo, up until you started riding on landscaped private property. Then, I thought, ¡d/●+! Dont you realize thats how municipalities banned skateboarders from public sidewalks in some states? I hope you realize, that kind of ebike riding is what will have cities across the usa banning use of electric powered bikes in public spaces, i.e sidewalks, parks, riding to work, etc. If 20-30, a 100 or more knuckledraggers watch this video and rip it up in manicured landscaped lawns in their particular town or city, very soon we all will lose more of our bike riding rights..... I dont believe lectric sells bigger batteries but i do know there different manufacturers out there that sell batteries that fit the lectric. Not sure if they give you more distance but they might. Join the lectric owners facebook group and ask around. Im sure you might be able to get a definitive answer

Nice upgrades, really makes the bike look more aggressive. I'm not a fan of the beanstalk handlebar stem, but I need to fold my bike and pop in the car pretty regularly. Mine came with a suspension fork, but I want a better one for when I do mountain bike trails. Bigger problem is keeping the front wheel on the ground. I can turn the power down on the steeper trails (1800 watts), but it's a hassle.

CinePost thats a trickey one. I would say as far as price goes i prefer the modded lectric xp to the 350 watt modded samebike build. Also i will say i spent more on the samebike build then the lectric xp build. However if i want to do mtb trails i think you have to go with the samebike build. The lectric xp modded can do some decend off road trails pretty well but not so sure yet of mtb trails.

What a waste! Slide a screwdriver under the grip add a few drops of water, they come right off. Or a air nozzle from an air compressor will do it.

Tim Bain its speculated that the lectic xp motor is actually a 750 watt bafang not a 500 watt motor. You should definitely look into it. Dont want you to waste your money. Thats why they removed the labeling. They wanted to market it as 500 watts so that it could pass certain criteria allowing to be sold in more places.

Use compressed to remove and replace grips. Easy peasy just place the nozzle under the edge and they slide right on and right off

change the controller to phaserunner and buy a cycle analyst. Check how to wire it but it should be really easy. with this you can raise the top speed and acceleation by 40% at least!. if you install battery with higher voltage you can go even faster!

Craig Stevenson actually recently i discovered a headtube extender that slides into the existing headtube and expands when you tighten it. I saw it in some one else’s video so cant say where they got it. The main issue here being that the fork headtube is flush with the top of the frame headtube so theres no where to attach traditional handle bars.

Will this fork fit Ecotric 20" fat bikes? Manufacturer said they are not sure and said Ecotric fork dimensions are "28.6*25.4*153L T135"

Nice the suspension is one thing I wanted to do. I replaced the handle bars with motorcycle bars added grips and changed out the light, oh and did the pedals. I added an ammo can on the back which works for me, but I do like the look without the fenders also. Great Video.I made some videos on mine also check it out.

I just saw this. A Baofeng mid drive mounted on the XP will make the rear wheel go 55+ mph. Just passing that on to someone who might enjoy that information.

John Vitti yes the handle bars dont fold so it does affect the folding of the bike. spacers are in the description under stem spacers. Hope that helps

Great vid, especially the ride at the end. Damn, I have had my XP since Dec. I was wintering in Florida until a few weeks ago and got to ride about every day down there. I took mine alot on the beaches on the Atlantic ocean and it was great. I love mine, but could never ride as well as you. But then, I am 66 years old. LOL

wired thats slow, my lectric goes over 30 easy if on full charge, and i still got everything on it. but watching your vids i bet i can reach up to 40.

Tony Abreu i would say its about as much as a regular bike. Just make sure to understand proper safety and responsibilities of riding ebikes. Other than that its easy. Theres a facebook lectric xp owners group worth joining if you have a bunch of questions. They lover to share and answer questions.

I know its possible but theres the easy way and the hard way. On the xp 1 i had, the stem is threaded which means you would need to thread the head tube of the fork to make it work. However i know there are other foldable after market stems out there so you wouldnt need to thread it. (Ie thread-less) referring to thread-less head sets.

Replacement arrived!By the way, I did forget to mention that the original lure did have a decent strike however as most anglers will attest you can get a hit ru-vid.comUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 and fish will hang on and release lure. I used the replacement lure yesterday and ran thru a Shimano Waxwing, Kastmaster, Bobber (set to sink). I found the does run deep (I casting on the flats 3.5'). Make sure you adjust your rate of retrieve and rod tip angle (up) to prevent getting snagged on bottom. Used it a couple of times and action was very lifelike (looked like local bait fish for trevally), craftsmanship very good....however eyeball fell out. I asked for replacement and it is on it's way! It was very easy to change out treble to single inline hook.

I ended up using a whole new headset. However i had a spare generic one from a different bike so i didnt need to order one. Although i did put a link in the description of a good cheap headset that will work

And of course you need a proper pump for the air forks and that will cost you a little more plus good luck finding a Neco H185. Stick with the half turn throttle too just get some quality grips like Wolf Tooth Fat Bear and trim the RH grip. Change out the freewheel of course, get a better seat and suspension post, a quality light and you're set for a dual purpose ride.

So I did what you said man and I was going 31.2 miles uphill sitting down.......wow....I swear to God. And then once I found a slight smooth downhill on a bike trail I went all out and I hit 35.0 I swear to God I will record it and post it 35.0..... only after I did exactly what you just said.

With a bikearoo seat and a suspension lectric post..... No other modifications ....if anything they added a liiil weight. I have the little back metal cargo thing whatever you wanna call it ...and the fenders still attached.....Been about 130 miles on this bike....hit 35 miles MULTIPLE TIMES! ...Slight downhill both times but on flat ground it gets to 31/32 miles an hour top speed with these settings..... and to top of all that I have a back rear tire that ran over a nail so I put a piece of flex tape on it and went 35 miles an hour....Hand to god himself ....I will post a video and show you all.

Awesome video. I was looking to upgrade to a suspension fork on mine. Will that fork work on the stock handlebar setup without modifications?

Louis Lavin ive never done it before but it might be possible. The extension rod thing that holds the handle bars on the original set up uses a compression style tightening nut (not sure of the official name) that fits into the head tube. If it fits in the stock head tube it should also fit in the one im using. But also your going to need to cut down the head tube of the suspension fork as it would need to be flush with the top of the threaded head set. Probably the best thing for you to do before you order anything is to remove your handle bar extension thing so you can see how its all attached together.
