Not ideal more like practical. Ideal would be a knife or baton. If someone attacks you wile you're practising just hit him with the giant stick with a string attached to it (bow). It's longer, heavier and will be way more effective.

You're not supposed to just swing it wildly. You CAN swing it immediately to avoid a fight. If you're attacker is persistant you should start with your fists and pull it out to distance yourself. For example: You punch the person with your right hand and follow up with a backhand swing with the monkey fist. Your attacker might be confused as to what the hell just hit them in the face. Another thing you might not know is if you're not strong enough to do a choke hold this can definitely be used to keep them in place.

understandable, i am not a gun fan but i think pistols are fine (as long as no one is trigger happy) but i like melee weapons myself, and if i were to go into work or college with a monkey fist you have a lesser chance of getting punished (as both have rules not to bring weapons into the store/campus, you could argue it is like one of those little "cat ears" self defense key chain but yeah no guarantees though, if i were to bring one i would keep it in my bag) but of corse do not whip it out randomly.

Trouble is, living in Texas you have a way higher chance than most of us of coming into contact with someone carrying a similar weapon who wants to blow YOU away with it.

Hi. Congratulations, it is a really nice bow. Just did a review recently. I use wood dowels in a board to lay my bows on it. Might be the best way. But even when you stand your bow in a corner will be fine. Or you get the bow hanger from bearpaw, it is meant to be on the belt. But you can open it and fix ist with a button on a board on a wall.
