I love my Cone board. Been using it about ten years now. I fish on Lake Superior and Lake Michigan and have never seen anybody else using one. I get a lot of looks from curious boats. Great video.

Great tip Marc, I never heard of this either but makes perfect sense. I am in awe of your tackle stock behind you every time I watch your videos. Better stocked than a lot of tackle shops I have seen.

It’s always good for a few extra fish in the boat when combined with a 5 or 6 colour leadcore. 150 Weighted Steel or a Snap weight rig.

Great idea I bet I will catch a few fisherman too when they cut across my stern.I know to give lots of room but many do not.

Unfortunately that comes with the territory when using side or stern planers. I try to anticipate what the other anglers might do and keep myself out of their way... I’m running 9-10 rods typically so the last thing I want to someone cutting across my spread. The good news with a stern planer is other fishermen can see the planer vs a regular chute rod and hopefully they don’t run the spread over.

Absolutely… I use clip weights often with a stern planer.

How are they when making turns? Especially when you have to dodge other boats and turn sharp staying out of divers or inside board lines?

No concerns at all ... everything moves in the same direction on the turn and I’ve had no tangle issues on a turn and I’ve been running this setup for a number of years.

Can the stern planer be clipped directly to leadcore without damaging the line? If so this offers maximum versatility.

I'd assume it's like any release and you shouldn't clip it directly to the leadcore

@@patrickgaghen5273 yet guys seem to be clipping snap weights to leadcore ... but i agree on a side planer.

Well considering you're not supposed to even clip a planer board to it because you can break it.... if you're gonna use snap weights I don't understand the reason to use leadcore in the first place
