This was great. Exactly what I needed plus some insight into how they can sometimes be over sensitive. Only thing I would be curious about is what happens when you put it directly on the stud to calibrate but that’s an easy workaround to find the answer myself. Thank you
@WolletBoys
@WolletBoys Год назад
I wish I would of showed that one on video. In my experience if you start on a stud you’ll get mixed readings. I’ll only drill if I can get consistent results from each direction. Thank you for the comment.

Outstanding I’m putting cabinets on my garage walls and use a stud finder but I’m concerned about hitting electrical wires. Lowes has this and other scanners. I’m going to get one specifically for electrical alert features.

Thank you for your video! I’m hoping you have some advice, I’m trying to hang up something to surprise my husband but am not sure how to safely avoid electric cables. If the electric cable light comes up do you avoid the entire area?
@WolletBoys
@WolletBoys 2 года назад
Good question, I'm not an expert in this area but this is how I do it. Typically in modern construction the electric is ran threw the center of the studs and along a stud to the light switches. If you're hanging something like a picture with a short scew or nail, I'd say go for it. If you're hanging a flat screen TV that requires big lag screws, I'd say no. I hope this helps a little bit.

No problem! I don’t believe they offer the one I used anymore.

Any modern Zircon is really good. The one used here is good but I think it's an entry model. I go 1 step up with one that has a screen to visually shown you where about the stud is.
@jtgarcia181
@jtgarcia181 2 года назад
Also what’s the best kind of stud finder?
@WolletBoys
@WolletBoys 2 года назад
Man... that's a hard one. There are so many. The best one I've ever used is Zircon 740 it like $60. If you just using around the house I'd pick one just above the cheapest model.
@ratofalady8125
@ratofalady8125 9 месяцев назад
so does that mean sometimes there ARE live wires behind studs and you cant just assume drilling into a stud is safe ??
@WolletBoys
@WolletBoys 9 месяцев назад
Not necessarily, if you’re just hanging pictures with small screws and nails it shouldn’t be a problem. When you start hanging large items like a flatscreen tv, they require a large lag bolt. That’s when you should start checking for wires. Best of luck!

hanging some plant lights in a ceiling with a toggle doohickey. bout two feet from a recessed light and i have no idea where wires go and literally be the first time drilling anything into a wall 🤦‍♂️
@WolletBoys
@WolletBoys 2 года назад
You got this! A couple things to help out *I'm not an expert* just trying to help. Most likely the wiring for the lights run along the center of the joist, usually a 2×10. So the chance of hitting it will be low. Also, you might want to attach directly to the joist instead of using a toggle. That mainly depends of the weight of the plants. Good luck 👍
