I just accepted a job offer in construction. My father and mother separated when I was 12, my dad never took the time to teach me anything. Not even how to set up a fishing line to a rod. I really am thankful for your page, I feel like my father is teaching me except it’s not really him. It’s my new RU-vid dad. Thank you so very much. You’re a blessing to me.
My dad passed away in 2006, when I was 31. Luckily, he was there to teach me many things and these videos remind me of his many lessons! I miss him terribly but it is nice to have these videos to remind me of him.
My dad never left me, but all of my childhood he was working away or when he was home he never had time for me and never taught me basic stuff like this guy does. Id like to name you my honorary dad.

I just discovered this channel. And I can't give my thanks any more to you. My dad was murdered when I was 3 and my mum had to take up the position of father and mother. But there is only so much a mother can do to imitate your dad. These lessons I never thought I'd be taught, even if it's something as simple as how to use a tape measurer. I'm 21 and still struggle Thank you, this channel really helps people.
Hold up, they make tape measure that SHOW you what the lines are??? Well I've learned something already. Edit: I've always wondered what the red numbers were for too!! Wow! I've learned more in the last 5 minutes than I have in 24 years!
Be careful guiding / slowing the tape with your fingers as it retracts. I've sliced my finger open a couple of times doing it. I now have a tape measure with a secondary button that does the same job.

My dad lives in Canada while l live in Australia l never see him much at all l normally l just video call him, l just want to say thank you to you that you have a youtube channel just for people that don't don't have dad's whether alive or dead as soon as l heard of you on a video called people who restores your faith in humanity l searched you up and strait away subbed to you because the little things of life can make someone happy and you never know the beautys of it.

Tape measures are one of the many simple tools I think everyone should have in their tool kit, along with a good hammer, a couple of screwdrivers (both flathead and phillips, in maybe two sizes), and maybe a ratchet thing where you can put on different head. Anywho! Sorry for rambling, back on topic. I find the need for tape measure comes up far more then you'd expect, so having a good one is always good to have.
The markings are similar on measuring tape for body measurements and sewing! Just incase you need to patch up some clothing. Both types are useful to have!
My farther was never really in me life, whilst obviously there isn’t that connecting that I assume would be there your videos are super comforting, keep doing these great videos

I always have a Tapemeasure around, I don't want to estimate length at all lol. So rulers and tapemeasures are always around me. I guess being in Engineering profession makes me wanna be precise all the time. Thank you for the tips. ✍

My family has been having a lot of problems lately and my dad might go away for a few years. But if he does we won't see him again. And I had a project in English last week before stuff happened and I needed to use a tape measure, but I never got to asking my dad how to use one so I just measured out of luck. (It came out ok) But now that I have seen your video I know how to use a tape measure now! And now I'm prepared and ready for anything that could happen in the future where I might need to use one. Holy cow, I'm 34 and have used tape measures most of my life. I didnt realise the slack in the tip was for inner measurements.. I wonder how many of my measurements have been off by 1/16th..

Perfect timing. I needed to get someone a thank.you gift. His wife said he needed one with better "stand out." I had trouble with that, too. I had purchased a renowned brand and was terribly disappointed. It was expensive. This time i asked 3 different associates of different ages at Home depot. They only have older people there in the morning, so i was skeptical. But all three said the same thing, so I bought it. When i got home, i looked it up, and sure enough, it tested better! Tah dah! I will wait and see if he likes it before trading up It was very costly, too...to me. I don't know if i can give brands. Thank.you for all of your helpful info. It is great to learn this finally. I can never get the same measurement twice! Maybe i know why now.
If you hook the head on a nail you can also use it as as a compass by holding a pencil in your other hand and rotating around the nail. Not the most accurate but works for most purposes.
as a person who lost his dad at 13 years old, going through puberty all by myself without a father figure was hard for me, but then i found your video's and it helped me get through the times when i didn't know how to tie a tie for when i had my first job interview, I really appreciate your channel a lot and keep up the great post.
Most I’ve seen have both, you just have to turn it around (I’ve actually been known to measure in metric by accident before going “oh wait thats cm not inches, thought that was kinda small”)
