How to Use a TV with Broken HDMI Ports - Simple Fix for NO SIGNAL Message

If you see NO SIGNAL message on your TV and nothing that you do fixes the problem - this may be because the HDMI ports have failed and are nonfunctional anymore, which happens quite often in LG TVs. You can make the TV usable again with an inexpensive VGA adaptor or RCA convertor.
In this video, I used a $3 VGA adaptor to see if this would work, but HDMI to RCA converter should deliver a better video quality. You can find inexpensive converters here:

Both of my TVs are now doing this. 55 in TVs and I don't want to get rid of them because they are a good TVs I am going to purchase one of these I hope it works!!

Read about HDMI to RCA converters in the description if haven't done so. HDMI to RCA converters will deliver better results. It was a test for me, so I wanted to spend as little money as I could.

Great video and it works with my laptop but my Arris VIP 1113 home box it doesn't. Must be my carrier restrictions. Any thoughts, my tv is Samsung.

This is just a guess, but this might be due to the video resolution output of your connected device, which is not supported by the VGA standard. VGA supports only 1080p and your connected device may not supply the data that can be recognized and converted to VGA signal by the adapter. Now when you see that this is working and if you didn't pay much for your VGA adapter, you can try HDMI to RCA converter, which may work with a larger range of devices.

Type "HDMI to RCA Converter" in your favorite search engine and you will get hundreds of results. They are all mostly the same and will all work - so you can base your choice on the price.

If you're using an RGB adapter, the there is additional cable with 2.5mm audio jack goes from it to your TV. The video shows where the cabel comes from and go to. If you're using a composite converter - its cables carry both video and audio. You won't need any extra cables.

RCA is definitely another option, but if your VGA input didn't work then the problem may be in something else than a single component.

Can you please explain why do we need a seperate cable for transmitting sound? What plug or cable do I need to buy? Won't the sound from the tv work for this. I can only use VGA to HDMI in my tv. Thankyou

You need a separate cable for transmitting sound because VGA output is a video input ONLY. The audio cable supplied with the VGA adaptor, you don't need to buy anything. It is all in the video. But I don't recommend VGA adaptors after some further tests. Buy a HDMI to RCA converter, it carries both audio and video signals and supposed to be a better quality than VGA.

Can you please show or let me know which RCA type converter is the correct one, as there are 2 of them available online. One is a box with no wires and the other is a cable with one side HDMI plug and the other side has RCA pins?

@@alemza It should be a box with HDMI port on one side and RCA cables on another side (the cables are usually included, they just are not shown on the main photo). I added an Amazon link that list a variety of RCA converters that include everything you need (see the description of each product). Don't buy just cable with HDMI and RCA connectors, buy a box.

The RGB adapter definitely won't work with sound with Fire Stick. I haven't tested, but I don't see a reason for it not working with a RCA adapter. An RCA adapter will convert sound as well.

I do not have any of those on the back of my tv.. only a USB 3.0 and 3 HDMI ports. The HDMI ports are definitely going bad and I cannot figure out a way to use the USB 3.0

i baked my motherboard in the oven for 10 mins at 375 degrees and now mine works great

I heard people do that as well as heating the HDMI chip with a heat-gun. Supposedly, this process resolders the broken connections that caused the issue. But I decided to go a safer route.

They are pretty small and don't need much space. Instead of a VGA adaptor, look for a RCA convertor, they produce better quality signal and you will be able to keep it next to your TV if you will use longer cables.

@@aseev oh this would be for Xbox 360 or Bell tv so RCA is Red White Yellow I'm just using component for now just as good can't complain. Something to HD adapter I realized I have like almost 2 inches so if adapter is not too long it's actually good the one in the video

I get a no signal warning about 70% of the time, so I have unplug the hdmi cable from the back and re-plug it back in and then I get a signal.

@@aseev maybe like what to do when ur hdmi stops working or quit working soming like that in your title....i wasn't trying to be mean or anything like that,its just kind of frustrating when people are showing the same thing and im just trying to figure out how I can solder or how to fix my hdmi port bec it broke off and fell inside the back of the Tv part,but i might just take it apart to get out so it dont damage anything inside of it because all my stuff is on the side of the TV...i still gave you a like on video this video is a great help to alout of people who's hdmi quit working or stop working..

This solution is not device specific, it just lets you to use HDMI ports via other inputs.

its very agravating how cheap and pathetic hdmi ports on a tv truly are mine stopped workign after only taking the cable off and on about 200 times rca ports on a tv i never had this problem they were made to last

It's a very very common problem with LG TVs. As I understood, the issue is in their faulty main board.

The adapter is not available anymore where I bought it. Search for, "HDMI to RGB adapter" and you will see plenty of places where to buy. But I recommend a HDMI to Component converter. The quality seems to be better.

Crap make of tvs LG I have 3 loose hdmi ports because of a fire stick tried solder the ports back to the board but came loose again. The legs on the ports are to short made shit on purpose

The correct way is to open the back of the TV, and reflow the "CPU" on the mother board. Make sure you added some flux from the edges

If you are using VGA adaptor, did you connect the audio cable as well? VGA is video only port and requires additional cable for sound.

From the adapter to TV. There should be a 3.5mm jack socket.

Check if the VGA port or RCA port directly - if they work, this solution should work for you. If the ports work but there are still no signal through your HDMI converting adaptor - it means that the convertor itself doesn't work or isn't set up as it should.
