Amazon should hire you to write their attribution FAQ. I was sooooo lost after reading on their site but everything is so clear now after watching your video. Thanks so much!!!
Great video! I just set up several attribution tags for our book! How do I enroll in the brand referral bonus opportunity? I can't find where that is. Thanks!
Great video. Thank you so much. I was intrigued with the Brand Referral Bonus, but is there a way to do that as an author? I am the brand but I see they ask for trademark info, etc. I was hoping to make a little extra cash for my book sales (and other products people purchase when clicking my attribution.). Thanks for any info you can provide.
Thank you, Scott, very helpful. I want to ask, does the attribution link have no expiry? Can we use that for our link clicks on social media in many months or years? Also, is this attribution link only applicable for ad posts or to normal posting on social media? Thank you.
Hello Scott, great video! I would really like to know how and why Amazon can show products on Google shopping without me actually setting up an Amazon merchant feed and ad campaign in Amazon. The problem with this is if you also run ecommerce website sales for your products and use google ads to drive traffic to your website, you do not want to compete in Google shopping with your Amazon listings. Would be nice if there was a way to ensure your Amazon ads DO NOT show on Google. Any ideas?
Hey, I'm not aware of a way to stop Amazon from advertising your product on Google shopping ads since it's controlled by Amazon. Most sellers have the opposite problem and want Amazon to advertise them :) It's not hard to outbid them though if you're running you're own shopping ads.
Hi Scott, how would the Amazon Attribution work for organic TikTok videos? Is there a way to track already made attribution links that influencers have used on our products?
Hi Scott, awesome video - really insightful! Is it possible to import Amazon Attribution data into Facebook Ads? Ideally I want to optimse my Facebook Ad campaigns for conversions/amazon purchase but I'm unsure if there's a way to plug that data in.
Not that I'm aware of for FB ads. The main issue I would see is that Amazon attribution doesn't give any user info, so FB wouldn't be able to match the Amazon purchase with the FB user.
If you're able to update the FB ads, you can change any links to your new attribution links, and turn the ads back on. But there's no way to retroactively apply the the brand bonus to sales that were made without the attribution links.
Thank you for this Scott. I just set up some new ad links and when I look at my dashboard, the new ones are mixed in with links I generated a year ago. I don't see a way to sort by date, and it seems so strange that a new link will be on the last page of all my links, and not at the top of the first page of listings. I feel like this should be easy to remedy but for the life of me I can't figure it out. Do you know a trick :)? In other words, how do I get my new ones to show up first? Thanks!
Yeah that is super annoying. At this time I don't think there is a way and I'm not aware of a way to delete a campaign either. What I do is put the dates into the campaign names so at least I can filter by that.
Hi Scott, thank you for this video, really helpful content. One question, can I drive traffic also to the amazon brand store instead of only one specific product listing?
Super helpful video! It seems like email would be a popular channel, but it's not listed. From what you said, just choose whatever, it's more about the reporting- no function, correct? Also does this only work for brands that are enrolled in Brand Registry?
You may be able to find your email provider in the Publishers list, but if you can't you can create a custom publisher and name it how you would like for your email channel. They publisher/channel is for how it shows up in reporting and doesn't change how the link works. Amazon Attribution is available for brands enrolled in Brand Registry at this time.
Great video! For example, I have created a Google Search campaign for one of my ASINS, and I'm targeting a bunch of keywords. How can I know what K.W's are generating the sales?
Hi Scott. Thnx for this valuable resource. I cant seem to see "Attribution" in Measurement & Reporting, neither in ads acocunt, neiuther in manager account.
On the reports page? Clicks show up in the reports pretty fast. Should be within 24 hours or less. Orders can be a little delayed. Usually they'll show up in the reports around 2-3 days from when the order was place. And I don't do any coaching at this time, but I appreciate the great feedback!
Is this the FB ad goal setting, like conversions, or traffic, etc.? If so, it doesn't matter what ad goal you choose in Facebook's ad dashboard. The Amazon attribution link will still track.
Hi Scott! Amazing video, thanks for share this with us. I have a big question, I. create an attribution tag for my facebook Campaign, but instead use the whole Amazon tag, I only used tha UTM patameter, I mean the symbols that go after the question mark. And I added it to my website, does it work like that? I mean, can I track that actions I did this because I have the Facebook´s pixel in my website. But I dont know if I can have an issue with this
Hello, thanks for the video. I have several products of the same brand on amazon. I want to sell via Amazon attribution. Should I run traffic or conversion ads for Facebook ads? I also sent a traffic ad to amazon via Facebook. I didn't get any results. Clicks appear in the Facebook panel, but not in the Amazon panel. What should I do?
I wouldn't run conversion ads from FB since you are not able to put your FB pixel on Amazon. FB won't know what to optimize. For the attribution link reporting, it's hard for me to say what the issue might be. I would first ensure you have the full and correct attribution link. Then test by clicking on the link yourself to see if the clicks are showing up in the Amazon reports to make sure it's working alright.
Our FB ads are going to Shopify store pages. We have our products on Amazon as well. Can we track if our FB ads are driving sales to amazon? We're not sending any traffic to Amazon directly from ads.
Hey, the attribution link will only track sales if it goes from the link directly to Amazon. If there's a step in between, like a Shopify page, it won't track.
Amazon attribution is going to track all of your sales, including ones that purchase direct from your listing and never go to your store. It also allows you get money back with the Brand Referral Bonus.
The power of data handling of Amazon is absolutely overwhelming. I will have to save this video and recheck in the future for attribution from IG. Would you say it's better to run ads on IG to your shopy or link directly with Amazon attribution to your listing? Thanks for sharing bro, btw i feel there is something off with your mic, on the left speaker. Check it out just in case it repeats in next videos :) I'm using Sennheiser HD 25-1-II Hugs from Spain Scott!
All depends on where you are trying to get the sale. If it's Amazon you want the sale on then I'd do direct to Amazon. Or if you wanted to capture some info from them first, like email or phone number, then you could send them to a landing page or ManyChat or something like that first. And then send them to Amazon with the attribution link.
@@RalphArvinCatapang I'd use the URL of the main variation you want people to go to. You can add the other variations when setting up the attribution URL, but even if you don't the sales of the variations will still be tracked under total sales.
Like with any other conversion tracking it's not always 100%, but I find it to be pretty accurate. I have no problem relying on the data to make decisions on the ads.
Hi Scott, if i have different product options in same url (Ex: I have a main puzzle and different shapes on same prodcut page)should i create different attribution tags or just have one for all?
The link will track the sale of every product of your brand no matter which ones you add to the link. The difference is in the reporting as to which of the sales show up in the Product Sales or Total Product Sales columns.
Hey Scott, nice Video. I have a question concerning the orders at amazon Attribution. I have serveral clicks in the report but nearly no orders. Does Amazon count every order or do they have to be loged in already? I am pretty sure, that its unusual to have so less order according to the clicks. Can there be other reasons you know? TY
Attribution won't capture 100% of the orders, but mobile apps can make it worse if they aren't logged in or weren't redirected to the Amazon app. The campaigns also need more than 10 clicks to start showing data. If you're still having an issue, there is a help doc in Amazon ads that gives some more troubleshooting ideas.
Hi Scott,Thanks for this video. I wondering can I tracking the conversions on Google ads if my customers purchase the product though the Amazon Brand Referral Bonus links?
Great video, Scott! When copying the Amazon attribution tag into my RU-vid video ad landing page field, it gives the error messages that 'there are illegal characters in the string'. How can we get around this?
Hey, I haven't run into that using attribution links. I just double checked a RU-vid ad and the URL worked fine. Most likely there's a space or character that got into the tag URL that's not suppose to be there. Sometimes copying from Excel can do that. That's what I'd check first.
Thanks! Last time I checked there wasn't a viable way to manually import the attribution conversion data into Google Ads, but that may have changed. There also might be software out there that can help do this using the API and GCLID or some method like that.
Hi, thanks a lot for such an informative video. Quick q: we create the amazon attribution link to paste in our ad campaigns right? For instance, I will use the amazon attribution link and then use it to input in when creating an ad campaign on facebook?
Yes, you create your Amazon attribution link and then use that link as the final destination URL when creating Facebook ads or with any other platform.
Hey Scott! Great video. Was wondering if I could take the attribution tag URL and turn it into a deep link? Would that affect the amazon attribution tag?
This isn't something I've tried myself but should be easy to test. You can test the link yourself by using it to go to your listing and also do an add to cart. Then see if the click and the add to cart show up in your attribution reports. I'd be interested to know!
@Scott Suggs Thanks, a question about something else please, Amazon give exactly how many page views each of your listing page has received under reports > business reports but it doesn't show through which keyword these visitor landed to your listing pages. Do you know if there is a way that you can run a report to see through which keywords visitors came to each listing? Thanks
Amazon doesn't give the exact data yet of what keywords your organic Amazon traffic is coming from. But using the Search Query Performance Report in Brand Analytics will at least give you some of that data.
@@scott_suggs Thanks, I realize the data of search query performance is not accurate and also in some cases very unrealistic which could be misleading.
Hey Soctt, Great video, very helpful. Quick question, can I use a separate landing page that directs traffic to my amazon product and run external ads on that URL? Will amazon allow that?
Yes, you can send the traffic to a landing page first and then direct them to Amazon. You can use your Amazon attribution links on that landing page as the links or buttons that lead to your product on Amazon.
@@eibadasif1245 The attribution link needs to be the last thing they click to get to Amazon if you want to track their Amazon activity. So if you send them to your landing page first, they will need to click your attribution link somewhere on your landing page to get to Amazon and have their Amazon order be tracked.
If you're Brand Registered and you're not seeing your products, try contacting support (if you're still facing this issue). They should be able to sort it out.
For channel you can select whichever you like. I would probably choose "social" if the traffic is coming from your own website. The Publisher and Channel fields are only for your reports. What you choose won't affect the tag url.
Hey Scott, I've launched a campaign on FB and it has been a couple of weeks now. Thanks for your video guidance. I can see there are clicks on FB but they are not being pulled through in the ads console. Is there a minimum figure required to see data come through to the ads console?
Clicks should be showing up in your Amazon Attribution reporting within 24 hours, usually less. Try testing the link yourself by putting it into your browser and loading it, and see if it registers it as a click. Also double check that the url you have on your FB ad is the full and correct link. Some of it may have been missed when copying/pasting.
Thanks for the great tutorial! Why then choose all variations if you specify a link to a specific variation in the Click Through URL? How does this work at all? Because Google Ads doesn't see our products on Amazon, we set up our own creative there. Maybe it makes sense to link to Store?
If you select one product or multiple products for the attribution link to track, it will still track all sales from all products in your brand. The difference will be how it shows up in the reporting. So whichever way you prefer for the setup will be okay. As far as where to link to, I like to test between direct to the product page and to the storefront to see which preforms best.
Hi Scott How are you, Thanks for helpful video. 1 question, For exampel, after creat amazon atribution FB link how to generate trafic on produt. 1:we need to post this link on Fb groups. 2: we need to just wait for trafic without doing anything. please explain.Thanks.
Hi, you can use the attribution link just like you would any other link. For Facebook, you can use it for organic methods like posting it in FB groups or on a FB page post. Or you can do paid methods like creating a FB ad using the link.
If you aren't using the Brand Referral Bonus then you can use an affiliate link. But you can't use an affiliate link and also be receiving the Brand Referral Bonus.
when I copied the link to my book on Amazon and put it in the "click through url" I get the message: URL should not include 'ref=' or 'ref_=' What am I doing wrong?
Without getting too technical, Amazon will add a "ref" part to the the URL which tells more about where the click came from. You can remove anything in the URL after your ASIN. Another way to do it is to go to manage your inventory in your Amazon account and then click on the link to get to the product page. That URL should have no extras added to it.
Hello Scott, thanks for the video. I have a qustion : Does the attribution link follow the customer across the platform? If I create a link to my store, to the «product» tab of my store for example, and a customer click on a product, land on the product page of this product, will I have the «Add to cart» data, even if he added the product through the product page and not through the product tab in my store?
Hey, yes it should still track those sales. Amazon Attribution uses a 14-day, last-touch attribution model. Keep in mind it won't track 100% accurately but it's close enough.
Yes, it will track all products that are under the same brand. Depending on which products you select for the link to track, the other product sales may show up in a different section of the reports.
Hi Scott, thank you for creating this video. If my primary goal is to bring customers directly to my website, but I want to measure how many people end up purchasing my products from Amazon instead, can I attach an Amazon Attribution tag to the url in my ad (that directs customers to my website)? Would that be a way to measure any spillover to Amazon?
Hi Scott, if I run Google ads regularly ( a new ad when previous one finishes) do I use the same tag on each ad different ad or do I have to create new tag every time? thanks in advance :)
I’ll usually keep the the same tag if all I’m doing is changing the ad copy. I make a note of when I do so I know when changes were made for reporting if I need to compare time periods. But nothing wrong with using a new tag each time either. If you have multiple ads running at the same time within the same ad set then a separate tag for each would probably be preferable if you want to see which ad is making sales.
Hi Scott, I am creating my first attribution campaign. I am running google search campaign going to my amazon store for a specific group of products. If I only choose those products as advertising but a different product gets sold is that tracked? Should I add all my products to the attribution campaign or just the specific products I am advertising?
Hey, if I’m sending to a product listing then I’ll do just that product for the tag. If you’re sending to an Amazon store page with multiple products then you could include all those. The attribution tag tracks a lot more than just sales and add to carts. I’d recommend diving into the reports and looking at the different custom columns and the different things that it tracks.
I use Amazon Attribution since I'm only advertising my brand. The brand referral bonus is 10% for me which is higher than the Amazon Associates payout.
Does Amazon Attribution provide performance postback to external platforms? I mean the postback may include revenue, amount, or other order information then external platforms are able to tune the marketing based on the performance data.
As of now there is no postback by Amazon to ad platforms to help with optimization. There may be a software that can help with this but I’m not aware of one.
If you have multiple products under the same brand then it will track all their sales. The sales will show up in different parts of the reporting depending on whether you added them to the link or not.
If I'm setting up Attribution with my RU-vid Video Ads, do I select Google Adwords as the channel/publisher? It only gives a "search" option when I select that, so I'm wondering if I'm just not seeing the correct options.
Yeah they don't have a RU-vid specific one yet for some reason. You can select Google Adwords or you can select "New" for publisher and create one called RU-vid and you can select whichever channel you want, like Video. That's what I did since I also run Google search ads and I wanted to keep it separate. Either way, the publisher/channel doesn't affect the link and only matters for your reporting.
Hey Scott - can you confirm if Amazon Attribution tags can be used on brand store traffic? I'm only seeing tracking on urls that are being driven to PDPs.
You can add the attribution link to your website or blog. When the shopper clicks on the link it will take them to Amazon and track their orders there.
It's harder to target specific keywords for ranking now that Amazon says they don't want 2-step urls, but from what I've seen Amazon does view it as a positive overall for rankings.
Hi, so i'm running fb ads for a client and he has 13 products on his Amazon store that i need to redirect traffic to.. Will i have to make 13 tags separately for each product or can i just use one tag in my Ad set? Hoping you'll reply back.. Thanks
Hey, if you're sending to their Amazon store with multiple products on it then you could use one tag. You can get a breakdown in the Amazon Attribution reports of the campaigns by product. If I'm sending to a product page I prefer that to have its own separate tag.
I don't use it much but I have done it before. If you go to bulk upload and download the template file there are instructions in it. There's a different spreadsheet for Google ads and Facebook ads.
can amazon know the search term made by the google user that clicked on my google ad, or amazon will only see that my link was clicked on from google ads
I'm replying to my own question. All you do is to go to the Amazon Ads dashboard of the other country you want an ad tracked on, and start from there exactly as before. Easy. But Google search engine didn't find it and frustration made me try which now I realise is obvious. Hope this helps someone with the same question!
Thank you for your video. Just want to ask a question. I used this link for my Google ads and seems like it only tracks my clicks. It reported no sales come from the Google Ads which is strange since we only use this channel to promote our product. Does anyone have the same problem?
If it's tracking the link clicks in the attribution reports it should also be tracking add to carts and sales. Sales are usually delayed around 2 days before they show up in the reports.
@@scott_suggs Thank you for your reply. We run GG Ads for about 2 weeks now and get a lot of sales, however, it does not show up on the report. So now I start wondering if all my sales are organic or if there is something wrong with Amz referral program. And by the way, do you know why I can't find the product to apply when I create a new link for amz attribution even when I search for the exact keyword and asin? Thanks in advance!
@@maichaunguyen4122 If it's not showing up to connect to the link that could be the issue. If you go to Amazon Attribution help docs there is a section on connecting products. If that doesn't help I would contact Amazon support.
Can I get a bonus if someone clicks on my links and goes to my Amazon detail page and then doesn't buy that item, but instead clicks to my store and buys the item from there..
