When using an electric toothbrush the normal idea would be to brush in outer, chewing, and inner surface. But most of the time people may not clean the inner surface long enough, which causes them to feel stick film of plaque left near the gumline of the back molars. So would solution would be to start from inner surface of the teeth, because the inner surface needs more attention than the outer surfaces.
@ElectricTeeth
@ElectricTeeth Год назад
All surfaces need equal attention really. But, yes, starting with inner is perfectly fine and a good place for some who know they don't give these surfaces the attention they need.
@isaacogunmuko3947
@isaacogunmuko3947 Год назад
You still have to brush for 2 to 3 minutes. To give the Brush for 30 sec or 1 min will not remove all the plaque & Extrinsic Surface Stains. Your teeth should feel smooth and look cleaner(removal of extrinsic stains).
@isaacogunmuko3947
@isaacogunmuko3947 Год назад
Most things need sometime to actually get cleaned up. For instance, if you vacuumed a floor/carpet quickly will cause you to leave some stuff behind.

It was not as painful as I had feared and have my next session next week. I have been made very aware that if I do not use my electric toothbrush properly, and also floss every day with the correct tools, that the treatment will be for nothing. So I am fully committed to maintaining a proper brushing and flossing regime in the hope I can keep the gum disease at bay from now on. Thanks for asking, such a strange coincidence.

This is making me crazy. If each quadrant has 7 teeth and we're supposed to hold it in each position (inside, outside, and top) for 3 seconds, that adds up to 63 seconds per quadrant, but we're supposed to be able to do our entire mouths in 2 minutes?
@isaacogunmuko3947
@isaacogunmuko3947 4 года назад
Hey if you buy an Oral b Bluetooth model you can change the Quadrant pacer above two minutes. The Maximum you can increase the time is 4 minutes. Which means you would brush each quadrant of your mouth for 1 minute(60 secs). Top Left(1 minute), Top Right(1 minute), Bottom Left(1 minute), and Bottom Right(1 minute)

It's interesting how the math doesn't add up. She mentioned that you need to keep your toothbrush (let's say that we have the Oral-B one) for 3 second on each tooth in a quadrant, 3 x 7 = 21 seconds. Now we need to do the same for above and inside, that's 3 x 21 = 63 seconds. And then each quadrant should take approximately 30 seconds, totalling 2 minutes. But if you follow through with her initial instructions, your total time should be roughly 4 minutes. Am I missing something ?

I'm kindda new to this electric stuff.

Hi Damiaan. How long have you been using an electric toothbrush for? Are you a new user or have been doing so for some time? If you are a new user, it can take a bit of time to adjust. Do you know how firm the bristles of the brush head are? It might be that you have firm bristles on the head and could benefit from some softer ones. It might be that you are brushing too hard, you only need the bristles to skim the surface of the teeth. It may well be you are just more sensitive to the increased power an electric toothbrush offers. When did you last have a dental checkup?

@ElectricTeeth

You want to focus on the gumline more than the lower part of the tooth away from the gumline if the head doesn't cover the whole tooth surface. But you can and ideally should make a pass over the rest of the tooth, you might need to brush for a little longer to achieve this.

Our recommendations are: USA: Oral-B Smart 1500 Canada: Oral-B Smart 2000 UK/Europe: Oral-B Pro 2 2500 Use the sensitive cleaning modes these brushes have with a sensitive brush head (named Pro GumCare/Sensi UltraThin). These will provide a thorough/yet gentle clean. It may take some getting used to if you are particularly sensitive.

Hey ET, is washing your teeth more than 2 times a day bad for your teeth? I always brush my teeth 3 times a day (after each meal), but now I've heard that it can actually damage enamel over time, is this true? I've been doing this for years, and I've never heard this before, can you confirm if it's true? Thanks.
@ElectricTeeth
@ElectricTeeth 3 года назад
We would not recommend any more than 3 times a day. 3 is fine, done correctly. There are different opinions on the best time to clean the teeth and how frequently. In the UK, USA, Canada the recommendation is twice a day for 2 minutes, at least 30 minutes after eating. In Korea, the recommendation is 3 times a day within approximately 3 minutes of eating. The tooth surface is often softer after eating (acids etc in food), so brushing so quickly can potentially be more damaging. However, ultimately there is ideally more study needed. I would stick with what you have been doing. Presumably you are having regular check-ups. Your dentist should let you know if there were any problems.

Brushing for 4 minutes a time is quite long. That is twice what is recommended. Unless you mean 4 minutes in total per day, which is spot on. I find just gliding the brush along isn’t very effective since since you’re not moving it, and I feel that not applying some movement doesn’t really help clean how you should. I also drool a lot when I do it this way and end up either swallowing or spitting out the toothpaste early as I’m gagging. Anyone else feel this way or is it just me?

@ElectricTeeth 9 месяцев назад
If you have an Oral-B toothbrush with a round brush head, you shouldn't need the circular motions as the brush is doing this work already. Just move the head tooth to tooth. That said, discuss and take personalised advice from your dentists as this is always best.
@ElectricTeeth
@ElectricTeeth 9 месяцев назад
It is quite common. The best advice I can give is to slowly build up your tolerance or at least try. Start brushing the tip of your tounge. Each day or week try and gradually start cleaning further back to see if you can help desensitise yourself. For flossing back teeth you might find interdental brushes/proxy brushes with long handles at a right angle can help. They are long and thin meaning less of a mouthful. Or you could look at pre threaded floss picks too. Some dental offices will offer sedation. You need to speak to your local office and see if they can and what the implication is etc.
