I would love an in depth series of videos on how to repair dents, focusing on what tool to use at what time, and then the specifics of using each tool. If you were to add affiliate links to those videos, I think you'd probably make some money on 'em; I *always* buy from affiliate links when the creator deserves it. And you my friend, definitely deserve it! I really appreciate how you show the usage of your body tools during a repair, but an in depth video series covering the minutia would be phenomenal. Soapbox moment: RU-vid is so chock full of videos that do nothing but pimp affiliate links it's disgusting. But when a creator produces high quality content (like you do), I *always* help support them by purchasing from affiliate links. I watch just about every auto body repair and auto painting channel on RU-vid that I've been able to find. I have learned more from your channel than all the other channels *combined* . Thank you very much for sharing your (unmatched) skill with us.

Yet again another interesting video for people like myself that are DIY painters doing it at home, we have the Upol high build primers in the UK but they are different to what you use, we have the S2025 which is good but there is no mention in the TDS about using it as a wet on wet or about tinting it to the colour you need but I do wonder if there is a difference between the 2🤔John UK.

We are working on restoring a '09 Honda Civic after our grandparents passed and I've done everything mechanical to it I need to repaint it top to bottom as there are a lot of spots that bare metal are showing but I stumbled across this video as it looked like maybe he was turning out of a bank and a rippled the passenger side fender in the front We don't care about that per se but I know it will be difficult to sand and to repaint with all that rippling in there, a new fender pannel cost about $150, So of course this peaked my interest. We're not aiming to make it look perfect at all as this will just be a daily driver commuting to work but if we could pull some of those dents out and try to fill in the rest a little bit at least to the point where we could sand and paint that would be great!

I’ve been doing tons of research into body work as it’s something I see myself doing as a career so I have one question that I’ve asked before but has never been addressed. Logic tells me that in order to prevent orange peel and runny lines that I should go from top to bottom but I see everyone go bottom to top, does that make a difference with the quality of the paint job or does it just not matter?

Thanks for all the great content, been watching for a long time, question, how do I get rid of tape lines after basecoat, prior to clearcoat. I was thinking just 2000 grit on the hard edges and then clearcoat? It’s not the whole door panel, 2’ x 2’ area in the center of the door. On the hinge between front and rear door. Rolled back the tape after Basecoat, and there is a hard line, just finished drying 10min ago. Or apply another base coat on the edges before it completely dry eyes.
@GarageNoise
@GarageNoise Год назад
Are you blending the clear . I'm not understanding why your taping off for basecoat.
@RC.56
@RC.56 Год назад
@@GarageNoise because I taped off the repair area, repaired with body filler, primed and sanded the repair area, and then went out about 6-8inches around the repair area and 600 grit whole area. I sprayed a few coats of base, but did not fold over the tape for soft edges, I forgot. So now I have hard lines of base where the tape was after peeling back another inch or so before I clear. Have not applied top coat yet.
@RC.56

How do you spot those high spots at the edge of the craters and how would you know you’ve tapped it down enough? What seems to be messing me up the most are those hard to see high spots like the ones you tapped down as you were pulling.
@GarageNoise
@GarageNoise Год назад
It can be hard to see. I'll tell you what I do before I even break the paint I get a good idea where all the crowns are and start working them down as I pull the dent. Then after grinding to bare metal I know where my lows and highs are. I apply the dye guide coat on metal and that helps along with a metal file and also getting good at feeling over the panel to identify those areas. Experience and practice will be the difference in the end. Hope this helps appreciate the support!

The body filler part should be done in one coat and finished within 5-10 minutes. The metal glaze coat should be done in one coat and should be completed in half hour at most. I think the way he’s showing would take hours with all the extra steps. Also never let your filler dry hard far easier and cleaner to use soft filler until 80 grit. You must let the glaze get solid though
@GarageNoise
@GarageNoise 8 месяцев назад
If you can do it in one coat that's fine. But you should never pile on filler to block it in one coat. It much better to use multiple layers of thin coats. Everyone has their own process if your experienced and that's ok for sure.
