I'm on the fence with the synthetic towels/mitts/discs/ etc. Clay is great. Have you ever tried using your mit on a fairly hammered car, then gone over it with clay to see if you pick up more contaminates ? Also, how do you know when to stop using the mitt ? I just don't trust them, every time I'm in Walmart/Auto store I find myself thinking about buying one ( Monster Zillla ? has a cool box, Mother's has the thing that has a handle and looks like an iron )
I haven't used a clay mitt than a bar, but I'm happy with the results I've been getting. Just like with the clay, you can easily feel and hear when the contaminants have been lifted off. I'm using the Nanoskin fine grade mitt
Love ya oscar, no detailer on RU-vid talks about it but situational awareness. If you got a swirled to fuck moms van that just wants smooth clean paint, you dont need to worry about making new swirls. Difference between that and something you are actually polished or has been polished. Decon(strip wash, clay bar or clay towel) and wax jobs are some of my favorites.
So I've never really messed with a clay mitt. I'm curious and will probably try it. So when you're done with the mitt, you just rinse off? Like whatever's on the mitt just washes right out and nothings on the mitt when you start the next job?
Oscar. Since there are two types of onr, wash and wax & wash and shine, the blue one you have in video is without a wax. I have a bottle of the green wash and wax, am I fine using just that? Asking because I want to know if the wax that is applied/ left behind by the wash and wax will affect claying the car, which is supposed to remove waxes. thanks!!
The nanoskin is the highest quality clay mitt, clay mitt will also last significantly longer than the putty. I like putty cause customers tend to like seeing how much gunk I have pulled off their paint.
quick question, what towels do you use when doing your wash with onr? i’ve heard both sides of quality towels not making a difference or that the quality of it is super important. Thanks!
Good question: 1) if the car hasn't been properly/professionally detailed in 365 days, what difference will it make (other than stroking the ego) that you use high quality towels? It doesn't 2) I use Kirklands MF towels 3) It's your business, you can do what you want
Ehh, going to be dependent on how/where you drive your car and how you store it. It's really a per-case basis. It's not like oil where you have to change it every X miles
@@DetailGroove If I search that on Amazon Canada I get that prouduct but its 3.0 version. Would you reccomend this for a wax? About $60-65 CAD for the bottle
